We had a fantastic lunch. The food is local home cooked and really delicious. We had our 3yr old with us and chef made him a special kids meal which he loved. We had a three course set menu which she guided us through and helped us explore local dishes. Was the best meal we have had in Mauritius and such a relaxed and atmosphere. Thanks!

Best food I had in Mauritius! Delicious dishes packed with tons of flavour. The chef came out to explain each dish to us and the staff was very friendly. They provide set menus with an appetizer, main dish and dessert. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting this area. 5/5 stars.

We found it just by chance on Google maps and were intrigued by all the five star reviews. We booked a few days in advance and it did not disappoint! You get a 3 course surprise menu and you only tell them what you can‘t or don‘t like to eat. The appetiser, split pea fritters with green chili sauce were amazing and so crispy, as a main course we had creole chicken in the tastiest sauce, with lentil soup, coconut and peanut chutney, jackfruit, some greens and a fish curry. We also loved the coconut and pineapple ice cream. A must do when you are staying in Flic en Flac!

I really enjoyed our lunch at the Creole Shack. You can experience the tasty traditional food of Mauritius. You get 3 courses. To each course the incredible chef cook gives you an explanation and recommends the best way to combine the different sauces, vegetables, meat and fish. Definitely a must do on Mauritius! Thanks for having us☺️

Excellent home made food. The restaurant’s principle is to enjoy food as you are at home. The chef is preparing every day a different (main) dish for the guests, just as we do at home. There is no menu to read. You just need to say if you are allergic to something and if you have any alimentary restrictions. The lovely and friendly chef is explaining what you will eat after the dish is served! All dishes are well prepared and full of flavors. As first the famous gato pima (gateaux piment) bites were served! Made from split peas, onions and some kefir leave. Crispy to perfection! As main we had, on the day of our visit, grilled tuna, aromatic chicken (with curry spices and lemon), lentil soup, water cress salad, jackfruit, coconut chutney, beetroot salad and pickled papaya! To finish we had a refreshing coconut ice cream with caramelized pineapple. The chef (I am sorry to not recall her name), was delightful and was making great jokes with us. We felt at home and definitely we will return! Merci again! 😊😊

An incredible, immersive Creole dining experience. Melini, the owner/chef, was wonderfully hospitable, explaining each dish and making us feel at home. Not only is she a fantastic Creole chef, she is also a lovely human being! Needless to say the food was divine, really capturing what Mauritian food is all about. Absolutely the best Gateau Piments on the entire island! My only criticism is that Melini wouldn’t share her secret recipe for making them so light & fluffy… Do not leave Flic en Flac without eating here!! 6 out of 5 stars.

Visited 31st May and this is definitely the place, where you want to go, when you want to try Maurician food. The owner will explain everything and will nicely introduce everything. She is very kind and english is not a problem. Make reservation via Whatsapp day before you want to go. The are 3 courses of the menu, starter, main course and dessert. You can feel and taste local and homemade prepared meals for sure, which are really delicious. We had the best gateux piments on the island here ! I recommend this restaurant to everybody. Many thanks for the great culinary experience and we will come back for sure !

Best meal I've had in Mauritius. Three courses, all explained, home cooked and delicious. They really need a Michelin star if you ask me. Would give more than 5 stars of I could.

Authentic delicicious Creole cuisine, an amazing experience and such warm hospitality from Chef/Owner Malini and her husband Harry. Situated just off the Coastal Rd in Flic-en-Flac, this is a must experience. They are open for lunches only. Skip the beach trucks and go straight there.

Delicious local food and a great dining experience! All food is homemade and there is a set 3 course menu for the day. Food is 800 rupees for a three course meal. The chef asks for any dietary requirements or dislikes and amends the dishes for you (where possible). You self serve hot or cold drinks of your choice from the fridge and counter inside. On the day we had 1) potato, chilli bites served with a green chilli sauce. 2) 3 curries (prawn, fish and chicken) served with rice, papaya salsa, coconut chutney and slaw. 3) Dessert was coconut and pineapple ice cream. (Sadly, no dessert options for those who are lactose intolerant, but sweets were given instead). The staff are extremely friendly and it feels like home. We ate here on the last day in Flic en Flac and wished we were able to return - it was the best mauritian meal of the trip! Definitely worth a visit!

👍👍 A very very good place. The place is beautiful 😍 The atmosphere and ambience. A very intimate, romantic or family friendly atmosphere created by the lake, dimmed lights, and private tables on the lake. The restaurant is massive. A lot of effort has been put into this place. 👍👍 Food was excellent as well as service. No long waits to be served and food was cooked just right. We had the prawns cooked with garlic butter and ginger (which is a very interesting twist to the very common garlic butter), octopus salad, salmon and grilled chicken. Everything was delicious. 🫤 We were a group of 22 persons, but bad experience. Food is average. Starters were good. As main course, I took bol renverser which was okay, but my friend took fried noodles and apparently it was not good. Customer service is at its worst. The lady (apparently the owner herself) took our orders, b...
