Nice ambiance, friendly staff. But serving Lavazza coffee. If you don't really care about what your coffee is, as long as it's a brown liquid then you won't be disappointed. Edit to reply to CF: My complaint is you have a great place and good food and are creating a higher class ambience with attention to detail and good service. And then you serve Lavazza coffee which is a generic coffee brand I can buy anywhere. You have the stage to showcase some amazing coffees from Mozambique or Tanzania for example which are world class specialty coffees. It's your right to choose the type of coffee you sell and mine to be disappointed.

It's a charming café with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu has decent options but don't expect too much in terms of variety, but for a café of its size, that's just fine.

SOOOOO MANY RULES!!!! Not a nice experience to be lectured on computer ethics in public spaces by the owner. Wow, I just want to sit down, have something to eat, have something to drink, and check my emails after being on the road for 4 hours. Told me I could sit outside with my device, but it was waaay too hot and sunny out there. Can't I sit inside, with all the other patrons in the nice cool air-conditioned space??? Was soo sad to have this experience as I was very excited to have found them open again after COVID. It used to be my favorite spot in Maputo....not so much anymore. 😢😢 I'll find somewhere that doesn't mind me being productive. Im here to work lady...not to chit chat.

Great coffee! Friendly staff. Best croissants according to my kids. A must when visiting Maputo.

Not a good place if you want to work on your laptop. I was thrown out in a rather unfriendly manner because I stayed for a longer while and didn’t not consume enough. I was quite irritated by the brisk manner in which I was told to make space for other customers.

The salmon sandwich was ridiculously small, took half an hour to prepare (ours was one of three tables in the cafe at the time) and cost MZN 750 (about EUR/USD 11), coffee was okay, the service staff was friendly unlike the owner who was at best indifferent to the customers. There may be people who may wish to overpay for mediocre food but I am not going there again.

Varieties of teas are excellent but the boiled water for tea must be the mineral water. Ambiance is very nice and cool, It is not advisable for middle class people. Only a request/suggestion is to increase size of cakes as it is almost nothing according to what you pay.

Becoming very bad service. Too much pricy, and not kids friendly place. Before we like to come with kids, now, they’re not welcoming too much kids.

Croissants are okay, the manager or owner is not very pleasant. She charged us full price (300mts) for the orange juice and only brought half a mason jar worth of juice (only noticed when we left that she charged us full price), while the other tables had a big glass full.

Not the typical coffee out, as it is a french themed coffee shop, hence a hit pricy. Nevertheless, the sandwiches are heavenly done. Definitely worth it for a once in a while visit!

We walked in and sat for 20 minutes, we were just given menus and no one came back to attend to us till we actually had to leave.. The service is very bad

With a vintage French style, Chez Fred has a relaxing atmosphere and provides pristine service. The food was delish. I enjoyed the quinoa salad with chicken breasts with fresh avocado and chocolate and hazelnut croissant, which was freshly baked and scrumptious. It is not a cheap place, come ready to spend at least MZN 1000
