Mammiyur Sri Mahadeva Temple is located near Guruvayoor Temple for about 2km away. Most of the devotees who visits Guruvayoor temple also prefers to visit this temple. Main deities of the temple was Mahadevan and Vishnu. There's a huge banyan tree in the premises of the temple which gives enhances the ambiance of this place. We can also buy prasadhams such as Unniyappam and Paayasam from the counter in front of the temple.

This is a must visit tempke after Guruvayoor darshan. The Guruvayoor trip is complete only after going to Mammiyur. Near Guruvayoor are two wonderful temples Parthasarathy Temple, the Garba Griha is on a chariot structure. Then there is Sri Chamundeshwari Temple. Both these temples are very close to Guruvayoor Temple.

Originally called as MAHIMA-YOOR Temple (The City of Mahima/Greatness). . An amazing temple of Mahadev with comparatively lesser crowd than Guruvayur. . This is the place where Mahadev shifted along with Parvati Mata, after the Guruvayur (original place of Mahadev/Parvati) was given for keeping VISHNU's Idol (this idol Krishna & Family worshipped in Dwarka but after Dwarka destroyed it was brought in Guruvayur). . Due to this, it is said that, visit of Guruvayur is incomplete without the darshan of Mammiyoor Temple.

Guruvayur darshan is only completed after worshipping in Mammiyur Mahadeva Khsetram. The main deity is Lord Shiva in the form of Uma Maheshwara and Lord Vishu is given equal importance in the temple. The upadevathas are Sree Parvathy, Ganapathy, Subramanya, Ayyappa, Bhavatha, Nagas, Brahma Rakshassu and Rakshassu. The Pooja Timings are :- 04.45 am - 12.30 pm, and 04.45 pm - 08.30 pm Ladies are not allowed to visit the temple in Chudidhars. However, ladies can get a dhothi from the stall on rent, and visit the temple. The temple is less crowded compared to Sree Krishna Temple, and devotees can pray peacefully.

Visit to guruvayur krishna temple is incomplete without visiting the mammiyur Shiva temple. Folklore says mammiyur shivan only directed the place for guruvayur temple. Very powerful shivan deity along with Mahavishnu is unique.

It is said that visit to Guruvayoor temple is not complete without visit to temple of Lord Shiva. It is located close to the Guruvayoor temple and one can walk the distance or take an auto rickshaw. It's an old temple and vintage is as old as the Guruvayoor temple. It is believed that Lord Shiva gave his place at Guruvayoor to Lord Vishnu and himself moved to Mammiyur. The temple is not crowded and is a must visit at Guruvayoor.

Peaceful, quiet little temple. There is a certain calm and chill in the air, maybe because it is not as crowded as the Guruvayoor temple. Men will need to make sure they wear the traditional lungi or sarong before entering the main part of the Temple. One can have good views of the diety from the outside itself, nonetheless. Good visit. Ample space to put your feet up.

Mammiyur Mahadeva Temple is a popular Shiva temple situated in Guruvayoor, Thrissur district of Kerala, India.[1] Every devotee who goes to Guruvayur Temple is supposed to go to Mammiyoor also, as the ritual goes. Only Hindus are allowed inside the temple premises. The temple is a part of the 108 famous Shiva temples in Kerala and one among the five Shiva temples around Guruvayoor. The main deity is Lord Shiva, who is installed in the concept of 'Uma Maheshwara' - His form with Goddess Parvathi on his left. There is a shrine for Lord Vishnu also here. The sub-deities are Lord Ganapathi, Lord Subrahmanya, Lord Ayyappan, Goddess Kali and Serpent deities. This temple is managed by Malabar Devaswom Board. Daily three poojas are conducted. Very very nice temple, a must go if you are visiting guruvayoor temple. Beautifully decorated idol of lord shiva. Positive vibes. Heard the damarukam being played for the lord by the priests/staff during our visit. We went near to closing time but luckily were able to have clear darshan. Made our day.

