Small intimate downstairs cellar that seats 22 max (call for reservations) Seating for 35 upstairs. Amazing selection of beer and wine + gear sandwiches and apps Love this place!

Easily the coolest place around! You would think you’re in an actual pub in Germany. They did a fantastic job! The prices were surprisingly affordable! Our bill was $40 for two adults with entrees, pretzels, and a big beer. The food was great as well! A very small menu, but still delicious. The beer selection was great too!

The beer and wine selection is fantastic and the food is just perfect! We were greeted immediately by a bar tender and asked what he could get for us, when we got. Table our server was very attentive and helpful. Great experience over all!

Really small place. Family owned and run. Owner was welcoming as this was our first time there. Nice German beer bottled selection. Barkeep, bar back, and cook all friendly, even when it hot slammed. Reuben was excellent. As was red cabbage and potatoe salad. We asked side of spatzel but got it with London broil. Yeah for me this is why it was a 4, but not a 5. I'd not get those again. Meatballs looked good.

From ambient to products and service, this place is great. Very good and fast service; you can taste the freshness of each ingredient in every bite. A long list of beers to choose from. Reservation is recommended for your peace of mind.

We had an evening meal at Unterhausen The Castle Cellar Pub, food was good, beer was good, service was good, and since it was the last Thursday of the month, there was live music, and that was good, too. When in the area again, we will definitely stop in for some yummy eats and drinks.

After all the growth in Downtown Simpsonville, Unterhausen still reigns supreme as our favorite S’ville spot to meet with friends or have a date night. Wade the owner is always a pleasure to talk to, the bartenders know their stuff and the kitchen crushes it every time. Be sure to make reservations a day in advance if possible as this cozy atmosphere fills up quickly.

Our monthly dining-out group of 10 enjoyed a wonderful evening at Unterhausen. We were seated in the spacious street level dining room as a couple in our group are unable to go up and down stairs. We would have ventured downstairs to their original quaint German themed pub otherwise. We were amazed by the extensive beer and wine menu. Many in our group raved about the Rueben Sandwich dinner and others, the Bratwurst dinner or London Broil sliders. I enjoyed my Spaetzle with London Broil selection along with a hearty dark stout draft brew. Our server was friendly and professionally attentive not skipping a beat while making sure we all were pleased. The restaurant owner greeted all of us and treated us to humorous stories. Someone in our group must have told him my 80th birthday was in a couple of days as he sang a traditional german birthday song. Definitely an evening to remember.

Our group of 10 had an amazing time. We were able to talk to each other without loud music drowning us out. The owner and our waiter were attentive and fun. Definitely will return!

Is give a hundred stars if i could for atmosphere alone! We've been going there since 2015 and just love everything about it. Wade, the owner, and Steve are all the entertainment you'll need. If i didn't live 8 hours away heck I'd go tonight. My favorite place to be.

Wow… Great beer—and most surprising, the best red cabbage I think I’ve ever had! This place was amazing!

Very inviting atmosphere! The staff was very friendly from the time I walked in, to the time that I left. They have a very neat pub downstairs. The German food was very delicious! The selection of beer and wine was very impressive. They had some live music that was great. I'd recommend this place to anyone that wants a nice evening out on the town.

Stumbled upon this place one evening while in town and absolutely loved it! My mother is Austrian so German food is one of my favorite. Menu is limited but that is likely by design, food was delicious! Loved the atmosphere and having to walk down into the basement to eat.

The dining room was very nice but has a more formal feel which is in stark contrast to the basement area which is very rustic, casual and inviting. It would be an ideal site for small events (bridesmaid luncheons, small wedding rehearsal dinners, business meetings, etc). My suggestion would be to revamp the dining room to move it more toward the theme of the basement for a warmer, friendlier feel. The basement is always filled to capacity when we've gone there so we chose this time to dine in the dining room and we were the only ones there. They have live music on the 2nd and last Thursday of each month in the dining room. We ordered two appetizers and shared them. It was a gracious plenty and was very good. I highly recommend trying it if you haven't already.

Fabulous ambience! London Broil sliders were on point. Staff attentive and pleasant. Only a single beer on tap (kolsch), but an epic selection of wines and bottle/canned beers.

Meant to visit along time ago to confirm rumors of reviews but didn't make it until this past week of October 2019. Well! The rumors are correct! It is the best German food you will have outside of Germany. It is as if you are eating at your mom or grandmom place. Somebody in there knows German food! Sirloin sliders (3) portion evergreen! The bratwurst must be had. Don't leave without having it, and the Reuben is one of the best sandwiches in town's! The name of the place means exactly that. UNDER (Unter) which means is in the basement: bar and two tables. TWO. so if it rain or its cold, you can't sit in one of the three outside tables! The place is your typical German beer den and food to accompany your beer, which means a limited menu. Don't complain and don't go if you want a full service and unlimited food choices. The service considering they had to go downstairs and bring the food upstairs and outside was efficient and pleasant . The food was fresh and true German. The atmosphere under or outside outstanding. We made friends with 6 people! Go-ahead you will have fun, eat good food and make new friends...

Amazing work done in that minuscule kitchen. Bratwurst plate was great that my spouse and I splitted with a charcuterie board. Kolsch on Tap was perfect.

London broil sliders were very good. Bruschetta as appetizer was tasty. Many wine and beer choices. Service was competent and friendly. Enjoyed the ambience.

We went to the downstairs area. It's a little tight, but clean and cozy. The selections we tried were good. We didn't eat there, but what a menu. Our friends had the sliders and the salmon and enjoyed it very much. My only disappointment is that I would have liked to do what's called a flight of the beers. But they don't do flights.
