The market was a fun experience. I recommend walking the entire market before choosing who to buy from because a lot of the vendors offer the same things for slightly different prices. But you can choose your own adventure. You can grab a snack or eat a whole meal. There aren't many seats in the market itself, but there is a small plaza behind it with some benches where you can take your goodies.

Love this market, it's super busy as you'd expect, with not too much space to eat what you buy, but the quality is great in general everywhere here. You'll get food from everywhere and usually there's a fish market in the centre too (it wasn't open on the Monday when we went, but that just left us a little more space). You can buy dishes to eat there, or items to take home. Slightly more expensive of course, and very touristy, but a very large, high market area - excellent to wander around in, grab some delicacies and a beer or 2.

Huge tourist trap, but worth a look. Lots of the same things at various stalls. So much juice, so much cured meat. It all looks cool, but after a while, it starts to seem really repetitive. This isn't really a market for buying local produce, although you can and people do. If you're looking for where locals go, this isn't it. Everything is quite expensive so don't expect cheap eats. However, you can get some excellent seafood from some of the spots inside. Sad to see the xuxo place gone. Absolutely packed with tourists on their phones, but it seems that at least you can move around for the most part. I recommend the egg stall. There are emu eggs!

This had to be the coolest Mercado I’ve ever been. Very lively and colorful. They had mangoes that looked luxurious and juicy. I didn’t care to buy any as I don’t have a kitchen in my hotel room but they should really offer cut to order cause the produce looks amazing here. I recommend coming here.

Wonderful old market in the centre of Barcelona’s historic city. Well worth a look around and a shop but be careful for pick pockets who pray on the unsuspecting in the busy bustling alleys as people shop. Some great small tapas stalls and wine stalls where you can try the fabulous local seafood and Iberian hams with a glass of wine. Great atmosphere and an incredible array of produce. A great place for photographers with all the colors and textures and fantastic for foodies.

Beautiful colorful market where you can take in so many flavors. Lots to see with tons of people enjoying themselves. Went and had a great time with the girls and we left satisfied. Plenty to take with you when you head out. Great fruit and vegetables and tons of meats. Thank you for a great experience and see you again soon. It is definitely worth the trip

A must of you are in Barcelona!! Wonderful variety of local produce, from ham to cheese to olives to bars with sea food there is nothing that you crave that you won't find here! You will also find all the different fruits and chocolate and spices all around! I ate good here! Most vendors offer small portions which is great as it allows you to experience many different dishes! Fresh oysters are a must and also the paella!

We went on a Monday afternoon. Many stores were closed but serval were open. This is a great place for spices, oils, meat and fruit. There is an amazing chocolate place towards the middle with a huge selection. Highly recommend for foodie gifts or to grab bit. Keep in mind that it was completely low key because of the day and time we went.

Yes, I know this is a tourist trap, but I loved it! It is the largest outdoor market I’ve ever been to. So much stimuli and beautiful food. From the meat stands to the fruit stands, to the fish stands, to spice stands, to candy stands and bars for meals, it’s amazing to see. Definitely worth a trip!

An amazing market full of vendors selling a variety of fruits, vegetables, drinks, meats, and cheeses. A great place to walk around, have lunch, and chat with locals. The food stands are great. While you are there, you have to try the different specialty Jamon (ham) that is sliced and prepared fresh. It is paired with cheese as a walk-around snack and is such a nice treat. Visit. Stay a while. Graze a while. You will enjoy it!

Absolutely amazing. So many cool food stalls. I agree with other reviews that you should walk around before selecting any snacks. Watch out for pickpockets. We saw a women near us get into a fight with a man who she believed stole her wallet and passport.

One of the best market places you will ever experience. Over 13,000m2 in size there's no shortage of options when it comes to jamon, cheese, fresh seafood, fruit and veg. Stall operators are mostly friendly and passionate about their produce.

A very lively place. There are many delicacies and specialties: Fish, meat, vegetables, fruit, sweets, etc.. On site you can also eat wonderfully. It is a bit more expensive, but the quality is right. With a few tapas and a glass of sangria you can experience the atmosphere of this market very well.

This place is an enjoyable spot to explore, offering a wide variety of fresh products and multiple cuisines. However, if you have dietary restrictions (Halal in my case), the choices are somewhat limited 🙁 I, for instance, dislike fish, and the majority of offerings were centered around fresh fish and cooked dishes 🍤 On a positive note, I did try a Dragon fruit and coconut juice, which was decent 🥤 As a tourist, it's certainly worth a visit, but don't feel too disappointed if you skip it, and don't invest too much time here.

