Great place to visit for learning about history or for eating at small restaurants. Walking trails have posted information about the War of 1812. I highly recommend the area for exploring.

Didn’t know about this negative history in Sackett. Walked around and looked at the historical sites and red placard’s along the way there is a nice hiking trail about a mile long with parking in several areas.

Neat little walk through for a historical battlefield for the war of 1812. An interactive chunk of the visit was neat. Our tour guide was well informed, but we can't quite remember her name. She did great!

This is one of my go to spots when I'm visiting Watertown. It's so beautiful and historic. I absolutely love it. There's a walking path with placards that tell about the war of 1812. There are a few historical buildings left that are just stunning. There's a large green space for kids to run around and play.

If you're looking for something to do and enjoy little bits of history knowledge or even just a nice scenic walk, this place is quite nice. I'm not huge into history but it was rather nice learning about all that happened right here! I'm a little bummed that we didn't look more at where horse island was but it was neat learning about all of it. It's a nice walking path around and the view on the water is lovely too! Stroller friendly!

Loved this place. I went before the official start of the season, so none of the buildings were open and there were no tours, but I was still able to understand and appreciate the history. I am from the area and it was fascinating to learn about the intense hand-to-hand combat that took place here and the heavy British losses. I had no idea this occurred so close to my home. The battlefield is rather small and it doesn't take long to walk it. The setting is beautiful, with lovely trees and a wonderful view of the lake and a peaceful trail through the woods. I look forward to going again and seeing the place filled with re-enactors.

A great park and historical site right down town… perfect walk or bike with amazing views. Trail has chronological and educational storyline regarding the War of 1812 and the role of Fort Tompkins.

Nice little stop and walk while in town. A few great educational plaques and boards around the site with details about the battle and fort. Great place for the kids to run and play while learning some history. A nice geocaching stop near the entrance.

We had a great tour from Amy today of the Commandant's House ! She was quite knowledgeable and friendly. The gift shop is quite nice with a wide selection and great prices. Before the tour (available every hour)you can read about the history and watch videos while you wait. We walked around the entire grounds and listened to the audio on the phone (qr code available on several of the signs) as we walked. Fantastic views !

Very clean, well kept park. Easy walking loop. We didn't do any of the houses but with more time would have.

A small but beautiful and historic state park located on the Lake Ontario waterfront in the village of Sackets Harbor, New York. The park was of major significance in the War of 1812. An interpretive trail, remaining buildings and displays add to the enjoyment. Seasonal events are also held in the park.
