There is one of the biggest collection of different musician instruments. The music is traditional. It's more intetesting for really musicians not for odinary people. We were bored here

(Translated by Google) A crap. The second time I try to meet him. And this time I have reviewed the page very well so as not to find it closed and surprise even though the website says that it opens on Sunday and from 10 am to 7 pm here I am and it is closed and they do not warn. A disappointment and a lack of organization (Original) Una porquería. La segunda vez que intento conocerlo. (Translated by Google) He began his life in 1921, when the authorities accepted donations from a group of Catalan "music lovers-patricians" ... The funds raised for the birth of the new Museum of Theater, Music and Dance were realized ... However, the civil war in Spain intervened in development ... In 1946, the music museum returned to the cultural scene. In preparation for the Olympics 92, the idea came up to build a museum space entirely dedicated to music ... And now, getting closer to music, in the company of musical instruments from around the world (the collection has more than 2000 copies) gives us all an unforgettable experience ...

I expected more interaction, more displays of music, more information on the wealth of instruments this museum had. Although very expansive and cool to see such a variety of global instruments, I wasn't really engaged.

(Translated by Google) It has very well preserved antique instruments and at the end you can play a harp, a cello or a guitar in the last room and it seems a very good option ... But ... It is very lacking in explanations in general and all the names, videos and brochures of the exhibition are only in Catalan ... It has not exceeded my expectations, they should take care of the details, being that it is supposed to be a "tourist" site and not a simple private collection (Original) Tiene instrumentos antiguos muy bien conservados y al final puedes tocar un arpa, un cello o una guitarra en la última sala y me parece una opción muy buena...

(Translated by Google) A very interesting museum if you are passionate about music and instruments. You have the possibility of touching any of them. The museum opens its doors for free on the first Sunday of each month. The day I went they held a workshop with instruments from Bali, the proposal was very interesting and those in charge of giving it to some geniuses and passionate. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately they have a web page with bad information. Indicates that every first Sunday is open. Today, January 6, I was not. Only a badly educated security official told you this with arrogance, but it was not published. For which many of us lost our trip. However, the design museum a few meters away was open today. That is, bad management. It was a great experience. The stuff is super nice and very welcoming. We forgot a little bag at the museum, and they right away send back to our home country!! On top of the museum has a lot to offer. They have a great variety of instruments from all times and from all over the world. So if you are in Barcelona definitely go there.

Great place! As a musician myself I really appreciated the fact that this kind of collection exists, and the fact that I have had a chance to see it myself is fascinating! I believe that any person would find something interesting for themselves here, so definitely would recommend visiting. There is even a room where you can play some of the instruments you are able to see in the exhibition! Nice staff, nice place and a nice atmosphere. Couldn’t be better.

Interesting museum, showcasing various musical instruments from around the world, some very unusual or beautifully decorated. There is a space near the exit where visitors can try some of the instruments, including a harp and a cello, which I find great. However, it would greatly benefit from more explanations, especially for the more exotic pieces. For example, an interactive screen where visitors could see and hear a demo of some of the instruments. I saw in one of the comments that this is available through the audio guide or via some Spotify playlists, which is a great idea, but not really advertised (or I didn't see it anyway). The access should also be better signaled, the museum entrance is tucked away behind a column and difficult to find.

Not a huge collection, as collections go, but very adequate to spend a pleasant hour or so looking at everything - mostly instruments, but some music-related art and some older music recording and playback equipment. The instrument names are only in Spanish (or perhaps Catalan?), so if you know the English names it's interesting to see what the Spanish equivalent is.

Very big collection of instruments from all over the world. Nice thing, it has a room where you can play some instruments, such as guitars and a cello.

  • 3/5 S K. 6 years ago on Google
Good museum? Ça dépend, on your perspective. Three thousand instruments yes, diversity no. The museum should retitle itself as « museu de la musique Europa ». It has a big collection of organs pianos violins and guitars. To their credit they have an exhibit on the Korean musical instruments. Also woodwind instruments progression in design is presented. It lacks the instruments of other continents, Africa is next door, no djembe, no kora Ngoni, nothing on the history of music gêneras evolvement. But yes you can read on the wall quoted by claude Debussy on the « parfum plus persistants ». It is such a narrow slice of the world instruments perspective to say 3000 repetitive instruments is mis-leading.

(Translated by Google) They have a very interesting collection of musical instruments on display, even at some points with a demonstration of how they sound. Perhaps the guides and notes could improve as glass texts, some only in Catalan, but even with that it is still worth a visit. Take advantage of Thursdays from 6pm, which is free and not many people go. In addition, there is a room at the end to play instruments, the museum is very full. It is not very expensive (~ 5 €) so it is very positive. Please note: the museum is located next to the auditorium but you have to go up to the 2nd floor with the elevator !! Look hard to find it. (Original) Très beau musée !