Markets are at the heart of the Barcelona culture. This is an incredible market for the local community that isn’t just for tourists. It offers a great mix of fresh fruits, vegetables, an enormous selection of seafood, meat and eggs. It even has some delicious spots where you can grab tapas while you shop. And I definitely recommend doing that before you shop the entire market home! ?

Definitely the coolest market I’ve been to! So many options for everyone, fresh seafood, all kinds of meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and spices, desserts etc etc. Very busy, it was fun strolling around there! Tried fresh oysters and sea urchin, loved them both ? I would totally recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona to go take a look at this market

This food market is a daily stop for me and a very photogenic place. At least get a smoothie and something to eat and hang out in the sun on La Rambla, a nearby shopping street that’s also interesting and a good walk to the harbor.

Can I give six stars for this market? I’ve been here a couple of times over the years and it never fails to impress. The range and quality of the produce is off the charts PLUS the vendors are super friendly especially to tourists. Now they even accept credit cards!

Eye candy, really great place for your soul to jump for joy. There’s so much food and color all over that you have plenty of choices. I saw this place transform over the years from mainly having jamon to now getting more and more healthy options like smoothies, salads and nut bars. Go and see it for yourself, if you don’t buy anything just enjoy the ride!

Very cool market I can really recommend going there either just to look at or get something really tasty and fresh. The products there look Soo good and are the best you can get in Barcelona. It's candy, chocolate, and every sweet you can imagine. Then really good vegetables even really exotic ones and fresh self made smoothies on ice. And if that wasn't enough there is of course... Yes fish😁. A big variety and even already cooked one to eat there freshly prepared. I really liked it. 😃

It is one of the most popular markets in Barcelona. So many stands, all colorfully decorated and the products are beautifully presented. Great atmosphere, we enjoyed very much walking about in the market, tasted some fresh juice. We didn't eat a big meal here since we were quite full, but did see many customers eating and drinking besides the stands. Definitely recommend!

Oh my god!! This was the funnest place I went to in Barcelona. Take cash and the biggest appetite you can muster up! If you like to eat every kind of food as fresh as it gets; this is the place you’re looking for. You can eat fresh caught, fresh picked, fresh cut, fresh squeezed and freshly cooked EVERYTHING! The beauty of it all is off the hook. You can get seafood so fresh it’s still kicking, and flowers so beautiful and fresh they almost cover up the smell of the fish. I love cooking meat and I have never in my entire life seen a more beautiful selection of every cut of meat from every animal on the planet. You can buy every kind of spice on earth, and fresh eggs from birds you have never seen. If you’re into the exotic inner parts of anything; you’ll be in heaven, and anything that has to do with chocolate or dessert is at your beck and call; and someone will cook it for you at a small fee. If you can eat it; they have it here to purchase.

Awesome!!! Amazing Marketplace. There is so much to see and it is a food paradise that you cannot fall in love with. 5-year-old, super-wet Iberico disappears in your mouth in an instant. There are so many people and it’s hectic, but try to find hidden restaurants. It was a truly dynamic and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend making time to visit it while visiting the landmark. This is a strong recommendation.

I have seen quite a lot of markets, which are usually very colorful and allow you to buy some fresh fruits, berries or freshly squeezed juice. However this market is unbelievable with its unique atmosphere of food and colors. There are few open bars with fresh seafood and fish dishes prepared on the spot. With ice cold beer or wine this could be excellent place to stop and eat lunch. For the deserts you can pick fruit or ice cream. With all the colors, variety and smiles after lunch you will have beautiful pictures to share.

An amazing and huge market for fresh food! If you visit Barcelona you should go there with an empty stomach so you can try as much food as you can. For me it was a wonderful experience. A great variety of fresh and colorful fruits, good selection of seafood, very refreshing drinks, tasty tapas, different kinds of sweets that you can’t get enough of any of them, and much more.

My favourite place in Barcelona. This market is in my opinion the real soul of the city. The huge advantage is that the market is open all year and you may find a seasonal fruit and vegetables, local fish and meat typical for Catalonian region. I love walking around the market, smelling the food and then tasting it right away when enjoying the all surrounding buzz. The only downside is that you really have to take a good care of your personal belongings.

Located on the famous La Rambla street, This is the most popular and must-see market in Barcelona. It's basically a gathering of shopkeeper selling fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, pickles, candies, smoothies, juices and what not. It's a delight to see so many colours in one place. Visit early in the morning before 10:30 to ensure there aren't many tourists. One doesn't need to be shy to take multiple pictures of shops - the shopkeepers are accustomed to this even if you don't end up buying anything. For a foodie, it would be hard to resist tasting a few delicacies here.

