The Barcelona cooking experience was the perfect balance between cultural and foodie experience in Barcelona. The class included a visit to the Boqueria to select the ingredients for the class. Juan, our chef, ran the show ! He is amazing and very genuine. We had a group of 12 people and we felt like a cooking class family. Highly recommended! Thanks Juan!

Didn’t expect that would be so much fun in the cooking class! We were traveling to Barcelona and looking for a good restaurant to try paella, the hotel relation manager Hugo recommended this place so we joined last minute, and it turned out great! You learned not only one dish but with couple starters, soup and a dessert, having dinner and eating them there with WINE they provided. If I’m going back to Barcelona, I will join their tapas class for sure.

I think our cooking class was a highlight of our whole trip! Our chef instructor, Juan, was so funny, very knowledgeable, and easy to follow. He was patient with the lesser experienced chefs (like myself 😂) and took us through each course step by step. The recipes were delicious!! We've already tried the strawberry gazpacho ourselves at home and really appreciated that the recipes were shared with us. The market tour at the start of the class was also really fun and informative. We wished we had taken the class at the start of our trip so we could have gone to La Boqueria knowing all of Juan's tips, tricks, and spots. A great experience, we're so glad we found Barcelona Cooking!

We had such a good time taking our class. Juan was knowledgeable and so friendly we almost didn’t want to leave! The food was delicious and the instruction was straightforward—we’ve been making pan con tomate every day since we got home. Knowing how to make your favorite dishes is the ultimate souvenir.

Excellent experience, we were hosted by Renata who gave us an informative tour of the Bouqueria before teaching us to prepare and cook 5 Tapas dishes. Renata was the perfect host and we loved cooking and tasting our dishes and also enjoyed a few glasses of wine too. We would highly recommend Barcelona Cooking

We had an amazing experience with Chef Juan during our cooking class on Saturday! He was so knowledgeable about La Boqueria as he showed us around, pointing out the best places to eat, drink, and buy food from. He did an excellent job teaching us to cook Spanish dishes, and made the entire group laugh throughout the whole experience. He made us feel like we were part of his family, even calling us familia throughout the class. To top it off, the food we prepared was delicious and we can't wait to try cooking the dishes again at home! Gracias Chef Juan for the unforgettable cooking class and experience. Our highlight of Barcelona!

What a wonderful experience -- we truly enjoyed our cooking class with Juan! The class started out with a tour of the Boqueria Market which was a great introduction to the day. Juan was a knowledgeable chef who taught us how to make several delicious dishes (gazpacho, pan con tomate, spanish tortilla, paella, and a traditional dessert!). We are excited to bring what we learned back home and share with our family and friends. Thank you for an incredible time!

Excellent family experience! Our family of four spent an evening with Juan from Barcelona Cooking while visiting Barcelona this week. We did the market tour and Paella class and we’re so glad we did! Juan was a delight with our 6 and 10 year old girls while also balancing the instructing (and entertaining) of the adult guests! He has a wonderful soul and you can tell he treasures his time in the kitchen with guests. The food is plentiful and very tasty and yummy wines are served as well! And they accommodated my husband’s shellfish allergy with a chicken and mushroom paella. Everyone plays a part in preparing the meal (the girls were the pastry chefs and made Crema Catalan) and then it is eaten together as a group with lively conversation! I cannot recommend this experience enough. Whether you’re a single, group, couple or family this is a fun and engaging way to experience Spain! Make sure to book a class with Juan - he will feel like family by the end!

A great experience. Stefan was very organised, we all learnt new things about cooking and food was delicious. There was plenty of wine to go with meal and the attention to hygiene was very professional. Would definitely recommend this course.

Simply one of the best cooking classes I have taken! Perfect for all levels of skill and super enjoyable. You learn about Spainish food and what makes it so great. You also get to learn the essentials skills to preparing these classic dishes. The chef is so friendly, funny, and entertaining that you really enjoy every element of this culinary experience! Highly recommend for anyone as it was one of the highlights of our trip.

Chef Juan is actually the best. This cooking class was the highlight of our Spain tour and Chef Juan made it so much fun! He is kind, funny, and knowledgeable about the food and cooking process. I can’t say enough amazing things about him and the incredible food we made! 12/10 would recommend.

This was a great experience! Our chef Juan was the best! We started out in the market picking out the food for our meal and then we went back to listen to music, drink wine, and cook our delicious food. It was a great experience! Also, the class size was super small so while it wasn't a private experience it was very intimate.

