Nice place but bad food (and very expensive)

nice landscape & view, foods were really tasty and worth the price, but the service was not satisfying. Here's the detail, I was just finish snorkeling and tried to find nice restaurant for lunch and use the bathroom for change. When I came to Vila Ombak restaurant, I ask for a table for 2 persons & ask if I could use the bathroom for change, the waitress think that we just wanna borrow cutlery as if she wanted to drive us out. However then she apologized to us and said that it was just misunderstanding. After order some foods, I ask the waiter if we could swim in the pool or not, he said it's okay. We took some photos in the swimming pool then the waitress (the one who think that we're just wanna borrow cutlery) came & said that we shouldn't swim because we're not a hotel guest. WHAT? it was so embarrassing for me. Were all the hotel/restaurant staff know the rules well? Why do they give us different answers? :( Okay, then I went to the bathroom for change as I waited for the foods. I was changing & using the shower when the cleaning service (A man) suddenly walked into the bathroom, he walked back and forth, again and again. Even when I'm not finished put a veil on my head and he came again. I scold on him and he was just say 'sorry'. Tolong lah adat timur dijaga, walaupun banyak wisatawan asing tapi sopan santun & adab sbg warga timur harus tetap dijaga, jangan sampai cleaning service laki-laki masuk ke toilet wanita saat sedang ada wanita di sana, paling enggak kan bisa bilang 'permisi' klo emang kepepet udah jadwalnya bersihin toilet. Dan untuk pelayan nya, coba ramah ke semua tamu jangan cuma ke wisatawan asing aja, dari awal dateng udah dijutekin. Beneran jadi males bgt ngasih tip.

We stayed recently for two days. Rooms are old with broken taps and doors. Bathroom is huge but very old design. Bed is comfortable but the overall vibe is sad and old. Location is good. Not much food options for vegeterians. Overall i do not recommend this property. Its over rated

Vila Ombak Hotel in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia is a charming 4-star hotel with spacious rooms and breathtaking scenery. I came to Gili to get my diving certificate and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was amazing ! I booked the Traditional Lumbung Hut and it was quite an experience! This was my first time staying in a room like this and I loved it. Your bed is inside the hut, and downstairs is the toilet, shower, and sink. It’s like staying in a treehouse. Staff was warm and friendly, and you get free breakfast every morning of your stay. If I visit Gilli in the future I will definitely book here again.

The hotel is fine. The pool area is beautiful and the green spaces are also nice and well kept. Breakfast is OK. I thought that the rooms were a bit old and I think it's strange that the bathrooms have windows without glass so insects can come in.

Stayed here for 3 nights, arrived at 10:30 am and we got into the room immediately which was great! The staff made us feel special and welcome from the first moment, all of them were extremely attentive and nice. So far, the best hospitality and customer service I experienced in Indonesia. Would definitely recommend and come back! The room was far from the lobby but no complaints about it since the location of the hotel is so close to everything, that after party we could go to the room and have a great and quiet sleep. Breakfast was good, I would recommend to ask omelettes to the chefs, they are also extremely friendly and patient. Used the swimming pool every day and was amazing too! Thanks a lot, see you next year Vila Ombak 😊

For our visit to the Gili Islands this May we stayed over at Vila Ombak & oh we had such a wonderful time. Close to the strip & harbour but without the hustle & bustle of it the location of the hotel is perfect for those looking for a more relaxed stay at Gili T. Our room was a cute cabin which gave us the ultimate island experience. There were 2 pools, one in the front & one in the back which was more quiet. And of course there is the beach. The hotel also offers a bike rental service which we highly recommend using. As the island isn’t so big you can easily discover it by bike and this allows you to look around and discover many cute spots to stop along, The breakfast was well taken care of & the food at the buffet restaurant at the beach was just incredible. We especially loved the grilled dishes. We highly recommend staying here when visiting Gili T. Big thank you for this amazing experience Vila Ombak!

Got the room very far from the lobby. Thankfully we rent electric scooter so it helps alot. The staff average friendly but still nice. The worst part is the air conditioner. Very small AC for such big room. We cannot sleep well because the room temperature not good even we set up the AC to the coolest setting. Bed average. Breakfast average. The pool was great.

