Worst staff I have ever seen in a hospital. The nurses and secretaries are extremely rude and most have such negative attitudes. Zero communication between them and constant miscommunications leading to medication mix ups, or simply medication not being brought out. They gave me too many saline IV bags which led to liquid in my lungs and having to be rushed to the ICU. Multiple nurses flat out lied when confronted about these issues. The charge nurse in particular is extremely rude and unhelpful. She is more concerned with having the final say in decisions as opposed to working with other nurses to communicate what was said to me by other nurses. This led to constant contradictions and wasted time for my family as we are not from this area. I was brought here to emergency room on Easter for a broken leg and it has been the worst 5 days of care I have ever seen or received. If I could give zero stars I would. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR LOVED ONES TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL IF IT IS AN OPTION. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS. EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF THEY STRESS YOU OUT MORE THAN THEY HELP YOU

I have worked here on the icu for 1 year, hereā€™s my summary: Attention to detail and our ICU teamā€™s ability to catch things before they go wrong is superior. The learning environment rivals any. And the care towards patients is outstanding in comparison to any hospital close by because the hospital is so well staffed with resources. Grateful for my experience here, it will be hard to beat. Cheers mate

Really poor treatment of patients' families. Way subpar compared to other hospitals in the area. I was the designated driver for my partner who was having surgery. I had to take off work to drive her to the hospital, then wait for 7 hours til she got discharged. I brought a laptop to try and get some work done. And Stanford does everything in their power to make things as difficult and stressful for their patients' families while we're already in duress having to miss work and worry about our loved ones in surgery. They kicked me out of the only waiting room that had any kind of reasonable table to use a laptop at, because they claimed that other patients needed to use the waiting room, even though it was 80% empty. All of the beautiful public seating areas in the newly opened building are labelled STAFF ONLY, patients' families aren't allowed to sit there even though these areas are also all 80%+ empty. The only place for patients to spend 7hrs is the noisy cafeteria. Patients' families are just as much a part of patient outcome success and patient care as the medical staff - Stanford should be ashamed.

My father had surgery this week and stayed 24hrs in the hospital. Though the doctor and surgical staff were good, the hospital literally couldn't give my senior father a room and didn't let him have any visitors at all. Not even his wife. Instead he was stuck in the hallway, yes, the HALLWAY, over night and into the next morning. He was kept awake by various staff moving equipment, people shouting, etc. While in terrible pain. This isn't the height of the pandemic, I find it mind boggling something like this is considered acceptable.

As a nurse with 11 years of experience, this was the worst job I've ever had. The environment was toxic. I would only recommend going here if you need highly specialized surgery. I was a patient here too, and was not impressed with my care. No one from my surgical team visited me after surgery. Only a medical student.

My dad was a Stanford patient since 2014 and every time he admitted to J7 or ICU units, the staffs and doctors were always amazing to his care. Even on the day that my dad took his last breath, the team were so attentive and understand our concerns. The transition to comfort care for my dad was absolutely amazing, calm and it was very peaceful. My family and my dad never felt so loved by the staffs and doctors here for the last years that my dad had been sick. Thank you Stanford for your amazing care and we truly blessed to be there.

What an amazing place the rooms are really nice the nurses are so helpful and the food is excellent this is definitely a five-star place. The doctors are professional and world class leveraging off distinguished positions in the Stanford school of medicine. Most of all I like the beds and maybe this is standard in an ICU but they constantly inflate and adjust so you don't have Constant stress on one side of your back. Meals are available from 6 AM to 9 PM you just call and order what you want off a pretty good size menu. I have to put in the word for the staff in the emergency intake - they really took care of me extremely fast. At one time I had over a dozen people around me checking and testing. Fortunate to live so close to a world-class facility.!!

Stanford is just a Brand. My Father was here for treatment of cirrhosis due to liver cancer. They kept him for 11 days for observation even though they know his diagnoses from months of treatment at Stanford. During the stay my Father was so weak so our family request the doctor have my dad be discharged. They told us they will perform a paracenthesis on the 6th day and will have my dad discharged. We wait until the 11 days for them to do a simple paracenthesis and discharged on the 11th day. My dad has passed away and we are so regret to have him treat at Stanford.

