Plaça de Santa Jaume is a square located in the heart of Barcelona, Spain. It is considered one of the most important squares in the city and is home to several important buildings, including the City Hall (Ajuntament de Barcelona) and the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia, which houses the offices of the President of Catalonia and the Government of Catalonia. The square is often used for public events and political demonstrations and is a popular tourist destination. You should stop by to visit this place.

Barcelona is indeed a beautiful city with so much to explore. There are touristic gems scattered everywhere. Regardless of your interest and location, one can always find something of interest. There's a good transport link with tickets for bus, Metro, tram and trains.

Plaça de Sant Jaume is a fairly large, plain, medieval plaza that's dominated by two government buildings, the city hall and the city council building. There are some shops in the square, but not very many. The square does not have a lively quality, though its usually crammed with people. This is probably because there are no restaurant gardens or coffee shops with outdoor seating. People are mostly passing through there. It's ok for a look and a picture but there is little atmosphere there and you'll not want to linger any more than a couple of minutes.

Historical square of Barcelona, where the Town Hall sits. Normally there can be a lot of activity here, musicians, political meetings, etc but on a Monday afternoon it was almost empty. What you can really feel standing here in front of the flags, is the desire of the people of Catalunya for their own country.

This is a very nice square in the old Barcelona, unfortunately pedestrians have to share it with cars and bikes. This was the very ancient center of Barcelona, even in Roman times, as here was to be found the Forum. Later a church was built - St Jaume, but it was demolished to give way to the administrative heart of Barcelona in 19th century. Now this a good place to take some photos, to see the Catalonian flag and to feel the desire of the Catalans for their own country.

This centrally located square is where the Catalan regional government sits. A lot of local events are organized here. Be it rallies, concerts, political meetings, etc.

What to say about Plaça de Sant Jaume? This is a beautiful plaza featuring the Catalonia Government Palace, as well as restaurants and shops. There is ample space for walking and picture-taking. The alleyways that lead in and out of it are very beautiful too.

Historic main square within the Gothic Quarter. Very lively during the day. Yet peaceful & safe at night. A perfect meeting/gathering space due to its central location.

The Plaça de Sant Jaume is the main square at the center of the Old City of Barcelona and the main administrative heart of both the city and surrounding area of Catalonia. This place is one of the most vibrant place filled with tourist attractions and showcasing the beauty of Barcelona. Has many good restaurants and cafes, a great place to walk around and explore the old city of Barcelona.

It's the centre of public and political power, and as it is placed in the old town... highly visited when in the city!! It's a must to visit in Barcelona!!

I can't really compare it to another time of year but we visited while they were doing the Castellers so it was pretty crowded as you would expect. Somehow though we all still fitted in!

The Plaça de Sant Jaume is a square at the center of the Old City of Barcelona and the administrative heart of both the city and surrounding Catalonia. This is because the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the City Hall are located here across from one another. This square's origin stems from the early-19th century, when the new main façade of City Hall was built and the former church of Sant Jaume was demolished.

We watched the castells in this Plaça after seeing the groups parading down the street. It was an incredible view into the Catalan culture. There were shady spots around the square to view from. We were here on a Sunday around 1. There are also many restaurants, cafes & gelato shops to get to-go and then watch.

If this is where the musicians play right by the chariot museum then yes it's a 5 star place to be. The acoustics are particularly good because it is a plaça surrounded by buildings which creates an enclosed feel although outside. Welcoming