Perfect location on the island! Between the local market end the sunset! Really good buffet as well at night! And I can't recommend more the rooms, the bed is a cloud! So many pillows! And the pool is really cool as well!

Inside rooms are clean, but the overall villas building are badly in need of maintenance and touch up. They have garden with outdoor chess tables and billiard table. Both are dirty. With average of 2mio per night, they should do better housekeeping to keep up with surrounding hotels. The hidden pool are dirty with dead flies, dead bugs and leaves on the water surface. Go for the main pool instead as the water is much clearer. They have happy hour buy 1 get 1 promo for cocktails, and they are pretty good with 100k each, you get 2 glass of same item, very good value.

this place is amazing!! they have huge rooms with outdoor bathroom, such a cozy place to spend your day in Gili T. the location is strategic also, near the center of Gili T, so u can walk everywhere or just rent a bike to explore more. i recommend to rent a bike because this place is huge! every room is like cottage and distance between each other is kinda far, just rent a bike.

Buffet experience was ok. 200 rupias all you can eat Not many options available when is late. You should go early. The servers were very friendly and the food was not bad. Should have more options for example only ONE soup and super spicy. Only 2 options for dessert chocolate flan and 3 types of fruits, not enough in my opinion.

NEVER BOOK THIS PROPERTY The staff here is not at all welcoming. We carried our own heavy luggage and since a bag my wife was carrying was heavy so she requested the bell boy to carry and he gave angry looks to her We booked Traditional Lombok hut and believe me it was smallest room I have ever seen in my life. On the room details they have mentioned 527 sq ft, but room is just 20 sq ft out of that. And rest is the patio and the washroom. They denied giving us more water bottles, they said you have to buy from the nearby store. This is just pathetic. How can a hotel deny giving drinking water to their guest. This is unlawful. I can sue them in their Indonesian Jurisdiction. Lastly, from morning 8 am some drilling work started which disturbed our sleep as well. Overall, I will not recommend you to stay here, there are lot and lot of good properties in Gili Trawangan and in much cheap prices.

very aesthetic, great clean and big rooms, cost effective, very friendly and helpful staff, good crowd as well, not very loud at night too, close to both sunset points in west and party places in east and even close to the ferry great scuba diving facility available here too v good for beginners as again staff is very helpful. very big bathroom. great pools, there are 2 of them kid friendly only problem was that in one of our rooms the air conditioner wasnt working but they did offer us another room instead, overall great place as its close to the port as well. cycles were available at 50,000 IDR for half a day

We had a great experience at Villa Ombak. The location of the hotel is really good and close to where all the action is. Its quite a huge property and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The staff is also very friendly. Special shout out for Hasbi who took great care of our comfort and was very friendly. The rooms and bathroom are spacious too. It's great value for money.

Had a fantastic family stay at Hotel Ombak Villa in Gili T. Spacious rooms, though some facilities seem dated. Convenient location, just 300m from the ferry terminal (horse carriage at 100k for heavy luggage). Impressive breakfast with diverse options; enjoyed the outdoor buffet. The spa's one-hour massage was rejuvenating, thanks to a skilled and friendly masseuse. Special thanks to Bayu Irawan from Reservations for the surprise room upgrade and outstanding hospitality. Overall, a memorable experience!

I didn't visit the hotel. But I used the all-you-can-eat buffet with my girlfriend. It was really tasty with fresh seafood. The BBQ is at the beach and every one can join it for 250k. I ate a lot of prawns. 🤤🤩

So let’s start from the beginning the hotel is in Gili Trawangan to get there you need to take a speed boat from Bali roughly 2 h and bumpy. But when you arrive on the island it is worth it. There is no cars only horse carriages and bikes. You can rent a bike in front of the hotel. The hotel has 2 pools pool bar breakfast facility. The rooms are big kind off old school vibes, but the shower and toilet outside make up for it, it is something aparat of usual. We really liked it. Breakfast has good variety of food fruits and juices. All in all would recommend. It was fun