They will put you at risk of catching COVID hereā€¦ I thought everyone was supposed to have mask on I donā€™t feel safe here when it comes to my health. This is definitely not a good look and this needs to stop tell your staff to protect us as well As themselves. I WILL NOT BE BACK HERE AT ALL AND IM SURELY TELLING MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY Go ELSEWHEREā€¦ I spoke to the nurse in charge and she was rude I told her about her staff and she had an attitude about it and was upset with meā€¦ she said I canā€™t take pictures or record I said why? She said itā€™s against policy I didnā€™t sign any papers I also didnā€™t see a sign in the back stating I couldnā€™t record there nurses or staff putting people in harms way.

I have been a patient at Stanford for over a decade. I am lucky enough to to live in this region to have amazing & one of the best hospitals and Dr's. My twins were born at the children's hospital 3 months early, I have had multiple surgeries. I'm very grateful for this amazing hospital.

The sleep study clinic was very professional had no problems with them, they even let me bring in my at-home study since I didnā€™t want to be charged for it. The doctor was fine, they were a little awkward, maybe because they were laughing at how much I would be charged for the 30-minute conversation I had with them. No one discussed the cost of this conversation with me so now I am responsible for a $600 bill (insurance covered about 40% of the $1000). Now, I may just be immature for not knowing how deductibles work, but if you ask me, $1,000 for a conversation is quite frankly a scam considering I was there for the study not the brief consultation. At no point did anyone discuss cost of the consultation with me so here I am responsible for a ā€œconsultationā€ that I had A) no idea how much it would cost and B) no sleep study to show for it. My advice: if you are looking to do quite literally ANYTHING here, please ask how much it would be. They could charge for drinking out of the water fountains or breathing the air outside in the parking lot. Anyway, Iā€™ll get off my soapbox.

I was highly disappointed with the oncology department at stanford. 3 weeks there and they could not resolve my sisters stomach issues and none of the team members were on the same page. We were getting a different answer everyday about what the issue is. They discharged her and she still has the same stomach issue. I have been to hospitals in 3rd world countries with better service. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. All it has is its name. I am a resident dr and wanted to work in stanford but not anymore!!

Good doctors . . . if you can get to one. Stanford Scheduling Dept remains the black eye of this otherwise fine medical system. Totally inflexible, and God help you if you're not the square peg when they've scheduled you for square peg day. 'We're experiencing higher than usual call volume' is Scheduling's team song. Somehow though they never seem to find more schedulers.

The security department on the first floor is very thorough and helpful. The front desk staff was great yesterday and not helpful at all the day before. The nursing staff in B3 is honestly hit or miss. Some days, they have been incredibly helpful. Today, however, I have been trying to get assistance with my grandmother in talking to her husband, and the nurses have said they would call us back twice. I have yet to hear from anyone, and now it's time to leave and visit. I have had one good experience with a nurse by the name of Grace, who is incredibly helpful and goes above and beyond. There was also two more nurses who were exceptional named Marie, and Jacquie, who made our time visiting and my grandfathers time in the hospital much easier! Thank you to the staff who cares!!!

Lord help you if you end up in the emergency room here. The people that are supposed to take care of you and save your life could not care less about you. they're basically playing around and telling each other jokes, when you have critical injuries they're busy sitting around outside flirting with their female colleagues. they don't give you anything when they discharge you, barely walking and they wouldn't give any painkillers, no crutches for sprained ankle, and they are completely incapable of sending a referral letter to your own medical network. They should feel ashamed to even carry the Stanford name, unreal.

Stanford Hospital and its billing department is the most scummy place I've ever seen. At the beginning of this year they made a mistake with my billing information which resulted in my insurance denying claims from them. I called them and sent messages for months while getting auto generated treats to send my information to collectors, while my insurance expected claims with correct information from them. I thought that the issue was resolved when I and insurance representative had a conversation with billing department manager. I checked sevral times that my bills was fully paid after that conversation. I also called them several times to be fully aware that my billing issue was resolved. Until I get auto generated message and several emails from Stanford right on my birthday that I have unpaid balance from March which they would send to collectors. This is absolutely unacceptable, and I'm waiting for the period when I would be able to change my insurance and go away from this scummers.