I had such a great time during this cooking class (the tapas edition) ! We called only a few hours ahead and were able to have a vegetarian meal... which was great. We learned cooking techniques, time management skills, and delicious recipes. Plus everything was simple enough to replicate at home. The unlimited wine is also a plus. I would definitely try another course next time I'm in Barcelona.

This was our favorite part of our trip to Barcelona! The market visit was actually very informative and helpful. It was great to go around looking at all the different stalls and seeing what they sell. Juan led our class and he was amazing! He made everything so fun for us and truly made us all feel like a family. We loved learning all the different recipes and getting the opportunity to all contribute to the dishes. The food was delicious! Juan was informative and made the whole class worthwhile. He was also so funny and a delight to be around. I highly recommend signing up if you are visiting Barcelona!

A great place for all ages. An extremely experienced chef gives everyone lots of tips to help cook traditional dishes. The remarkable thing is that after we all prepare the dishes together, at the end we sit together at the table and eat like one big family.

This was a great cooking class. Renata was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the class was very conveniently located in the centre of Barcelona. We used very fresh ingredients and the results were so tasty. I will be making the recipes again at home. Thanks for the great experience and a chance to get involved in some authentic Spanish culture.

Really enjoyed the Tapas cooking class with Chef Lalo. He provided good advice and tips on how to achieve the best flavor in the dish. We did the cooking under his guidance. It was a fun and informative time starting with the trip to the market to select ingredients. Lalo also shared some history of the area. Returning to take his paella class tomorrow. 5 ⭐️ Barcelona Cooking!

This was by far the best experience I had when visiting Barcelona. I met some fun people and made delicious food. Going to the market was amazing on its own. Our instructor, Renata, was very friendly, energetic, and very knowledgeable about food and Spanish culture. I would go again next time I am in town.

I decided the best souvenir I could take home from Barcelona was a knowledge of Catalonian cooking. I took a class with Chef Cándido at Barcelona Cooking and I was not disappointed! Not only did our chef take us to the massive market on Las Ramblas to pick up ingredients, but he gave us a tour and explained the history of the market and tips on local foods and the shopping experience. The class itself was so fun and Chef Cándido was easy-going and very knowledgeable. He was fun to work with and our food was absolutely delicious. I have a shellfish allergy and accommodations were made so that I didn't miss out on a thing except the inevitable hives that would have come if Chef hadn't made substitutions for me. I left with a full belly, fantastic recipes, and a greater understanding of Catalonian flavor profiles. Totally worth every euro!

One of the key highlights of our visit to Barcelona. The tour of the market is amazing and informative; a wonderful overview to some of Barcelona's history. Our class was our party of three and another couple. We made and enjoyed a delicious meal learning some great tricks from Chef Candido. Our only regret was that we could not go back and take the evening tapas course over the remaining course of our visit because the class was full. Enjoy this singular experience!

A perfect way to spend a day in Barcelona, visiting the market la boqueria to select great produce, back to the kitchen to prepare a mouth watering banquet, guided by our wonderful chef Candido and assisted by glasses of wine. This is without a doubt the best cooking class we have attended, and if you are in Barcelona put it on your list of things to do. Ian and Mariana (Australia)

We traveled through 6 countries in Europe on our trip and this was by far the most fun and enjoyable activity that we did. I would highly recommend. Chef Ros was so kind and helpful, not to mention an amazing chef. I would also highly recommend the market tour that they offer on the weekends. We were able to see the market, same olives, buy chocolates, and eat oysters. We worked at stations in the kitchen and she taught us how to do everything. It was truly a great time! Plus free wine :)

One of the highlights of our trip in Barcelona! We took the Paella and Boqueria tour with Juan, which was amazing! We really enjoyed exploring the market where Juan shared some interesting details. Everyone got to participate in the cooking process which was very fun. The food was excellent and even tastier knowing we prepared it together.

I have a tradition of doing a cooking class in all countries I go to. This is without doubt the best one I have attended. What an amazing experience. Starting with the guided tour of the markets. A wonderful explanation of what we were seeing, tasting and what we would be using in our cooking class. Our chef Renata was incredibly great fun, and knowledgeable in all aspects of the markets and the cooking process. We had only a small class of 4 which was perfect and we all got along great and worked together very well to produce the menu. The food was so good. The gazpacho was exceptional in flavour, the tomato bread was so good. The tortilla was bang on and the seafood paella was right on point and delicious. The crème Catalan was made beautifully and was silky smooth. All in all I would definitely highly recommend Barcelona cooking if you have a desire to experience fantastic Spanish cuisine that you can cook and take home with you to cook for your family and friends. Overall experience 10/10.