A surprisingly large hotel reaching far back into the island. The reception lobby, pool and restaurant are very well laid out. They seem to merge together very well. For those members of the team who wish to have a swim with a bit more privacy, there is a second pool away from all the activity at the front of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Everything I wanted was there. I had an omelette. The chef said he made over a hundred a day! He made it to order with my selection of additions. With the omlette I had some beef bacon and beef sausages. There was fruit, cereal and croissants, too. Our room was unusual. It was a traditional style with an outdoor resting area on the ground floor. The bedroom was upstairs in a Lombok style chalet type of room. It was cozy and comfortable with an air conditioning unit over the large bed. There was a small sliding door at the back of the room leading to a staircase down to an outside bathroom! It was lovely! What a pleasure to shower outside under the stars at dawn. There was no danger of being cold or of being overlooked. There was hot water, too, and a surprising lack of insects, even at night. Well done to achieve all this where the only way of getting anything onto the island is by man handling it! Amazing! Oh, everything worked, too! That's quite unusual round here!

One of the best hotels in Gili Trawangan. There is no 5 stars hotel in Gili but this hotel feels like one. The location is close to the Trawangan harbor, you can just walk by foot to reach the hotel or rent a cidomo. Small boats for snorkeling can pick up people in front of the hotel. Hotel is very clean, big but not building type. One room and others are quite far of each other. Inside the room, it's HUGE, even the bathroom. I kept asking to their staff why their bathroom is bigger than the bedroom. But I can say it's very comfortable. Recommended!

Fabulous location, pool area and landscaping but few major issues as well. It probably used to be the best hotel on Gili T but 10 year ago. Now it's in big need of maintenance, we got 5 splinters from the pool deck which is a trip hazard, two had to be removed in the medical centre, our swimwear turned yellow probably from chemicals in the pool, breakfast was average but included in price and there were fruit flies everywhere so not very hygienic. Our room was large but was very dark. There's also a cell phone tower on the property boundary that may bother some people but may as well be a positive for those in need of a good data connection :) I hope it will be returned to it's former glory in the future because it is a beautiful hotel.

Staff are super helpful, you can book everything through the front desk including trips. Cocktail swim up bar is epic and great food so you don’t have to leave. Room could of been more updated, and better ventilation in the bathrooms

Excellent green and big property with wonderful swimming pool.. 5 minute walking from port. If you have big luggage, horse cart recommended.

The resort was a good location with friendly staff. Can't fault our room. It was tidy and clean. However overall, the resort is looking a bit tired and in need of some maintenance.

I rarely give 5 stars, but this hotel deserves it. We were staying in other hotel before and we regret why we don’t come to this hotel since the first day. The location is perfect for us (we are family with kids), its close to downtown but has quite vibes. Also its not far to the turtle spot and the sunset spot.The pool is great and the kids are super happy with that. The room is spacious and we love the open bathrooms. The staffs, the breakfast, the beach are wonderful. Overall, sure we gonna come back to this hotel if we visit Gili again.

I would definitely stay at Vila Ombak again, I really enjoyed their pool and the room was quite nice as well. The staff here are really lovely! I think however the breakfast buffet could definitely be further improved!

I want to give them 5 stars because the staff are amazing But I can’t… The positives were our room was tidied every day, clean linens and such, pools are great to hang out at. I will preface, we were here for a week and have been on Gili T for about a month. Staying at 4 places, a week at a time. Negatives that I believe can be fixed: The WiFi never worked for me a single time during my stay, no matter where I was located around the property and they have many WiFi boxes but to no avail the entire stay. Thankfully my phone service works here but I definitely ate up data. The building conditions are definitely in need of a facelift. We originally booked a Hut because it looked awesome in the photos. The one they took us too was creaky and seemed to be falling apart, it looked like a termites heaven and I’m not too concerned with bugs as I live in the Caribbean but this was bad. You also had to climb down a ladder to go to the bathroom or you have to get dressed to go down the stairs in the front of the building outside the room to go. So they let us move to a Terrace room which was much better but the buildings are in dire need of remodeling. Wood was molding or had termite trails so I’m not sure when this resort was built but it’s definitely time for a facelift. The food is okay but insanely overpriced but that’s what you get for convenience if you don’t want to leave the hotel. Overall this is not a bad resort they just have some things to work on to stay competitive with The Pearl and PinkCoCo.

