πŸ‘ Beautifully laid graves dating back more than 100 years. Have a peaceful and solemn walk along the gravestones and nearby trees. Do not bring your superstitious mom along the walk.

Lovely peaceful & historic cemetary with park like gardens and a wee dell. Lots of old, mature trees to keep you close to nature despite being right next the motorway. Plenty of places to rest (for the living that is!) Great place to take a breather from the office & the business of the city. πŸ™πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§Žβ€β™€οΈπŸ«‚βš˜οΈπŸ™

An enjoyable walk through the cemetery above the city. Just 10-15 minutes walk from the docks and parliament buildings. Well set up and information leaflets available at the top entrance giving information on the numbered posts throughout the cemetery letting you know who is here. Can you find who reached 101!

An incredible place to contemplate death and the past. History is very much alive in this cemetery that tells its story on each headstone. If you enjoy introspection and thoughtfulness, you should definitely visit this place.

Finally we found Jane Morshead (Symons -Wright) 150 year old grave and gardened for two hours! She was a 1841 pioneer and her home was Goathurst Farm where Brooklyn School is today. Jane’s first husband James Symons drowned in the Otaki River. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all find a grave to care for?

A surprisingly pleasant walk in the dead centre of Wellington. Highly recommend the informative guided tours that are periodically offered by the council volunteers. Great place to bury yourself in the city’s early history for an afternoon

Worth a visit, a hidden gem in the CBD. Peaceful, lovely gardens and some history lessons when reading the old headstones.

Really old headstones, some pioneers of new Zealand. Worth a visit if you're interested in NZ historical grave sites. This is right in the heart of Wellington CBD

A beautiful, historic cemetery that's great for walking to explore the history of Wellington, or running through to experience its serene nature. Some of the off-shoot trails are slipper and steep, though.
