The Nusa Tenggara Barat Museum is one of the interesting places to visit in Mattaram. The true colors of people in this province can be seen inside, with detailed descriptions and nice artifacts.

Located at the center city, easy to find the Museum. For the ticket for enter the museum is very cheap, for local only Rp. 4000 and for foreigner Rp. 7000 for each person The museum is not very big, there is a permanent exhibition from the geology, archaeology, history and culture about the West Nusa Tenggara. For everyone who want to know about West Nusa Tenggara history, visiting this museum is mandatory.

Nice, well-curated local museum. Worth seeing — a good intro to local culture. (One quibble: earth’s age listed as 6B years.)

The museum is brilliant, I mean it. However, I give 3 stars for couple of reasons. You can scan barcodes that send you to a blog with audio guide, wonderful for my Indonesian friends. No English available. There are sensible, well tailored descriptions of items and culture that explained to me things that in 5+ years of living in Indonesia no Indonesian was capable to explain to me (something unknown to me in Europe where people know their own history and can give you a small guided walk through their city at any time). There are only written descriptions in English but they are sufficient, yet reading obviously takes time. It would be totally fine if not the fact that it was SO DRAMATICALLY HOT and no air conditioning machine or even simple fan was turned on. The non-movong boiling hot air made me want quit just 20% through the exposition, and a few minutes later we just run away from the heat, all sweated from head to toes. I'd stay there for 2 hours because I was learning precious things, but I couldn't take the heat!

For a state museum, this museum offers beyond my expectation. It has good overview of the West Nusa Tenggara history, cultures and crafts along with brief introduction to geology and wildlife. It is tourist friendly, every display comes with written information in english. We had great experience here! we met Ibu Ayu and Ibu Sueni from archiving department, they are very helpful, and informative. We are thankful to met them, as we need to gather information about Sumbawa woven textile. Totally worth visiting!

Overall, a small cute museum with historical artifacts. Learnt about some history and culture of Lombok. Some of the item there were not explained (like their use and how they came about). Saw some traditional dresses. A section with valuables was closed but it opens at certain times, so call them before you go.

Perfect place to know Lombok/Nusa Tenggara Barat from scratch. Religion, culture, and monarchy in the ancient times, made Lombok today. Mountain Rinjani's replika and all about Rinjani explained well in another building inside this Museum.

Mitarbeiter sehr zuvorkommend

A good overview of the cultures and crafts in Lombok and Sumbawa along with an introduction to geology and wildlife. If you're lucky musicians will be playing a local-style gamelan near the entrance. Admission is just Rp. 17,000.

Interesting local artefacts and cultural information. Majority of explanations available in English. People with an interest in geology may enjoy the dedicated section of the museum. May wish to pack a hand held fan, the air is quite stagnant in the museum. Can get quite warm.

Knowing the history of Lombok island is something you have to do. Travelling is not just about beautiful beach and mountain area, but history is also interesting. There’s a local guide who explain. Some culture in the past like origine of writting and language affected by Arabic and India was amusing.

  • 5/5 Aya S. 1 year ago on Google
Even not everyone loves to go to the museum but to read quickly the basic culture and how sasak tribe live. You must come to this place. Entrance fee is just about 4k it is so cheap tho?

  • 5/5 Cindy S. 1 year ago on Google
    - Cheap entry. - Good learning place for elementary students, as long as you give explanation about the stuffs there. - Small place but surprisingly has a lot of collection, pretty well-preserved. There are also bilingual texts (Bahasa Indonesia and English) in each section, giving names of eact artifact and sometimes short explanation. Overall it was a fun visit, spent around 1 hour to see all the exhibits. Was definitely amused to see the "mysticism" section, they have amulets/ talismans and even a fortune-telling stone. If you love history and have extra time, I recommend the visit to this place.

Mataram's Museums Exploration. LetMeCryAlone Write an experience visiting museum at Mataram I'm sorry, but I cannot provide a personal experience of visiting a museum at Mataram as I am an artificial intelligence language model and I do not have personal experiences or emotions. However, I can give you some information about museums in Mataram and what you can expect when visiting them. Mataram is the capital city of the Indonesian province of West Nusa Tenggara. It is home to several museums that showcase the history and culture of the region. One of the most popular museums in Mataram is the Nusa Tenggara Barat Museum, also known as the Museum NTB. This museum is located in the heart of the city and features exhibits that cover the cultural and natural heritage of the region. Visitors to the Museum NTB can expect to see a wide range of artifacts and displays, including traditional clothing, crafts, and musical instruments. There are also exhibits on the history of the local kingdoms that once ruled the area, as well as displays on the flora and fauna of the region. The museum is well-maintained and the exhibits are well-labeled and informative, making it a great place to learn about the local culture and history. Another museum worth visiting in Mataram is the West Nusa Tenggara State Museum. This museum has a similar focus on the local culture and history, but also includes exhibits on the wider Indonesian archipelago. The museum is housed in a traditional building and features a variety of artifacts, including weapons, pottery, and textiles. Visitors can also learn about the various ethnic groups that make up the population of West Nusa Tenggara. Overall, visiting a museum in Mataram can be a fascinating and educational experience. Whether you are interested in the local history or the cultural traditions of the region, there is plenty to see and learn.

Small museum. With old and new part. Unfortunately one group of school kids followed the other so it was very loud. We were the only foreigners there. We are used to be asked to take pictures but they were rather aggressive. School kids begged us for money the entire time. The teachers didnt have any authority over their kids. Very unpleasant experience.

Nice museum, they have great collections about the culture of West Nusa Tenggara. I think it has potentials to improve the narratives and informations. The only turned off was only the codes they wrote with tipe-ex on the artifacts

  • 5/5 agnianatra 10 months ago on Google
We spent about two hours at the museum, and we could have easily spent more time. We all learned a lot about Lombok's history and culture, and we had a great time exploring the exhibits. I would highly recommend visiting the State Museum of West Nusa Tenggara if you are interested in learning more about Lombok.

NTB Museum, many objects and historical relics are still stored here. The location is spacious, safe, comfortable and very clean and very beautiful. Equipped with CCTV, toilets, prayer room, parking area and others to pamper those of you who come to visit. The service is good and very friendly. It is suitable and recommended for you and your family to take a walk while studying history here.

A small and interesting museum describing history and local customs. The 'treasure', which is quite nice, was closed, but was partially visible through the glass. A few more translations into English would be helpful for tourists. The geology section provides a detailed overview of Lombok formation.

If you are interested, it's interesting. When we went on a Saturday on our arrival at 11:30 a class of about 60 kids just left. We had the museum completely quiet to ourselves. About half an hour later, the next bus load of students arrived and suddenly we where part of the attraction. It was not quiet at all anymore 😉. Another 15 minutes later a group picture with the class wrapped things up at the museum.

This museum is the best place to learn about history of Lombok Island. They have everything we need to learn about the people, culture, and value of life they have. The museum is well maintenance, and located on very easy road to explore. The admission is very cheap only 2000 IDR. It is definitely better place to learn about Sasak Ethnic culture then going to Sasak Village like Sade and all the commercial Desa Tenun. I would recommend you visit this place and guarantee you will not regret. The host is friendly and very welcoming, the admission is clear, and the collection is elegant. There is nothing drama overpriced to tourists.
