If you are planning to travel in Sicilia do not forget to include Erice in the list. There is a funicular from Trapani to Erice so it is easy to get there even without a car. There is a good parking downstairs near the funicular station so it is a good point in the itinerary when travelling by car as well. If you are in Erice do not miss the Venus Castle - it will take 10 min on foot from the city entrance and it is really beautiful and worth to be seen. This is a very old castle full of history dating from the Norman period and built on top of the ancient Venus temple. The views are splendid.

Must see and this is meant also for Erice as a town. Reminded me on Game of Thrones but much more peaceful. It was surprisingly chilly on the Erice hill (751m), better have jacket with you.

Simply unique place in the world. A Castle at about 800 meters high immersed in the green. A magical place where you can smell scents and smells of the distant past. A place of unparalleled beauty where time seems to stand still.

Visiting Castello di Venere is a must do thing when you are in Trapani or even in Palermo. It’s definitely worth visiting. Erice has a different air and a different experience the architecture and the streets allow you to via time. Also I recommend taking a cable car to Trapani for 6€ if you are in Erice.

If you are in the area you have to pass by... So nice to have a walk with the great sunset view of the three little islands.

A great castle in a medieval town of Erice with breathtaking sea view. At the time of the visit the castle was temporarily closed for works. There is a nice cafe next to a panoramic view.

Visiting the castle was an absolute joy. I got to spend all day with my all-too-lovely girlfriend enjoying the sites and the picturesque beauty of the Italian countryside. The mandatory kissing sites were hilarious, we probably kissed 12 times within our visit. A must visit for couples and anyone looking for love.

I'm all for castles and going inside them, but this one is best seen from outside and paying to go in May not be worth it. There are tons of great views from other parts of the city and unless you already know about the archeological site inside the castle, there are better things to visit (or just walk around the area!)

Absolutely fantastic views! Lots of space to walk around and many seating and viewing areas. 1000% worth the visit as the views are spectacular. There are lots of restaurants and hotels around the area open in the summer months. The castle itself is basically built on the side of a cliff. Pretty amazing.

Stunning 360 views of the whole area. Not included in the pass but if you don’t feel like paying you can walk around and take advantage of one of the many balconies.

The castle is close for restoration, and they do not say this when u pay for the 8€ tickets to see the several palaces/exhibit in Erice. Would be nice to know in advance. Also no info or explanation on the entrance of the castle, we had to ask around. Erice itself is beautiful.

The ruined temple/castle makes has a majestic, eerie feeling and provides with a stunning panoramic view from inside on both north and west coast. If you're someone who likes to read about places you visit, you will find some boards with history texts, but take note that some of them are misplaced or duplicated. Entry only with a ticket but worth in my opinion. A must-see if you're visiting Erice.