Recently had a 12 night stay at this hospital following a pelvic fracture and surgery. Hands down the worst medical experience of my life. None of the staff were ever on time with medications despite me screaming and crying in agony. Also to top it off, some of my pain meds were completely left out of my discharge prescription which caused large lapses in pain relief. Sent wheelchair to my home in Texas despite that I couldnā€™t walk. Even after we told them to do whatever necessary to make sure it arrived to the hospital on time so that I could get to the hotel and airport.

Hate it mean I hate it many times I travel with my mom to many doctors appointments and every time the doctor only check her for like ten minute or even five and it annoying because all they say is you donā€™t have this and are already walking out the door and here I thought stand ford was supposed to be some great school on the medical field and look got such a bad experience for our first and only visit.

This is a review about Stanford Health Care in general. Basically, stay the hell away as it has extremely shady billing practices. I made an appointment over the phone, citing my annual free preventive check-up as the reason for my visit. I did the same thing at the office the day of my appointment and to the doctor. I was shocked to receive a bill about two weeks later for over $500. Because I was a first time patient, I was hit with a $441 'new patient' fee that my insurance barely covered. Stanford Health had ample opportunities to tell me I would be charged this fee: I could have been told when making the appointment on the phone or when I showed up to the appointment. Or they could put it on its website. But they kept it a secret and because I have never previously been charged such a fee (I'm 38 - this wasn't my first time visiting a doctor), I never thought to ask. On top of this fee, I was charged $200 for the five minutes it took to remove wax from one ear. Mind you, I was charged for both ears despite the fact the doctor said only one needed to be cleaned because the other was "only 25% blocked". I chalk this up to me not asking if it was covered but the 'new patient' fee is ridiculous. I appealed the 'new patient' fee to Stanford Health billing department but the woman there was incredibly rude and basically stated the charge will not change. Worse, this person stated that if I came in next year and got the same services, I wouldn't be charged meaning it's all semantics and has absolutely nothing to do with the services rendered. I appealed to my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) to fight the fee but they also couldn't care less about patients. My last hope is the California Department of Managed Healthcare. Worse part...I told my wife to go here before the bill came so now we owe nearly $900 for two basic preventative visits. The care from the Stanford doctors is fine but it's not special in any way. Proceed with caution if you decide to go here and make sure you ask what you will be charged. I don't recommend this place at all.

Best hospital! Extremely caring and warm staff that is constantly checking on patients, as well as patients family. I was there for a week every day to visit a close family member admitted at the hospital and was highly impressed by the professionalism, and high level of competence, that I've witnessed in no other hospital EVEr!

Stanford Hospital lost my friend's wallet and van keys during his stay, during a scrambled room change, in which it was carelessly dropped on the floor. The wallet was allegedly placed in a safe, with a tracking number, but could not be located when my friend was discharged. The wallet contained everything, including his birth certificate, SS card, bank card, ID, etc. It also contained his address book with all his contacts. As a homeless individual, the loss of his van keys is the equivalent to the keys to his home. Also on this key ring were 3 small antique keys, which are the only things that my friend owned that had formerly belonged to his mother, and which can never be replaced. Stanford offered no help in finding these items, no compensation, no apology, and no concern. I cannot help but believe that if this had happened to myself or my husband, it would have been handled differently. But since it happened to someone who was homeless, no attempt was made to right this mistake. It has taken months of work and support to replace the wallet contents, but the antique keys and address book can never be recovered, which has caused my friend significant heartbreak. I was shocked and appalled at the lack of concern for this devastating incident.

Id give Stanford 5 Stars but they don't have a clinic in Gilroy, Morgan Hill area. An area that is sorely laking in medical services for their patients. In general, care is very good. They have finally gotten Walk in clinics as sell as Express Care services. It makes it a bit easier, but they still need a full clinic in Coyote Valley.

The Care in healthcare doesnā€™t exist at Stanford. Doctors and nurse staff delay scheduled appointments by an hour, prescribe wrong diagnostic imaging, donā€™t apologize for those mistakes. I had terrible experience with them. Worse than Kaiser or at least as poor patient treatment as Kaiser. Their diagnosis and patient handling has such a poor reputation that my gynecologist also advised me not to visit doctors at Stanford for gynecologist matters.

