We only went here for the food while staying in Masindi and it was really nice. They are specialized on Indian food and both the dishes we ordered (chicken and fish curry) were well prepared as were the naan breads. Also the outside seating area is very cozy with good lighting and a bar. Would recommend visitors to Masindi to go here if they would want to try something else than Irish potatoes

The oldest hotel in Uganda. This place deserves a face-lift and a proper marketing campaign.

The last surviving of the great Uganda hotel dinosaurs. Masindi Hotel is living history - it captures and retains the golden moments from colonial days to date. All this expressed in its structure, design, service and ambience. Everyone interested in a blend of Uganda's history with contemporary hotel luxury, should sleep here at least once in their lifetime!

This is noted to have been the first hotel in Uganda..100years old. The hotel has maintained it's original architectural design that makes it unique. The rooms however need some upgrading and.so is the breakfast

Order breakfast to go, I was the only one in the restaurant. It took a bit longer than I anticipated or longer than I felt it should have been

Stopped for an acceptable lunch. Service good. Apparently it's the oldest hotel in Uganda. Colonial feel about it.

It's a beautiful place in terms of fair price accommodation and food. However, there is too much noise from the near by bus and taxi pack. It makes sleep hard

There is need for revamp of bathroom and rooms require a reading table or work station , an extra warm duvet/ blanket for cold weather to get value for money.

The hotel is the best in town. Rooms and bathroom are okay but would need some overhaul. Beds and pillows are excellent. Choose a room as far from the main road as possible. Traffic noise is quite disturbing. Take some insecticide with you. Plenty mosquitoes. Hotel staff is very attentive and try to make your stay pleasant. The restaurant has some good food. I think Indian dishes are the best. The Breakfast is perfect.

Was very happy with Masindi Hotel. There is a lot of history here! A recent change of management have brought along many improvements and will continue to maintain and revitalize facilities. The owner is super friendly and all staff members were very accommodating. Breakfast was simple but good in the rainy season, dinner at the restaurant was tasty. Overall very pleasant stay.

This is the oldest hotel in Masindi in Uganda. I have stayed here for the first time during my Uganda upcountry visit. Then it was a relic of colonial history (Hemingway emphatically, Hepburn and such and such) - however hotel is on a noisy road from where noise of vehicles keep on coming day and night. We were the only guests at breakfast and asked for some better vegetarian options to eat. The lovely, quiet, breakfast area is ok kind of place. Staff at check-in tried to talk lot much on no price discounts but still Mr Opio provided room in which fan has lot of noise. And I suppose we can expect nothing else. But as guests it would be nice to at have a welcome and a smile

Si voulez faire le safari au Murchison Falls National Park and don’t want or can’t stay in the park (hotels or lodge) you can sleep at Masindi hotel and leave early. Their breakfast is ready very early btw. Staff is very kind and available. Rooms are clean and descent. WiFi is very good

The experience was amazing, this hotel has a lot of history from over the years of being the oldest hotel in Uganda. The room service and staff were very hospitable for each guest. Their gift shop has a lot of wonderful things to purchase for souvenirs. The bedrooms are very comfortable and you should enjoy it.

The best hotel on my road trip so far. Clean room, high-speed WiFi, great service. Powerful shower, which is what you want at the end of a dusty day. The was lovely. It's a bit pricey, but well worth the money.

It's the oldest hotel in the area. It's kept in pretty good shape for being over 100 years old. It was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. If we ever visit Murchison Falls again I would not hesitate to stay there again! It was quiet. The bed was comfortable. There was an ambiance about the place that just gave you a good feeling. It was reasonably priced.

The receptionists gave me a warm welcome after arrival at the hotel and I love ❤ that, having a good location because it is at the sides of the town, good security, their is enough parking space for people who have cars, the local dish(beef and caloo) was too good, the rooms are big enough and clean with excellent room service and at standard level, the workers are so friendly to any one and I enjoyed my stay at the hotel.

What an amazing experience!!!! Not only is the hotel beautiful, it is full of some incredible history. The thing that stuck out the most was the staff. The employees went out of the way to make sure we had everything we needed from the rooms, to the food… down to the afternoon coffee and tea. The owner (Rahim) took us on a tour and invested time showing us how much he valued maintaining the history as well as making the place self sustaining. I can’t speak highly enough about our experience and encourage anyone in the area to visit this beautiful hotel.

I have stayed here multiple times and consistently have a lovely experience. The staff are exceptional and accommodating. The courtyard provides a great space to relax outside your room, and it boasts an interesting history and lovely grounds to explore. I always enjoy my time here and can’t wait to return.

This historic hotel is just as amazing as the grounds, the owner and the service! We received a personal tour of the entire grounds and all of the rich history from the owner himself. The food and staff were as accommodating, if not more, than any high end American hotel. A truly one of a kind experience. No question I will be back!

Best hotel in 150km radius around Masindi. I've stayed there several times and everytime i had great experience. Rooms are nice and clean, the food at restaurant is excellent. Only minus is the new staff at restaurant, they are sometimes very slow.

This 100 year old hotel is a bit outdated, for example the showers are in high bathtubs that are awkward to get in and out, all the fixtures are outdated. The floors were painted cement. The rooms were very clean and roomy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Being 100 years old, built by the Kenya Uganda Railway, it has a bit of a historic feel. The dining room was filled with antique African artifacts. The thing that spoiled our stay was they charged us for breakfast that was supposed to come with the room. The food in general was not great but was OK.

Prior to visiting the hotel, I had read a lot about it and I was excited about the trip to Murchison Falls. I'm happy to report that I wasn’t disappointed by what I saw and felt. The hotel is beautiful, clean, great decor, Food was excellent!. Their service was second to none made me feel at home. From the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth and welcoming love of the place right at the gate. Did you know that Masindi Hotel was built in 1923 and it is Uganda’s oldest hotel?.and that Ernest Hemingways the writer spent his time here recovering from a plane crash, not one but two plane crashes? You can learn all and more about this in the hotel. In fact what I liked most is that the room that Ernest Hemingways stayed at the hotel and his room, is still in place I highly recommend this hotel for any traveller who plans to visit Uganda. Thank you Masindi Hotel family for making my stay a memorable one. i will definitely be coming back

One of the most peaceful places i have stayed in Uganda. Amazing service, easy access, very friendly staff and management. The food is pocket friendly and menu offers a good variety. I would recommend it as a great stop place to stay if you are going to visit Murchison Falls and don't want to stay in the park or as a stop over as you drive to Hoima

I love the ambience of Masindi hotel, the old colonial style buildings and wood work evoke a feeling of living in its history. The staff was professional and made us feel special. It was amazing and humbling to experience such hospitality at Uganda's oldest hotel.