We had a great time! Renata made us all feel like home. She fostered a welcoming and inclusive vibe! The food we cooked was delicious and with the space set up, and Renata, it was one of our best times in Barcelona! Thank you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

What a great time. The market is incredible and it was a ton of fun to learn some things about the foods in the market. The menu was delicious. We had strawberry gazpacho instead of traditional and it was great. I’ll definitely make it. Good to learn a little about cooking with different kinds of olive oil. Loved the whole menu! The chef was so much fun!!!!!

Starting with a shopping tour of Barcelonas oldest fresh market, the experience was both educational and entertaining. I could have spent HOURS (and a significant sum) in the market. There are some touristy candies at the entrance but there are farm sourced offerings as well as seafood (live) and butcher offerings, fresh vegetables, and peppers/spices. Then came the kitchen introduction, fresh ingredients portioned with knife usage suggestions, safety, and local references. We prepared four courses of our own meal while being reminded, guided, and regaled. The recipes, complimentary pairings, along with seasoning and time management suggestions were invaluable. It would be very difficult for any other chef to be more considerate, receptive, inciteful, or entertaining than Juan was. Truly a relaxed, entertaining, and educational experience! It was worth every penny and moment!

Chef Renata was the best! This was our favorite part of our Barcelona trip! Chef Renata was amazing and catered to our kids, the food was delicious, and everything was planned down to the detail. It didn’t feel rushed and we enjoyed ourselves and the guests that joined our group. The music also gave a great, relaxed vibe. Highly recommended!!

A definite must if you're visiting Barcelona! The local market tour was really informative & totally loved cooking & eating together in a small group - amazing to learn about Spanish cuisine & flavours with a fabulous chef in a relaxed environment! A great experience - highly recommend!

My girlfriend and thought it was a lot of fun to take a cooking class with Barcelona Cooking. We took the evening class, and the chef was great, teaching us, giving tips and tricks throughout. He also quickly adapted to three people of a different group wanting a vegetable paella instead of a meat paella. Top recommendation from two Danes in Barcelona!!

Fun experience and we enjoyed the whole evening with this nice group

  • 5/5 D. K. 7 years ago on Google
I’m so glad that this activity was the first one on my schedule while in Barcelona. Aside from leaving me with great recipes and a greater appreciation for Spanish cooking (while meeting other travelers and enjoying good wine in an intimate setting), this experience set a high bar for the touristy restaurants. After working with a small group to make (and eat) delicious gazpacho, tomato bread, paella, potato omelette, and catalan crème in a beautiful kitchen space overlooking the ramblas (guided by our attentive chef Stefano), I was very selective about where I dined and what I ordered during the rest of my two-week journey through Spain. I knew that many restaurants would not top the taste and quality of the meal that I’d prepared that evening. This is definitely a unique experience, worth the money, and you’ll come away with tips that will help you no matter what you’re cooking.

We had a wonderful time on 9/17/18. Our chef, Rose, was a great teacher. She had a great command of the English language and a good sense of humor as well. All of us got to make different parts of each recipe and it all tasted delicious when we sat down to eat our meal. This was a great addition to our Barcelona portion of our trip to Spain and I enthusiastically recommend Barcelona Cooking!

  • 5/5 Normarys P. 5 years ago on Google
This experience was awesome! It’s much more than a paella cooking class. You can learn about other traditional Spanish dishes, learn about their culture from a true local Spaniard all while enjoying good food and company. I highly recommend this class as it was one of the highlights of our trip!!!

On October 4, 2016, we hosted a corporate customer event at Barcelona Cooking that was truly exceptional. Since Barcelona is known as a Top Gastronomical Destination City, we just grooved on this as an activity to provide "therapeutic de-stressing" to our Business customers attending a pharmaceutical exhibition. Everyone enjoyed the professional and passionate cooking instructions and encouragements such as "Treat the Food with more Love." We had an international cast of customers who gave Excellent Positive Feedback to the cooking School and the overall culinary experience. Thank You.

