Great leader, this place is located in the grave yard, not in any personal land.

We paid a visit twice to Veerappan's burial place while returning from Mahadeshwara Hills (in Karnataka). The burial place is situated on the shore of Mettur Dam reservoir. First time I went was when the burial place was accessible. The second time could not go as Mettur dam reservoir was full and the burial place road was flooded. There is no memorial building. His remains were buried and some people are there to tell stories about him and get some tips from visitors. Veerappan was a brave soul and survived in the dense forest for a few decades. Wondering how he could have done it for years living day & night in the forest. In the end I guess his family is suffering. If you visit Mettur or Kolathur or Mahadeshwara Hills, stop by for 5 minutes and remember his old kidnapping stories :). Road condition was not good. Hence be prepared for bumpy ride from the main road to burial place which is close by.
