being in Sicily, you should visit this place ... in addition to the best-preserved Doric temple in Europe, this wonderful amphitheater! ... a charming place .. a witness to the history of this place

The Segesta theatre, nestling in the side of Mt. Barbaro, today commands a spectacular view of the Gulf of Castellamare. First built in the late 4th to early 3rd century BCE, the theatre as it is seen today dates to the 2nd century BCE. Originally it had 29 rows of seats (the lower 21 survive) divided vertically into seven sections (kerkides) by access steps. The capacity would, therefore, have been around 4,000 spectators. The theatre is supported by a containing wall (analemmata) constructed of limestone blocks. The orchestra, scene building (once decorated with scenes connected to the pastoral god Pan), and entrances (paradoi) on either side have been lost. The theatre continues to host theatre events and Greek dramas throughout the summer months.

This is certainly one of the most well preserved and renovated open theater in Europe. You need to park in the free public parking and walk about 250 meters to the ticket boot. You can bring your car closer and let anyone get off and return park if needed. The tickets are 8 € each, plus 2 € for the bus ride. The bus would bring you to the open theater. It’s at 1 km away, you can walk but at noon under 40C, I suggest you take the bus. For it you will need a mask 😷. It runs every 30 minutes. To reach the temple you need to climb some stairs, about 250 meters away. The theater is nice, but the view around is really what is worth your time.

Never has an ancient theatre been in a more stunning setting as Segesta

We got here before most of the coach parties. Parking is a bit odd. The actual place has no parking and suggest parking at the station and getting bussed up but 200m to the left is an enterprising farmer who let's you park on his land for 2 euro. We did the Temple first. Beautiful against the blue sky. We then chose to walk up to the amphitheatre. We're used to walking so it wasn't too arduous and at this time of year with all the wonderful wild flowers it was superb Great views

Well kept theater. I recommend the bus (€2,-) which will help you reach the top of the hill, since it’s quite a challenge to get up there without it.

Amazing !! Peaceful. Stunning views of the valley. Was greeted by a friendly dog which was super cute. Definitely a must see if going to Segesta

Very beautiful but extremely hot in the summer and there’s only one bus that takes you from the ticket area to the theatre and back so if it’s busy you’ll probably end up waiting for 15 minutes in the heat. There’s also a temple about 100m up a small hill from the ticket area that is amazing. They also have a small cafe with food, water, granite, and souvenirs. I recommend morning visits for Segesta.

Worth paying to get the bus up even as hikers (on a non-hiking day), but be prepared to deal with guides trying to jump the queue with their busload of people. We didn't stand for it and made sure we got on, after all we had paid. Great views from the top, and the theatre is in good condition, along with other ruins.

Incredible place... I think I even preferred it to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Parking is weird, you arrive at the parking lot and then must take a bus (which leaves every 15 mins) to the entrance. This process can add 30-45 minutes to your time there but it is well worth it. Also really nice that they do a student discount.

Wonderfull place to visit. Views are breathtaking, you might wanna plan a bit of more time to stay up there. There is a bus at a reasonable price to get you there or you can hike, what is super nice.

A great Greek theatre preserved in a very good shape. It is worth the excursion, just make sure you pay the extra 2€ for the bus ride atop the hill. :)

Astounding historical location where you can still feel a very ancient the past. Greek Dramas' theatricals are not so good though. Bad performances, cheap scenography. That can for sure be improved.

Amazing place by itself. Still I cannot understand why signs, railings are not being repaired or renewed.... Italy...

One of the highlights in the North West of Sicily. Great view from the impressive theatro. Plan in some time since you have to take a bus from a parking lot below the actual site and take another bus up to the theatro if you don’t want to walk 20 minutes in the heat. Busses go every 20 minutes.

Interesting place but they need add more placards and refresh the ones are already there. Many of them are so faded they are hard to read.

👍 The ruins of Medieval castle. You'll need to have pretty vivid imagination in order to be impressed. I'd say that this is not the most interesting place in Segesta Archaeological park, so I woldn't recommend to visit it just to see the castle ruins. However the views from the castle walls are pretty...

😐 The park deserves a lot, the organization not so much, from the lack of guides to the excessive cost for a 7-seater van € 10 + € 6 admission without a guide + 1.50 for shuttle to the theater ... Recommended for trekking lovers and nature ... Not recommended at high temperatures
