What can I say, I've been a member for over 2 years and originally I loved the vibe of the club as it's tucked into a local woodland just off the Sidcup Bypass. This really could be the ideal location to come to work out and most importantly to relax if the gym could get the basics right. I have had my fair share of run-in with the staff over the last 2 years, most are extremely polite but god forbid you bring up any issues. You'll normally have a manager jump right down your neck plus if you complain to HQ they just send it back to the club to deal with so nothing gets resolved. After the covid period the gym staff were still obsessed with protocols and regularly abused COSHH regulations by leaving harmful chemicals lying around the site for members to clean down machines. When I complained about this I was made to feel like I was the one with the problem. Staff even used to put anti-foamer in the spa pool while guests were bathing in the water, ridiculous. Now onto the spa.... I loved this spa, the jacuzzi was great for my mental health and the power jet was perfect for any muscle pain after workouts. Taking away the jacuzzi was the single most painful part of the last 2 years for me. At first it was about saving money and then the truth came out last week about the company pushing for net zero by 2030. Woke businesses don't get my money and the fact that they didn't offer a reduction in the membership showed that this was definitely a 'don't like it then leave' move. While I was at the club on the last day of Feb the staff were told to offer member cancellations and they tried to tell me I'd need to pay another month. I cancelled my DD instead. They informed the membership just 24 hours before our banks would have been locked in for another pay run on our accounts. This has been handled very poorly by Nuffield and sadly as much as this gym has a lot of potential, they really need to give it some love. It's not a £80-£100 a month gym, it's a pound shop David Lloyd.

We had a day pass there to use their swimming pool and spa facilities. It was okay, not everything was working but it was clean and not too busy. We could find a spot to park the car.

Good overall gym and pool areas, nothing special or worthy of the monthly fee. The whole place really looks aged and could do with an upgrade of equipment and refurbishment. The bland interior just gives hospital vibes and doesn't feel special considering this is one of the more expensive nuffield locations. The lockers still require you to bring a padlock when other gyms I've been to with much lower fees have more modern facilities. I also appreciate my privacy especially when showering so the showers with no locks was a major negative. However I must say the staff are amazing, always around to assist and with a positive attitude. I've noticed a other comments mentioning the same issues so I hope they do take this into account and make the changes required.

Terrible place . Have been a member for roughly 3 years. I tried cancel my membership when I moved house , was told they could not cancel as I was still under contract and my new address has to be 5 + miles away from a Nuffield health and unfortunately my adress was exactly 5 miles away!! several emails later they are still refusing to cancel it. Petty I feel refusing over a matter of a few meters!! They gym it’s self if very under equipped for the price of the membership. If you like to deadlift heavy you will be told off as it makes to much noise downstairs , they haven’t taken any action to solve in the time I have been a memeber. Very few weights machines and only one of most things so this can stuff your work out right up if someone else has the same plan as you. There are no opening windows in the gym , and the air con is poor . The whole of last summer the air con was being ‘fixed’ and everytime you asked management when it will be sorted they didn’t know. Summer come back around and guess what a year on and the air con still isn’t up to standard . But they have provided two small fans to blow hot air around. Very very rearly is new equipment bought and when it is , it’s not equipment that’s wanted / needed by the members , This is down to very poor management not knowing much about whats wanted or needed on the gym floor. I have filled in hundereds of the surveys and nothing ever gets changed. The drinks fountains are the slowest things if you want to fill up a bottle you end up with a big queue behind you. Some of the PTs are very good , others I have seen some very questionable stuff being taught . For the price they charge they should all be at offering best advice there is. The one thing that has kept me a member for so long is that it’s very quite most of the time. But I believe this is down to them not being able to gain new members. The changing rooms and jacuzzi looks nice at 1st but once you have used them for a while you start to realise not all the showers work 100% ,some the drain sinks below your feet others just remain either very hot or very cold no in between . Quite a few of them the door doesn’t shut properly . Everytime I get in the jacuzzi I a new tile comes off in my hand . The changing area is kept reasonly clean but it isn’t maintained very well. Cafe is over priced and the food is adverage at best . Don’t waste your money on the smoothies and if you want a protein bar or a lucazade make sure youve got a small loan out. Once they have you as a member you are stuck there!!! They have no interest in you just your money !!

Good range of equipment but is quite dated. (The seat padding has sunk on some weight machines) gym area can feel stuffy when air con isn't on. Pool area is good. Big jacuzzi. There are some changing cubicles with broken locks since last year which haven't yet been fixed. You'd expect better if this is classed as a 'Tier 1' gym and charging £80 - 100 a month. It's not the worst gym in the world by any means but could be better. UPDATE: They have now closed the jacuzzi indefinitely as it cost them too much to run with the energy bills but instead of having this reflected in the monthly fee, they actually increased the price of their memberships. So pay more and get less. I have now left.

