The artist market is such a unique tourist experience!! I loved all the handmade, items. Belts, bags, purses, wallets, pottery, clothes, shoes, toys and soooo much more!! I love this place and the people there were so helpful and kind. I don't speak Spanish and most of them don't speak English. I used Google translate and spent several hours here!!!! I went back 2 different days and definitely could have gone back a 3rd day!!!! I still didn't see everything!!!

Very nice place to visit! Many historic buildings and lots to see. There is a street market nearby where you can get fresh fruit and vegetables. Friendly people as well!

If you want to go tourist shopping in an outdoor mall, you might really love this place. This was the least interesting thing we did on our trip. This is an open air market for crafts and various other things. Wood carvings, masks, pottery, sculpture, leather works, tshirts, etc. There were a couple dozen shops selling variations on the same themes. Over and over. The shopkeeps were very nice and the place felt clean and safe. It was all very nice but now that we have been there and done that, I can't imagine ever going back again.

At the time we were there it was so quite and not that many shops were open. However, there were some, and there was a variety of things. Nice work from different artisans. It's a well organized market and easy to navigate. There are some beautiful hammocks and leather goods for sale, but it's mostly cheap souvenir stuff.

The old mercado in the center of Masaya. This market dates back to the colonial times of the late 19th century. The entrances look at though they belong at a castle in ancient Europe. The little stores sell typical tourist fare but there are definitely some items to bring back to your home country that will make you remember Nica. We also happened upon traditional Nica dancing in the market.

It's just a repeat of everything you see everywhere else. Not a true artist's colony where people actually show their skills. It's just mass production factory produced goods at a price not worth paying because it's not original, nor is it creative.

This is a beautiful little market. Beware of the man on the street that try to help you park or watch your car, parking is always free on the street in Nicaragua so you don’t have to give them any money, they would still try and wash your car even if you don’t ask for it and then ask for payment. I honestly only piece it displays because of the typical dish “baho”. It’s way overpriced and a lot of sellers offer the same thing for different prices

If you want to find good souvenirs this is one of the best places and it resides inside an old 100yr old fortress and the prices there are cheaper. But the people do charge 2 to 3x the amount so you can pay that or you can haggle a lower price. There is also great food and drinks you can get there.

This is a really nice and famous artisan Craft market. They have every kind of artisan craft you could imagine and then some. One of the things they have that is very nice is a lot of hammocks. These are really well done. They could quite easily be sold in the United States or elsewhere for real profit. That would help both the artisans here and whoever is taking them to another country. They are very reasonably priced. By all means, when you're here, check this place out. It's famous, and worth spending some time. You will surely come away with things that will help you remember your trip.

It is a fun experience for people new to Nicaragua. You can have fun negotiating your price if you wish. Most shops have generally the same items. Currently it appears that many shops have closed since the last time I was there. But generally it is pretty mellow to walk around looking at the wares. Most shop attendants will invite you in.

My first time in a foreign country market, amazing! The prices are incredibly cheap, and there are so many wonderful things to see there!!!

Alot of beautiful art, decorations, and artifact. It is very clean and well kept. Prices are almost double on certain items compared to the new market a few blocks away (which isn't as spacious for walking but it does have clothing items sold in bulk and individually as well as some decorative/ souvenir items).

We have lived in Nicaragua for 8 years and still enjoy the occasional visit to this market. Many fine quality items mixed in with the typical tourist stuff. Venders are generally friendly and willing to negotiate depending on the item and potential for a larger sale.

Great market with a looot of souvenirs. The sellers give good prices and are willing to negotiate the price. There is a small Folklore museum with great explanations and stuff to see.

Central Masaya artisanal market. Lots to see and authentic Nicaraguan crafts to purchase. I'm told it's much less crowded than before COVID. Support Nicaraguan artisans and buy some stuff.

Pretty fun place to shop and eat. There are many little restaurants. Lots of little souvenir shops. Getting there is a little sketchy since the streets are small and taxi drivers are pretty aggressive, but hey its Nicaragua.
