Small store with a good selection of older artifacts. Both some lamps and the price was very good.

An interesting curated collection of Indian and wooden items dating back at least 80 years, and some much much older!

Visiting tourist destinations is invariably just for the pleasure of enjoying the comforts of the resort & the beauty of the location. Very often the modern destinations have been transformed by modern amenities provided in an otherwise naturally beautiful location. Many visitors just relax in the coziness of the comforts and the cuisine. However, Kumarakom Wood Castle Serviced Apartments, the attached Craft Museum and the Curiosity Shop, excitingly offered us an entirely different perspective of a tourist destination. It definitely provided all the luxuries and more, of a modern destination. However, what distinguished it was that the entire setting gave us an overall CULTURAL, ETHNIC & HISTORICAL WALK THROUGH of the region, at no extra cost. It was not just at the Museum or the Curiosity Shop, which definitely has a concentration of fabulous, interesting and locally relevant items... we felt the excitement all through, in the apartment layout, the rooms, the kitchen facilities, the dining and even in the food we had. The full Kerala splendour. We can say it was a holiday like no other... we not just saw... We truly had an UNIQUE & THRILLING EXPERIENCE ! It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit... And, while we travelled around Kumarakom & Kottayam, our time at the Kumarakom Wood Castle, was the MOST FULFILLING, really !

Interesting collection of antique pieces from Kerala district in a traditional building. Good tour by the young curator who is knowledgeable and helpful. Maintained by the government with a shop on ground floor and 2 levels of rooms above. Worth a quick diversion. There is not much else in Kumarakom other than the bird sanctuary and the boat tours, and of course the lake.

We got a complementary pass to this museum for staying at their hotel. They have around 3000+ items in their museum. All things are a part of the great collection by Mr Shaji Mathew. The way they have displayed the items are also awsome.

😐 Government constructed it as house boat station, have many ramps nicely constructed. But they didn’t provide basic amenities. Doesn’t have enough parking space. We have to park at roadside that too a very narrow one. And house boat doesn’t come over here for pick up drop off. Now local fisherman’s a...
