bussin respectfully. The portions are gigantic, hearty, and satisfying. Bread choices are always fun and fresh, the marinated tofu is a personal favorite. Can’t miss this place, and I’m glad it’s back open.

A delightful space with friendly staff, lots of natural light, and amazing food. Prices are super reasonable, especially for how much food you get! I'd recommend going with the half & half — it's $12 without tax and you get to choose 2 out of 3 options: salad, sandwich, soup. I got the Berkeley special sandwich with sausage & lentil soup, and the hummus they used was quite good. Will definitely be heading back to try other options soon!

Great restaurant, the que was super long but moved quickly. The salads are massive 😳, but really good! Highly recommended!

Impressive. The freshness and generosity of portions is worth the wait. The serving sizes can easily be shared. The bread is amazing. Each order is prepared on the spot. There is a parking garage one block towards the campus.

This was the one place I always had to go when I was in town. Losing it to a fire was heartbreaking and for years I went without delicious cheap salads. There just was no other substitute. Then it came back and it was just as good as we all remembered. HUGE portions, fresh ingredients, homemade bread, and those dressings?!. Yes please.

The menu is straightforward with couple options of salads and sandwiches. There was a line but they are very efficient. The portion sizes are huge, we shared one salas in two. Really liked it and the place is great, with outdoor patio in the back

I had the sausage and lentil soup with a half roast beef sandwich. We have not been here since it was Cafe Intermezzo before it burned down. This was just as good as we remember. My husband had that expression of reliving fond memories. The mint lemonade was especially good.

The food is good but the staff is rude and sloppy. Every time I go to mezzo the staff seems like they don’t want to be working and are passive aggressive about it. Some of the staff members have had an attitude towards me and make the environment uncomfortable. On top of that they are disgustingly sloppy. The work stations are covered in food with toppings over flowing into each other and around the rims of the containers/counters. I watched one staff member restocking the beans and continues to fill them till they were overflowing everywhere, the mess almost seemed intentional. I understand that Mezzo can get very busy but there should still be a certain level of cleanliness when working with food. When it is busy, the staff don’t seem to care much about assembling the sandwiches properly… I had to kindly ask a staff member to reassemble my sandwich as it was falling apart while he tried to put it in the box. The service used to be great but the now careless service and staff makes my $40 lunch not worth my time or money.

This sandwich shop is a hidden treasure! The sandwiches are incredible, with a wide variety of fresh ingredients to choose from. The bread is soft and perfectly toasted, and the flavors are simply delicious. The service is friendly and fast. Don't miss out on this sandwich haven!

Home of the massive salad, Mezzo certainly does not disappoint when it comes to bang for your buck. I've never had to wait in line for too long to get my bowl, plus they give you a massive piece of bread (in comparison to someplace like SweetGreen where you get like a little flimsy tiny piece, this place gives huge slices of hearty delicious flavorful bread).

... If you have read any of my other posts you will notice a lack of 5 stars. Their food, spot on. Service, clearly defined... Part is on us to move. Atmosphere, I've never been there when 5 empty tables exist. And each time one or two spots are available. All these patrons are pleased to be there eating the food not just escaping the world. I've sat in the great back outdoors, inside many times with my wife. This is the spot we both enjoy a good sandwich and salad and each other's company. Again, few places have found this honor of ranking amongst my wife and I. Worth the wait.

This is fr the BEST salad/sandwich place you could go to. The bread (especially honey wheat!!) is to die for. The salads are always jam packed with veggie goodness and always hit the spot. The dressings (specifically poppy seed) match well with the delicious salad and I love that they always have a fruit to give with the meal :). If you are in the area this is a MUST GO. And even if you aren’t- come here. For your own good. >:)

Hands down the best salad spot in the Bay Area and possibly California. This place used to be cash only before it burnt down but came back and now it’s card only, so take that to note. First off the portions are HUGE, I always get the chef salad and I would never get the sandwich here, not to say it’s bad it’s just not the same. I’m a man that likes to eat and I get really disappointed, usually, ordering salads cause they always leave you hungry, but here you’ll leave full. I will say that the coffee isn’t the best but it’s still good. My coffee tasted a bit burnt. Overall a must try place, Dont be intimidated by the lines they move quick.

Pretty much the prettiest brunch place I have visited in Berkeley, hands down! The food was okayish - I think we tried a few sandwiches and the bread just didn't cut it for us. (We love a good bread) everything else was fresh but the vibes were definitely worth the stay.

Massive portion sizes and fresh sandwiches and salads. I got the combo w the half sub and soup. The sausage and lentil soup was okay, but the BLTA was fantastic. You can tell that the ingredients are pretty fresh. The back patio also has pretty nice seating.

The bread and poppy seed dressing aren’t as good as the original Intermezzo. Don’t get me wrong the place is still a great spot. There always seems to be a wait to order.

AMAZING HEALTHY DELICIOUS salad bowl! (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)🥗❤️🤍💚 Their veggie and beans are fresh; the bread is dense and tender; Greek yogurt dressing is super delicious! The portion is satisfying as well! Staff are nice and the vibe of the entire restaurant is chill and pleasant. They have a lot of indoor seats and patio available. Also, wifi is acceptable! Amazing place to enjoy a great healthy meal and relax 😌 # Veggie Delight Salad with Greek Yogurt Goddess Dressing

I don't normally eat salads but this one is delicious. The poppy seed dressing really made the salad. Great serving size.

Great sandwiches! I highly recommend trying this place. Mezzo has beautiful interior and patio that nicely designed. They could definitely do a better job at having their tables clean for customers to dine in.

Fresh ingredients. Done in front of you… hence not ‘fast food.’ Friendly staff. Love the main and breakfast menus. Did I mention fresh?! Now let’s talk about their amazing honey wheat bread. It soooooooooooooo good. Updated interior. Great patio. Students and students at heart are everywhere!

Came here because my friend raved about their honey bread. We already ate before coming so we didn't want to order a proper meal but we wanted to try their bread. The cashier recommended the $1 bread end bag. It is this giant bag of fresh bread ends from the day....we thought we won the lottery with this one. Honey bread = 👌🏻 the best. I also got an elderflower kombucha which was very bubbly and delish!

Right as I took a bite, I tasted something overwhelmingly bitter! All others ingredients were overshadowed. I am disappointed, becuase Mezzo is usually super good about their breads. This is so odd!

Food: Amazing sandwiches and salads. Huge portions. Location: Very central to everything around campus. A couple of blocks from Sather Gate. Ambiance: Clean, comfortable with lots of sunlight. Indoor and patio seating all nicely decorated. Price: Very reasonable considering the portions. My family of 5 ate for $75.