A really great experience, and a nice way of learning about a city and culture. Chef Lalo was a wealth of knowledge and created a nice atmosphere for our small (three person) class. The walk-through of La Boqueria was a great introduction, as I would've been lost going in by myself. I went back after the class and felt more knowledgeable about the things I was buying. This was my first cooking class ever, and everything was laid out for us. Super easy instructions, and the food was DELICIOUS. Probably the best food I had during my entire time in Barcelona!

I've done a few cooking experiences in Barcelona and so far this has been my least favorite. In terms of participating in the cooking, I didn't feel like it was very inclusive. Everyone in our group started out with something to do, but once the veggies were cut, it seems like everyone stood around while 2-4 people stirred something or or cracked eggs. Then the activity would change, but only a small number (again, less than 5) would be doing something while everyone else stood there. By the end, the food looked beautiful and several of the dishes were good, like the butternut squash soup or Spanish omelet, but the paella was a disappointment. The rice didn't feel cooked through and it just wasn't all that. Maybe I had high expectations but this just fell flat and I only had a few bites. The dessert was ok, but not enough to drive me to eat half of it. I would go somewhere else for a cooking experience next time, if given the choice.

(Translated by Google) Very good experience learning to cook local dishes in Barcelona. First we went to visit the Boqueria market where, in addition to buying the ingredients, they explained a lot of curiosities about Spanish gastronomy. Our chef Cándido showed us several dishes, including paella and crema catalana, accompanied by a good Galician wine. A super fun morning and learning new cooking tricks, come out wanting to cook and repeat experience. Totally recommended! What a fantastic time we had at the Barcelona Cooking School! We met Chef Candido at the school yesterday for a quick introduction and then walked over to the local market. He gave us guided tour explaining the local fish/meats (big difference in the iberico hams...who knew?) and produce. We’ve been to many markets all over the world but having Candid explain how foods became popular in the area, when to buy produce that is in season and hearing stories of how he grew up eating the foods we were seeing gave us a new prospective on what we were seeing. With a glass of champagne in hand, we cooked for 2 hours and then had a feast of butternut squash and pear purée, tomatoe bread, tortilla espanola, paella (fantastic!) and crema Catalan. Four hours of memories, a few new cooking skills and a life time of good eating! We highly recommend!!

If you love food then you'll love this experience! A great way to spend a few hours. The day starts with a walk through Boqueria market to pick up the fresh ingredients that you'll use for the cooking. You then go back to the kitchen to prepare and cook your four-course lunch. On the day we went, we made Tortilla Espanola with Pan con Tomate, Crema de Calabaza, Paella de Marisco and Crema Catalana. A perfect way to spend some quality time with the family!

Whenever I travel, I try to fit in a cooking class from that country. The traditional Spanish food we prepared in the Barcelona Cooking class was not only delicious, but I learned new preparation tips that will be useful for any type of recipe. And you get a copy of all the recipes you prepare to share with friends when you get home.

Informative cooking class that was easy to follow, excellent if you’re a beginner. Pros: - Market tour that was well explained with details on how to choose fresh ingredients - Small class sizes - Food was pretty good and they were accommodating to different food requirements Cons: - We felt like we were a little rushed and that the chef might’ve been in a bad mood. He seemed quite disinterested about being there which I can understand as he must do the same class repeatedly however it dampened the experience a little. Overall, I would still recommend if you would like an introduction to Spanish cuisine.

I loved the tour and food shopping at La Boqueria market and the Tapas class with Chef Lalo. A last minute plan that turned out much better than I imagined. I was only in Barcelona for a few days and sent an enquiry email late one evening - Emma in reception made it so easy for me to join in a class at the ten the next morning. The tour of the market was fun with not too much information overload but more than I would have been able to find out by myself. The school is very close to the market so not a lot of a time spent walking. The class was small (only 7 students) and the kitchen was well fitted. Chef Lalo was a great teacher and the food we cooked was delicious. Recipes were emailed to me to try at home. I would have loved to do another class but my time in Barcelona was too short. My next visit to this city will definitely include some more classes. Absolutely 5 stars!