I stayed here for one night. My room was upgraded... Thanks a lot. The place offers a variety of food from bfast to lunch to dinner. The food is good especially the dinner. The place is great since it has a pool in front with a bar. I tried their spa, highly recommended too. The front desk staff seems to be unfriendly, or maybe due to so many guests during my checkout. Would definitely come back to this place in the future. 😎😎😎

Beautiful Hotel right next to the beach. Has great amenities and two gorgeous pools. It also has a floating bar with well priced drinks. The breakfast bar was cool, but after three days we got a little sick of the same food. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bike hire was cheap, at 5,000 for 24 hours. The area felt secure and I would definitely recommend coming here again!

Villa Ombak is an older property, consisting of mostly up-and-down duplexes, spread out over a very large area. There are two pools, a large one near reception and the main street and a smaller one further into the property, near to where our room was. This pool had some rather scruffy-looking lounges, only a couple of which had umbrellas, and no towels; you had to go the main pool to fetch these. The room was simple but clean and adequate to our needs. The bathroom, for some reason was extremely large and consisted mainly of unused space. The breakfast was adequate. Staff were friendly and thoughtful.

Lovely location and staff. This resort is the largest on the island and spread out. It features two beautiful large pools and villas dotted around gardens. It could be the most beautiful resort but unfortunately this resort needs a lot of maintenance to bring it up to standard. Lots of structures around the grounds are broken and gardens and paths near our room need alot of work. It’s a shame as it could be amazing and I hope it is given a little facelift soon. Our room was a little dated too but large and had everything we needed . Breakfast was average but included in the rate . We loved karaoke on the beach and dancing with the lovely staff !

If you are in Gilli Trawangan. Then I would personally suggest you to stay in this Villa Ombak !!😁 Such a beautiful & the best property I found in Gilli T. There also have various types of romantic candle light dinner's which no other hotel/villa has in Gilli Trawangan. A must must stay ! I opted to stay in there Lumbung Hut. It's more beautiful when compared to any of there rooms ! 😍

Nice location for this front hotel , very friendly and helpful staff ! Deluxe room very quite , linen and towels good quality , but not appreciate the shower in the wall , the water didn't run in the proper way and it was uncomfortable ! The bathroom need to be renovated.

My friend and I stayed here after a shockingly bad night at the Scallywags resort. Upon arrival the manager was very kind and accommodating, this turned into one of my best guest experiences to date, in terms of genuine service and kindness from staff. The room and facilities were beautiful. 5 stars ⭐️ Ps my only note is that some water cooler stations around the place to refill bottles would be ideal to reduce plastic waste

We spent our last evening on Gili Trewangan at this gorgeous beach front location. The staff were so caring and kind and helped make our evening a memorable one. From delicious and various buffet food options to some pretty awesome karaoke. We will definitely be back.

I am glad to see this hotel survived the pandemic and still serving visitors. This hotel is one of the unique ones I have ever been to. Lombok has gotten more and more popular recently after Bali gets expensive and crowded. It has turned another quite escape from Bali. We arranged this family trip to explore Lombok and its vicinity and we liked it. It is not as crowded as Bali and not as busy as well. The high way by the sea is awesome, almost everywhere is an IG spot. You see many people on bikes to explore this island while not many cars on the street to be safer than Bali for sure. Regarding hotels, it does not have as many options as that in Bali, but you still can manage to get decent and unique ones like this one we have had. This hotel was full of either Australians or Europeans that we did not see any Asian visitors. We were the only one. I got recommended by my friend from Lombok and we were glad to listen to his advise. The room is great, the food is spicy, the service is excellent and the environment allows you to see, smell and hear the ocean. Wonderful! But do know this, Lombok is not like Bali. This is like Java where Muslims are the majority and they don't eat pork and have fasting month to follow. Just FYI.