Visited for a medical lab oratory appointment for our mother. Wonderful layout outside waiting near the water fountains, drinking coffee under a sunbrella, and some free snacks from Stanford guest services passed by in a push cart! Free shuttle to and from parking lot. Great environment for an educational, business, health and research complex!

Stephanie Farajain, RN made my fathers stay here absolutely amazing. She was so kind, professional, caring and attentive with him. He was so frustrated because he wanted to go home and was yelling but she really helped him calm down with so much patience and understanding. She was really an angel in disguise and his stay was absolutely perfect because of her. Anyone who has her as their nurse is in amazing hands! Thank you so much Stephanie :) we really appreciate you!

300 Pasteur Drive- Front desk/information station right when you walk in was very kind and helpful with the couple people working there. They placed calls to the units when I was a bit lost and just had some overall questions for them. Very kind and helpful people. Thank you! Unit E3- Absolutely amazing!!! I love the nurses there. I recognized one nurse from my first stay there by voice immediatley without seeing her while i was in my room on my final stay, 5 weeks after my initial stay in this unit, that's the level of positive impact they had on me. They went above and beyond for me day in and day out during my 2 stays in their unit. All shifts showed they really cared about me not only as a patient that they were forced to take care of but as a human being that they actually wanted to take care of. Huge difference between the two. Even some nurses that weren't assigned to my room, we'd talk it up in the unit hallway making jokes and stories and such, It was nice to know I'd be laughing with these friends every single day being in the hospital. I started chemo on my 30th birthday and they gave me a card and sang happy birthday to me on my first day in which made me feel so damn good inside, they cant even imagine, and gave me a great signed card when I left on my last day, after ringing the bell!!!!!! I'd like to name the 3 or 4 nurses I'll remember forever but I don't know if they want their names out here. If E3 reads this I hope the Fantastic 4 or so of you know who you are and I'll remember you for the rest of my life for how amazing and helpful you were every single time I interacted with you. Laughing with me when im hitting speed bumps while running laps, hahahahahaha. You are fantastic human beings all around, and I miss you all. You made a cancer treatment as easy and enjoyable as possible for me and I am forever grateful. I hope I somehow run into you amazing ladies out of the hospital and can thank you again in person. You are all fantastic people and I wish the best for you all!!!!!!!! 50/10 STARS Unit F3 was horrible. I'd rather die than go back there. Most Nurses are rude and lie a lot, don't care about their patients at all. Clearly only there for the paycheck and it shows, at least in my opinion. Avoid F3 at all costs if you want any form of good hospital care. Almost all should be fired and the hospital should start with new nurses. Really brought down my overall level and thoughts of respect for Stanford.

Due to the building distress, I had to leave the ER while my vital organs are failing. My life and gealth was less important than the breed and other irrelevant personal info abt my service dog!! The staff and medical professionals are unproffesional and unaware of the important role real service dogs!!! They don't care about my ADA rights and basically address my service dog before me. Every single visit to this darn hospital. They insist on personal info abt my service dog, just for their own personal interest. Several Drs have refused to continue my care until I satisfied their ongoing inappropriate breach of my privacy pertaining my service dog's info (always unrelated to my disabilities or the service animal's trained tasks). The arrogance and retaliation of the staff and Drs when, i decline to answer their personal questions, that incriminate me and put my service dog in a harder position of making it harder to work. Its disgusting and this harassment has denied me access to much needed adequate care. They clearly aren't used to accept/respect my boundary or just no. Several nurses, Valet parking staff, abd Drs have used co-workers and other patients to create a public spectacle abt my invisible disabilities and to reinforce answers that are irrelevant to my physical health issues. Listen, there are a lot if fake service dogs at your premises due to the patient's privileged backgrounds. but there are real service dog handlers like myself whom really need you to set an example to the public and co-workers of how to respect the handlers and ignore their Service Dog. Any distraction and invasive personal questions are a breach of privacy and its an abuse of power. In my last ER visit, my service dog insisted on me leaving after the 4th professional focused on the dog as if its a pet, and it didn't want to put me in a situation that could give that staff a reason to deny me access to the entire hospital, as staff truly are rather using the ongoing questions abt the dog as a way to escalate me. The public spectacle and humiliation is harmful and you should be held accountable! To the patient's with fake service dogs, it impacts real service dog owners far beyond this hospital. Your personal opinion isn't overriding Disabled ppl's ADA rights!! "Some disabled Service Dog handlers donā€™t like to chat about their Service Dogs. Most like to go about their day, just like you! Also, never ask personal questions about the handlerā€™s disability or intrude on their privacy. Keep these simple Service Dog etiquette tips in mind, and youā€™ll have a far smoother experience when you see a Service Dog in public. Smile and be polite to the Service Dogā€™s handler, but most of all: Do not pet the Service Dog Do not distract the Service Dog in any way Please ignore the Service Dog entirely. Youā€™re not being rude if you donā€™t acknowledge the Service Dogā€™s presence." From Anything Pawsable

