It's rather embarrassing to write this review because I recommended this place to my family. I have been here once before a couple of years ago and it was excellent. Tonight was a whole new ballgame. The only positive was there was no wait. We ordered a platter with cat fish and fresh fried gulf shrimp, a fried chicken finger platter and a grilled chicken platter. The fried fish platter arrived stone cold, with shrimp that maybe swam in the gulf six months ago. Cold, rubbery, inedible. My husband about gagged. The catfish filet was so tiny and shriveled it was pitiful. See the pic on that. One finger width piece. We would have sent that back immediately but the server was MIA because our grilled chicken platter was fried, so it went back. We sat and sat and sat and sat. Eventually she came back and said oh your grilled chicken hasn't come yet?. No it hasn't and while you are here this is inedible. Do you want to see my Manager. My husband said no let me have a check so I can get my family somewhere edible to eat. At which point the grilled chicken came, 30 minutes late with no French fries. So he did talk to the manager and had to pay for 2 meals not eaten. $60. We are now at McDonald's in Guntersville. What a crying shame for a formally fabulous place. I will NEVER recommend a place to my family again.

So, I finally got a chance to go to The Top O' The River at the Lake Guntersville location for my birthday! I received the same great service as I did from the restaurant in Gadsden, AL. The only thing different is the view. The food is wonderful as usual and the service was great! The location on the river is just simply beautiful! I was able to sit and eat my food while the sun was going down over the lake! I also was able to go out back and actually walk out toward the lake. If you're ever in Lake Guntersville and you want some good catfish, greens, coleslaw amd cornbread, this is certainly the spot to visit!👍

This place was like a well oiled machine. Very well managed. We pulled up and it looked like we would have to wait for hours before we would get to eat. We were 40 on the waiting list. It took 43 min to get a table, but there was ample waiting inside on bench seats and plenty of decor so it seemed less. The food was delicious. I ate too much of the coleslaw, cornbread, and pickled onions that was brought out! The wife got the popcorn shrimp/shrimp kabob combo and I got the catfish/shrimp kabob combo. Very good food. My catfish was a little on the thin side but overall had a great taste. The server was very polite. We had a great window seat and could see the water. This place was huge. I believe it was the largest seafood restaurant I’ve ever seen. Seating for around 700. Not fancy, but still managed to pull off a nice dining experience. Overall a great place to eat, but a little bit of a wait..

My boss and I came here for dinner since it was recommended by coworkers. I loved the atmosphere and the large aquarium. Food was good but not great. I asked for my catfish to be blackened and was told that it could be either fried or broiled. The fried pickles we great and I loved my drink but was not a fan of their Cole slaw, it was on the dry side. All in all, I enjoyed the experience and would enjoy going back to try other items on the menu.

The food was AMAZING. The service was great as well. This is one of my favorite places to eat eat!

We celebrated my son's 40th birthday here. Although very busy, we did get seated right away, party of 6. The hostess and waitress were extremely welcoming, for it to be so busy. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious! The staff sang happy birthday, to our surprise. We didn't know they would at Top Of River, but it was very nice of them. We ordered fish, shrimp, chicken, even cheese cake, and everything was so good. We drove 3 hours to meet my son there, and we will definitely eat here again, when we visit.

Very underwhelming. Food was not good. Very greasy. Cornbread was dry, chicken was not fresh. Everybody takes a to go box home because they don’t want to waste, but it never gets eaten! Service was okay, the lady who seated us must’ve been having a bad day. NOT very friendly. The only thing saving this restaurant is the view.

The catfish was good. Slaw and greens were excellent. Corn bread and onions were a nice bonus. My wife loved the fried shrimp All in all a very good meal. We will go back.

I've been wanting to come back here for years, and they did not disappoint! They had the same yummy food I remembered, the kind staff, and beautiful view of the river that I remembered! Truly comforting that a restaurant has been around for so long yet hasn't wavered! I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I absolutely love this place! It's been our favorite place to eat in Guntersville for years! It was crowded when we went, but we still didn't wait more than 20 minutes for a table. Staff was very friendly, our waitress was very nice, and delivered our meal quickly and with a smile. We love the blackened catfish and it did not disappoint. The cornbread, slaw and pickled onions were wonderful and second to none! Baked potato was hot and fresh as were the hush puppies. They have wonderful balcony views of the lake, a large indoor waiting area, as well as a very nice patio waiting area with plenty of chairs. Beautiful grounds. We will definitely be back!

The greens and gulf shrimp are the best! Great place if you have a large party because they can accommodate alot of people. I'm posting updated menu photos.

Great catfish and chicken filets and really love all of the extras included such as the cornbread, coleslaw, and pickled onions. We also enjoyed the fried pickles which had a light batter and were not overly salty. Beautiful and fun atmosphere with tons of space!