Divine Temple of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Very serene and positive vibration the minute you enter the temple premises. Though there was rush when we visited, the authorities swiftly managed the crowd. Don't forget to visit Bhagvathi Temple as well, which is located behind this temple. Car parking is available slightly ahead of the temple.. Must visit Temple if you are visiting Guruvayur Temple

Mammiyoor Shiva Temple is part of Kerala's 108 Shiva temples. Located close to the Guruvayur temple, it is one of the five Shiva temples around Guruvayur. Shiva's shrine inside the temple appears as Uma Maheshwara, with Goddess Parvathy on the left. Devotees believe that the place where Guru and Vayu consecrated the idol of Lord Krishna became Guruvayoor, and the site that Lord Shiva chose for himself and his consort Sree Parvathy became Mahimayur. Mahima evolved out of the status bestowed on Lord Shiva for voluntarily relinquishing his initial abode to accommodate Lord Krishna, and the worship at Guruvayoor becomes complete only with a visit to Mammiyoor.

Shiva is the main Deity here in the form of a two feet tall linga. When he is decorated with gold cladding, tiers of bright cresents, He presents a beautiful serene look. Next to Him, we have an equally beautiful MahaVishnu shrine. The butter cladding done on him presents an awesome look of the Lord. Reminding us of Guruvayoorappan himself. When we go around the outer parikrama, there is a Bhagavatha temple on the northwest corner. She looks so beautiful in her gold cladding that one stays rooted looking at her awesome face. Legend has that Sri Mahadeva offered the place where presently Sri Guruvayoorappan is installed and moved over here when Vayu and Guru bhagawan brought Sri Krishna's idol from Dwaraka. A must visit temple.

It's a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at Mamiyur, which is 1 KM from Guruvayur. Lord Shiva has given the land or space for the Lord Krishna when Devathas Vayu and Prahaspathi approached him to install Lord Krishna. Uthava has obtained Lord Krishna's Vigraha when Dwaraka is submerged, Uthava handed over to Devathas Vayu and Prahaspathi. It's a must visit temple, and it has a parking facility on the sides. Temple has Sub Shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Krishna, Lord Murugan, and Sastha. It also has a Sarpa kavu and temple for Bagavati (if I am right). Those who visit Guruvayur must visit this temple is mythology. However, you have one place at Guruvayur temple, where you can stand and worship Lord Shiva as an alternate. Well maintained temple.

Only Hindus are allowed inside the sanctum sanctorum, and there is a strict dress code. Men can enter wearing only a mundu, and bare chested, whereas ladies can wear saree or salwar-kameez. There is a footwear stand where one has to leave their shoes and slippers. Devotees can purify themselves in the temple pond, known as Rudratheertham, before entering the temple. Temple timings are: Morning: 4.45 am to 12.30 pm. Evening: 4.45 pm to 8.30 pm. The main deity is Lord Shiva in the form of Uma Maheswara. Lord Vishnu is also there in another sanctum as well as the idols of Parvathi, Ganapathi, Subrahmanya, Ayyappa, Bhagavathy, Naga, Brahma Rakshassu are also present. The temple is well looked after and has a regular stream of devotees from morning to evening. Cameras and phones are not allowed inside the sanctum and there are lockers to deposit your clothes and valuables. One cannot park in front of the temple and there are security guards to ensure that, but we could park a little ahead on the roadside and in the side lanes.

Simply Divine When Guru and Vayu wanted to make the Vishnu Temple where it is today known as Guruvayur Temple, it is said that Lord Shiva shifted from that place to make way and is now present at the Mammiyoor Temple which is a must visit for every devotee after having Darshan at the Guruvayur Temple. It is said that that the Darshan of Guruvayur Vishnu is complete only when you visit the Mammiyoor Mahadev Temple after that. This temple is beautiful, very peaceful and quite empty in the morning. A lot of positive vibrations inside and you feel like sitting there for sometime.... Overall a must visit for every devotee....