Dangerously incompetent rude nurses & staff. Stanford is far from world class, more like a third world dump. Highest rates of patient infections in the country, #1! Unless you have no other choice, avoid this hospital!

VERY DISAPPOINTING. They were doing so well... Iā€™ve had some very positive experiences at Stanford. However, the recent visit of a family member turned pretty sour, and I realized apparently itā€™s standard practice to medicate and sedate people out of their minds- to the point that they canā€™t even talk. To add to it, the staff spent the entire day trying to drug the woman in the next bed even though she refused the medication at least 50 times. There is no other word for this than elder abuse. Horrifying.

Not very pleased so far. Being able to communicate with Stanford by phone is very challenging. I have three medical problems that I am told two are urgent, yet Interventional Radiology canā€™t seem to schedule an appointment for a procedure, and Iā€™ve been waiting four days now and not one word from them. I canā€™t even get them to answer the phone or return a message, itā€™s like theyā€™re closed. Maybe Stanford isnā€™t a good choice.

Love this hospital. Itā€™s so clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful and doctors are top notch. Iā€™ve had my little cousin come here because of arthritis and the team here is so amazing. This is the only hospital carries the medication she needs to relieve the aches and pain of her joints. I went to Stanford for an annual health exam and discussing some personal concerns. The service was high but I cannot say the same for the billing. My visit was charged as an Office visit which didn't meet my insurance's criteria to offer assistance. When I called their support and asked for guidance they said that they're charging all of the new patients an Office Visit even if it is preventative! On top they suggested that there is no way to file 2 separate claims for the preventative part of the service and that I should have known to have booked a separate appointment. I thought that I would go again but I'm not sure anymore. The cost of the service was pretty high and after being treated so poorly I would expect even worse billing cases in the future.

Staff was very friendly, but the rooms were very uncomfortable. There was a single chair with no kind of accomodations for staying with my dad over night. Any guests that came to visit were constantly shifting in and out of the room due to size. No seating area for guests anywhere near our room and any area we chose to relax in was cramped and uncomfortable.

Great Hospital!! I give it five stars!

Absolutely awful. I gave them 2 stars because there are a handful of nurses who are amazing but I had to spend a week there after a major surgery. Hopefully surgery will heal okay. Regarding ortho drs, awful they rather teach then take care of patients. Maybe saw and heard from them once or twice. Trauma wanted to take a chest tube out bc they werenā€™t sure if it should or should they just wanted to try. A dr should make decisions with confidence. I made them one wait one more day. Most Olof nurses forgot to bring me medicine I had to call and remind them. And the communication between Drs was the worse. Trauma came in one morning And said they weā€™re waiting to discharge me because they wanted to see my final CT scans and XRays. I had to tell them that both were done the night before. They had no idea. Donā€™t go here!

Frustrated by Stanford's opaque billing practices. Care is very expensive and it is difficult to estimate how much it will cost beforehand (I was given an estimate for an office visit of "$150-800, but could be more or less" - not helpful at all!)

Doctors care more about teaching than they care about treatment of patients. We did have several nurses in the 2C wing that were super. The nurses really went above and beyond helping during our time there.

