Xochimilco Mexican Food is a true hidden gem for those seeking affordable, high-quality Mexican cuisine. Their prices are incredibly reasonable, offering great value for the quality of food you receive. What sets them apart is the outstanding taste of their dishes. From the savory tacos to the flavorful enchiladas, every bite is a burst of authentic Mexican flavors. The combination of affordability, quality, and taste makes Xochimilco a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Mexican food without breaking the bank.

My husband’s & my favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield! We’ve been going here for years & several of the staff members know our most common orders. We’ll also never forget how at our 2nd visit years ago, the waiter remembered our names & other things that we had told him months earlier. Awesome service & the food is amazing!!!

This place sure does break the mold for a good quality Mexican restaurant. I went in to order some guacamole to go today, and found that a Dixie cup size of guac was four dollars, and that is with no chips! That is an excellent business model for losing customers!

The Fiesta Fajitas pictured were very well prepared. Most places do not cook the vegetables enough, but this place did a great job. The flavors of the various meats all blended well together, and the chorizo was not overpowering, as it sometimes can be. The tamale had too much masa, and not enough pork, but most restaurants do this. The queso was pretty average, and the salsa was above average. Our server was good and kept our drinks filled. I would definitely return to this restaurant if I'm ever in the area again.

Springfield home run for authentic Mexican. The server spoke little English but once we got past that from the margarita to the main course, everything was delicious. Will visit again.

Visited May 20th, 2023. The 2 meals that we ordered was TERRIBLE- 3 chicken taco platter the food was dry and barely warm, the beans & rice very bland my sister could NOT eat it. I had the #8 combo/ground beef (enchilada, 2 tacos & tapacheese) all of my items were cold, the lettuce was very old, wet, & wilted. The melted cheese was so abundant until it made everything way TOO SALTY. I am a Chef & I removed the disgusting lettuce, combined the bland beans & rice with the overly salted items & had the food reheated which fixed the temperature issue & balanced out the salt a little bit. However, I don't enjoy paying good money to revamp my meal at my table & having to instruct the server on what temperature my food should be or how to reheat it. PERHAPS at sometime IN THE PAST, XOCHMILCO restaurant MAY have earned it's awards that are displayed on the front wall, BUT AS OF MAY 2023 my OPINION as a Chef, no accolades from me. I have to say THE FOOD THAT I RECEIVED WAS NOT award worthy, or GOOD & I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUSINE. My meal & experience here was terrible & a waste of money. My message to the Owner: It may be time to hire new cooks. Chef Sheila

Had lunch there today. Two tamales, beans and rice. Food was very bland. We asked for more salsa to put on our food (to try to spice it up a little). The server did not bring the salsa until we were able to ask a second time and then he brought it as we were getting ready to leave. Our drinks were not refreshed once! Will not go back.

The food was amazing, but the only thing bad about this place was that the waiters understood English but didn’t speak it Beaty well so it was kinda hard to understand. The bathroom was nice and clean I would definitely recommend going here!

My wife and I tried Xochimilco after at least 10 years. We are in the area for a few days. We were seated right away, fast service on drink delivery. Seemed like food was ready in 15 minutes, and very good. Friendly and helpful staff. We will return.

It was a Cinco de Mayo visit. The place was packed. The line was out the door. I was able to go right in, alone, and sit at the bar. I ordered nacho supreme. I received a beef nachos. My bartender spotted it was wrong and asked me if I wanted it fixed. I didn't mind. It was great, especially with the double shot of tequila for the wrong food. It was ultimately a win and I would do it all over again.

Food was ok. Had chimichangas and refried beans. Tasted fine but it was just dumped on the plate with no attempt to make it look appealing. Flan is always my favorite dessert and it was delicious, but it looked a bit pathetic as the custard was unceremoniously dumped in the middle of the plate and served with a spoon. Usually there is a carmal sauce or an adornment of some type to make it look nice, like a little dollop of whip cream and maybe a cherry. Not tonight. Wish I'd gotten a picture, it was a little sad, but it was delicious, just the same.

Went for a late lunch. We shared guacamole, then I had shrimp delight and my wife had cheese quesadillas. Excellent server. The food arrived quickly and was pipping hot. Large portions. A good place to eat.

Amazing service and atmosphere. I would recommend that they switch the tomato side for a Pico DE Gao. ♡ But that's just a personal preference. We loved how fast our service was and the amount of food that was given to us for the price. Our waiter was very fast and respectful during our lunch meal. Highly Recommend. 😀😃

I normally love this place! But tonight service was sub-par... our waiter rushed us when ordering. They were not busy. So, really no need to rush us like that. Had to ask more than once for the cheese dip we ordered. Our drinks were tasty but i wish it was known that whipped cream came on the daiquiri i ordered. As i would have asked for none. My fajitas were not that hot.. normally comes out still sizzling from the kitchen. But seemed like it had sat there waiting for someone to bring it to us. Normally amazing service and food. I will go again as i love this place, just disappointed in tonights food and service.

Delicious food and great service. We were seated across from the loudest talking woman on the planet, but that's not their fault. We had to fajitas for 2. It was filling and good value.

I work all around the city ao ive tried many places. The lunch special here for six dollars is one of the very best values ive found in springfield, also comes with chips and salsa. I got the lunch burrito with rice and beans and chips for six dollars. Most places i cant get below 15. Most bang for your buck from what ive seen after eating dozens of places around springfield

We went on a surprisingly busy Wednesday night. They serve classic Tex-Mex fare. Alcohol available. The ambiance inside and the menu reminds me of all the best small, independent Tex-Mex restaurants you'd expect in a nice neighborhood. I think a family owns and runs it. Eating there hits that comfortable feel you want when you go out for enchiladas. Skip your pizza night and get happy.

This spot is well-liked in Springfield. For several years it has won Best Mexican Restaurant in the Illinois Times', "Best of Springfield Readers Poll." The awards fill up the walls. I’ve gotten the fajitas, carne asada and a burrito on 3 separate occasions and was pleased with all three meals. As a bonus, there is ample seating, so it's a good choice if you're going out with a larger group.