Booked the Tapas cooking class for my wife and I while we were in Barcelona. Went here on a recommendation from our parents who had done the paella cooking class. We started with the added Boqueria tour/shopping trip as well. We had been to the Boqueria, but the chef explained what we were seeing and the various ingredients he was purchasing for our meal. Our class had 10 people in it which was a good size. Class started with wine pours, of course! It is broken up into 4 parts: prep, cook, plate, and eat. At each stage, you rotate around what food you are working on and the various skills. The chef was very knowledge and engaging with everyone in the class. For the tapas we had 4 dishes: stuffed squid, potatoes with spicy sauce and aioli, anchovy and mascarpone bruschetta, and muscles.

What an amazing experience! On our recent visit to Barcelona a group of 8 of my closest friends signed up for the Tapas and Market Tour class which was such a treat. From the time of booking the staff was attentive and helped answer any and all questions. When we arrived and met our Chef, Candito, I instantly knew we made the right choice. Candito lead us on a wonderful and informative tour of the market giving up tips on which vendors were local and where spending a little extra on ingredients would be well worth the investment. I could have spent four hours just wondering around the market! After the market tour we went back to the kitchen and prep station where we broke into groups to tackle each of the tapas on the menu. There was lots to do and everyone felt engaged and contributed to the end meal. We loved learning about the regional cooking styles and recipes that we could bring back to our kitchens at home. The end meal was delicious and pairing it with wine and conversations with friends was one of our favorite parts of our two week long trip. Admittedly, our group loves to cook and loves food but feel this would make an excellent addition to any trip. We were glad that we choose to do this activity at the beginning of our trip so we could go back to the market and cook with local ingredients and techniques for the remainder of our trip. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved our day with chef Lalo learning about Catalan cuisine. From our walk around the market and communal prep of ingredients and our shared duties cooking 4 dishes, it was a treat to meet and share the adventure with others. My only complaint would be that I wasn't given the option to pay in euros with my credit card, as it adds 5% of exchange fees to the bill which could have been avoided if I'd been asked.

  • 5/5 Wayfarer 6. 6 years ago on Google
The class began with a short walk over to the boqueria - the most incredible market, a collection of little stalls with vendors specializing in everything from mushrooms (so many different varieties you literally swoon) to produce, cheese, pastries, meat, fish, spices; anything you can imagine. Never knew that "new eggs" were the first eggs laid/produced by an individual chicken; virgin eggs I guess...Chef Candido led us as we wandered up and down aisles, meeting vendors and selecting our ingredients for the day's menu. The longer we spent in the Boqueria the more I lamented the fact that we have nothing like this; even the Farmer's Market in LA doesn't come close AND this is the way people shop every day! Back at Barcelona Cooking's modern kitchen in an old building right on the Ramblas, we popped the cork on some local wine and, with Chef's direction and assistance (given in excellent English), transformed our ingredients into an amazing meal. About 4 hours after the class began, finished with cooking, eating and drinking, we left with recipes from the dishes we'd made and headed out to explore Gaudi's architecture. Great day! Would love to go back and take another class.

Not Worth it. Lovely location, welcoming chef, but the food was bland and nothing we would want cook in the future. The purpose is to learn new recipes and techniques, the chef was Italian and never worked as a chef.

I recently attended a most wonderful cooking class at Barcelona Cooking. We started with a terrific and informative tour of the Bocqueria nearby, and then went into the lovely kitchen of the cooking school where 12 of us, inititially strangers, from many different countries, teamed up to prepare several different dishes. Everything was outstanding: the instruction, the recipes, the cooking utensils....and the result was a gorgeous gazpacho, a lovely paella and a crema catalana where we torched the sugar ourselves.. Very instructive, very delicious. I highly recommend this school.

If you are into cooking, this class is a must. I love how we started off in the farmers market to pick up the fresh ingredients for the meal. I met really interesting people and learned to cook super delicious meal.

Must do for a trip to Barcelona. The tour of La Boqueria market was just the beginning - the food cooked after was delicious and made with all fresh ingredients from the market. This was our highlight of our three night stay in Barca - highly recommend!!!

I organized a team building activity with Cooking Barcelona. It was an incredible experience from start to finish, and we all had a great time. The food we prepared was delicious (what can I say 🙂), the truth is that we couldn't be happier! And all thanks to Juan's expert guidance. His attention and kindness were exceptional, and his ability to communicate in both Spanish and English made us all feel included and comfortable. Thank Juan for the treatment he gave us, not only from me, but from all my colleagues, since without him, the experience would not have been as good. The activity exceeded all our expectations. Th activity was done in English for those reading this looking for a nice experience in English language.