Very few Korean speaking doctors in the network. No Korean language provider in the language search filter. I would not recommend to Korean speaking community. Switching from Aetna Open Select to Anthem HMA.

Although the quality of care I received on my short ER visit seems to have been decent, the billing system is exceptionally poor and completely lacks transparency. I am insured with pretty decent employer-based coverage, yet Stanford Healthcare has hit me with multiple bills totaling hundreds of dollars, on multiple months since my visit. The charges listed appear to be for the exact same services, yet they keep rolling in. Had I lacked insurance, apparently the very simple X-ray and consultation I received would have cost upwards of $3,000. I do not recommend Stanford Healthcare. Although their problems are surely indicative of a broken American healthcare system, I have to believe that other health systems are doing this better, and if I have further health issues I intend to explore those options more thoroughly.

Keep in mind this event took place inside of a hospital with sick people and germs everywhere. I have a unique perspective of having worked with these individuals temporarily. I came to work a breakfast holiday event for the cancer center. I've been in the industry 25 years and I have never encountered such unsafe food handling practices, impatient, rude, culturally clique-ishness and disorginization. The women who organized the event were a pack of "Karens" to the worst degree. There wasn't enough food or supplies in a timely manner, no plan for execution, the "Karens" kept getting in the way and each of them would ask the same questions over and over. Example: the event was due to start at 7:30. From 7:05 until 7:20 (when I eventually walked out the service area) one of them came in to ask if it was ready every 10-30 seconds. The person who was supposed to be in charge- Marcus, was m.I.a. for most of the event, leaving in charge a group of Latina girls who spoke mostly in Spanish to one another, didn't know what they were doing. I watched The "Karens" put food service lids on the bare floor, touch food with their bare hands and completely ignore the dangerous environment of live food service to come and hover.over the workers like Gestapo. Served food. That should have been kept warm, on a cold plate because they didn't.want to wait for the stern set-up. If they are treating guest workers like trash and disregard food safety....what are they doing to the helpless people on their care. Oh, I also had to pay for parking which is bogus.

Speedy, considerate, incredibly polite -- impressively and delightfully civilized! Every person with whom I interacted seemed very happy with whatever they we're doing in the world, and it came out in how they treated everyone around them. Whoever would have predicted you could have fun going to the emergency department?????

My son came down with the flu at school and I wanted to get him seen ASAP to get Tamiflu. Could not get in to see his primary care physician. Went to Stanford ER. We were quickly triaged and determined to be more of an urgent case, than a true emergency. The doctor ran the test confirmed it was flu, gave my son a Tamiflu and called in the prescription after telling me the pros and cons of the medication and off we went. Very professional in all respects.

I have never been to any of the Stanford Medical Centers. My initial impression from speaking with the receptionist about making an appointment is highly negative. I called the Back and Spine department and had some questions. She couldn't have care any less.

I did not have the best experience at Stanford Hospital this was my first time being admitted there. I'll take some pictures and tell you about it later. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Some of the staff was really good.

I have to give praise to Kaiser. They took care of me when I was completely paralyzed and without the ability to speak. I was completely aware of everything and still felt pain. I remember the ambulance and the helicopter ride to Stanford and remember being in a weird room, my head, surrounded by these articulating panels, and nurses in full garb telling me to be still. Stanford pulled the clots out of my brain in that window of opportunity that doctors scream about. We need more of these systems around the US. They save lives and give you back most of what you were, pre-stroke. My experience has taught me alot.....God Bless ? 3 years later, I'm still pressing on in life. All is good. My hiking days are done but I still love getting out on my own. I understand my limitations but now see everything through a different lens.... 2020 update: After a whole body paralyzing triple stroke, without the ability to speak; thanks to Stanford, I'm working at Samsung Austin Semiconductor transversing 4.5 million square feet of wafer fabrication and responsible for billions of dollars worth or equipment. Thank you Stanford.....

The hospital was spacious and comfortable like a park, and the space where guardians could rest was as comfortable as a hotel.

šŸ‘šŸ‘ This is my favorite hospital. They saved my life when I was battling cancer at 2 years old. They treat you like family. When I see my doctor, they are often friendly, kind, and caring. I love that they have a security gate for the parking area, too. It makes me feel more safe than other hospitals. I...