More than just a tourist attraction. One of the better places in Barcelona to get the meat for your BBQ or that special oil for a salad.

Great place to taste local cuisine. Take some time to walk around. The prices vary depending on how attractively located the given stand is (1-2,50€ for a glass of fruits). Keep it mind that it can be pretty crowded: keep a watchful eye on your belongings; you may wait a while for your dish.

  • 5/5 Vikas M. 4 years ago on Google
Loved the ambience and friendly outlets selling all kinds of food, fresh vegetables, fruits, meats etc. One can easily spend a couple of hours checking out the range of outlets and their offerings... and enjoy some great food cooked right in front of you... If you are in Barcelona even for a day, this must be a stop in your itinerary.

La Boqueria is a dream come true, heavenly place for all foodies. The amount of stands and the variety of foods is amazing. They also accept cards, so I never had to have any cash on me. I went there for the first time just to check it off my list of Barcelona attractions, and I instantly decided I'm gonna be back there for every breakfast and possibly lunch/dinner, if I'm in the area at that time. It honestly made me wish I had three stomachs, so I could try everything, but alas, very warm weather lessened my appetite and I couldn't eat much. Better luck next time.

Beautiful market with soo many to offer from fresh raw materials like meat and fish and beef and chicken, spices from all kinds as well as herbs and mushrooms and additives and they also offer ready made food if you want to sit down and eat and have a good time in the market. Be careful that Sunday and Monday you will not find fresh seafood and if you got some on Monday that means it is from Saturday. They have payment by cards available as well as apple pay and cash to meet all the client requirements. Loved it !

It's a famous market! This market is big and it was busy when we were there(Saturday) they have all the food you need there. Fruits, meats, fish, drinks and everything! The fruit here looked super fresh but we think it's a bit overpriced but well if you buy one it wouldn't hurt that much😂 It was a but hard to walk in the market tho because it was super busy and everyone wanted to check all the shop so you can't walk that fast in there. I recommend everyone should visit this market once. It's a cool one for me.

Price is reasonable. Various of food choices. Seafood is really fresh. I had an Uni, but didn't try oyster. Also, I didn't try the drinks, but seemed good. Fresh juice costs approximately 2 euro per glass. Cold cut is ready to serve. And can find the pork and cow offal (if you want).

Incredible market, very well organised and it offers a wide selection of things to buy. There are also some snacks you can buy for 2-6€ in order to try out products before you splash the cash. The market might be open until the evening, but if you want the full experience you should go before 13-14 o’clock because by 16 the fish shops are already closed even on weekdays.

All available fresh and in an outdoor market experience. I tried so many different things I can't name em all. The service from all the shop owners was friendly and prompt. They are Helpful if you are unsure of what your getting. The location is open air so gives you the feeling of a farmers market. Everyone I went to accepted credit cards so it was very convenient. There are plenty of small restaurants all around the market to sit and enjoy a cold sangria at so make sure you choose one. Overall great place to make part of your trip while in Barcelona.

Wow. We were taken here as a surprise and it was epic. There is so much produce here, all of it looking beautiful, smelling delightful and readily available to eat in as a strolling tapas or take back to where you live/stay and enjoy later. If you are remotely interested in food and fresh produce, you will find inspiration and enchantment here. I could have spent a day walking the aisles and looking at everything. Everyone there is happy and helpful too. In Barcelona and on an open market day or night and enjoy food ? .. this place needs to be on your list.

Come here for variety of food. Recommended to come in the morning when everything is fresh. When we tried the battered seafood at night, they were soggy even after heating up. Some shop prices are tourist traps. Recommend to visit Kiosk Universal - even though prices are high, the freshness and quality of food and fast service justifies the price

Cool place where You can find everything to eat. Large variety of food and drinks. Few stands with awful service but there were also kind ones. Higher prices than on regular markets. Anyway, worth seeing and buying some Spanish dishes.

An eye opening market. So many stores and their products so big, colourful and fresh. Of course, the price is catered for tourists if u compared to the supermarkets… nonetheless, this is also a must visit place to look for local snacks all at one place..

Amazing place which I have to visit every time I am in Barcelona. Amazing selection and variety of food. Fresh meet and seafood, tapas bars. Big selection of fruits and vegetables. Only thing what is missing are tables or counters where you can enjoy the food which you buy, either you have to look for the place which has bar counters, and they are not really easy to get, or you just stand where ever or walk and eat.
