Clear example of a church with a spectacular baroque altar by Pau Costa. Place of peace and wonderful energy. A curious architectural complex considered a national monument. There is the possibility every May on Mother's Day to climb to the top of the bell tower with beautiful views over the town. That day the flag changes, which flies 365 days a year. The old one is burned on Saint Peter's Day and makes very beautiful fireworks. The only thing to improve are the visiting hours because on many occasions there are tourists who want to come in to see it and cannot pay a modest price that could be said to be symbolic for the maintenance of a church that hopes to have a restoration of the façade by the end of the year. wear and tear over time.

Its golden altarpiece from the 18th century is a small jewel of the Catalan Baroque.

Arenys de Mar is a very beautiful town, and has a parish church to match. Located in the center, next to the Riera, it is a building that stands out for its size and packaging on the outside, and for its spectacular Baroque Main Altarpiece on the inside. As a curiosity, next to the bell tower we can see a flag flying, the "Bandereta", a symbol of Arenys and its history. Every first Sunday in May this flag is renewed so it always looks like new.

We entered and they wanted to kick us out, during hours open to the public in the house of God. It seems that they are angry with the people because the City Council does not pay them for the reform. Regrettable attitude of the man who greeted us at the door, telling us not to touch anything and who did us the tremendous favor of letting us pass almost running. I couldn't see with peace of mind so I can't value the church itself.

The church is very beautiful inside and the bells ring great. Yesterday I recorded a video of the bells ringing.

Today, the 1st Sunday of May, the Sant Pons fair is held in the church square. If you find the Montse stall, you can buy very spicy sauce and dressings, I recommend the 'mustard salt' and the 'Quimva parir' vinegar you will love it. 🥵👍

The church of Santa María de Arenys de Mar stands out for having one of the few baroque altarpieces from the 18th century in the area near Barcelona. Placed on a beautiful marble and jasper plinth from Torstosa, it is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, patron saint of the temple. As a support it uses the Solomonic column and its panels recreate passages from the life of the Virgin. The state of conservation is unbeatable, it really is a must-see for those who like baroque art.

Separated in 1555 from Arenys de Munt, although it had the status of suffragania of this until 1779. The Temple was built from 1575 to 1628 and was extended in 1755; it has an important baroque altarpiece, made by Pau Costa in 1706. During the years 1958-1977 it belonged to the bishopric of Barcelona.