Great location and it could be an A* gym but Nuffield management has led to a consistent decline in service since they took over from Virgin Active a few years ago. For example: removal of important features such as: (1) Closing at 10pm where under Virgin it had been 10.30pm. (2) 'Temporarily' closing the jacuzzi which became permanent. (3) Closure of the changing room sauna - which going by the track record will also become permanent! (4) Poolside feature showers regularly not working - and the cold shower has been out of service for months - most likely another permanent feature! (5) I've heard from other members that children have to pay extra to use the pool under their parents membership

Lovely staff, but the place is sorely dated. You’re greeted by giant potholes. Paid £15 for the privilege of a pass with the intention of using the jacuzzi, only for it not to be working (wasn’t informed though there is a sign). Went swimming instead. The wet shorts drying machine is also out of order, and drinking fountain was taped up. So had to drive home sitting on a towel. The shared sauna had a strange smell and rainfall shower wouldn’t go hot on the hot setting (regardless of how long it was run for). Not what I’d expect from any premium gym, let alone one at c. £100/mo. Didn’t check the gym so can’t speak of it.

I have been going to Nuffield health in chislehurst for a year now. As soon as I joined they increased my monthly payment and the steam room broke and was not accessible for over 2 months. What I liked the most was the spa as I have sinus issues and I really benefit from sauna and steam room but also I like to relax in the jacuzzi after some work out. Shame that they now closed the jacuzzi because of the energy prices increase - although we are paying the same - until spring time! The other thing that I enjoy is the fact that is quiet there are no kids, however it is getting quite busy and it’s very difficult to find a mat to do your exercises, in fact, I do some at home before I go there just to avoid the stress of having to find a spot. Classes are good - I love dance on Thursdays - and also opening times. It gives you the chance to find something you like as well as go at the time that is most convenient for you. There is a small caffe open until 5 and parking space is always available. I really hope they don’t close the spa or I will cancel my membership. For now, I will carry on.

Friendly staffs , The whole gym , facilities needs immediate improvement in compare with others. Equipments needs to be added and some always out of order due to age! The paint started to piling off in the gym and needs more happier colours , Also the ceiling in the jacuzzi is been damaged , dampened for over a year now . People shaving in Sauna and there is no sign for this ! I am going to join a new club if I do not see improvement after new year .

I ticked this rating as there was no other lower one I could give to the Services!!! I made a booking for Deep Tissue Massage last week and was told someone will contact me to reconfirm the booking. I didnt get a call so I called back just yesterday evening only to be informed that my booking was not showing due to a problem with the system. I was informed there were two slots and again made another booking where everything was confirmed for me. I just made a call now to inform them I was running a little bit late only to be told yet again, that the booked details are not showing anywhere on the system!!! So much went into this arrangements on my part and its just a shame that such an institution will waste people's time this way. This is totally ridiculous I'm afraid!

Being a member here which is my home club was amazing in 2018,2019 and 2020. Haven’t been back since 1st lockdown, however still paying my memebership that expired in July 31st 2021. I visited Nuffields Chislehurst in Aug 10th 2021 for the first time in a while, before renewing my membership would like a free day pass to see if things has changed but been asked to pay £15 for entry. Staff has been changed now and the previous staff were more friendly and more welcoming. I know if it was the previous staff I would of got looked after which will help me consider rejoining Nuffields. After this situation I will never visit any Nuffields health anymore because it feels like I been robbed for 30mins use of the gym.

The club is OK. I visit on a day pass occasionally to use the pool facilities. The gym itself is extremely dated and below standard. Anytime Fitness has superior equipment for actually working out with weights and cardio. The pool area and spa is nice but isn’t really luxury - mould in the grouting everywhere, slippery floor, etc.

Worst gym I have been to. I think the Nuffield Health chain is actually great but this particular gym and the management team are really bad. Not only was my locker broken into on their premises and all my stuff stolen, the gym and staff did absolutely nothing to assist. The gym is also falling apart and needs severe maintenance. For those looking for a gym with a sauna, steam room, good management and reassurance that your belongings are safe do not join this particular Nuffield health gym or pay more to go to a David Lloyd. Worst gym experience I have ever had and most stressful too. The best thing I did was leave this gym

I joined this gym this week after a tour given by Trevena. She was really professional, personable and answered all the questions I had. The reception seems really friendly and the gym is really clean. The gym has great facilities and the few times I’ve been there has not been a wait to use any of the equipment.

This is the most fantastic gym I have ever been to and I am very sad to be leaving (due to moving house). The facilities are excellent and clean, but what makes this gym are all of the lovely gym instructors - most notably Emma and Shreena who have lead many classes of mine over the years. A huge thank you to you. Also a big shout out to Keith who has such a brilliant sense of humour and positive attitude. I can't recommend this gym enough and thank you once again to all of the lovely instructors.

An adult only gym with great machines for cardio and a really useful free weights area. Plenty of personal training staff are on hand to help and show you best practices when it comes to using the equipment. Downstairs there is a big spa area complete with pool, steam room sauna and massive jacuzzi. Once you have finished the work out There is a coffee shop and restaurant serving fresh and healthy breakfasts and lunches. Well worth a membership

Friendly staff, but this place is in dire need of an upgrade, and could be so much better. Jacuzzi still not working after months. Tired walls and paint peeling. Pot holes at the entrance when drive in. If you are charging people a high rate each month at least make it look more presentable. Nice pool though

Try another Nuffield - Bromley is friendlier. Miss out on the hydrotherapy but get the customer service. Booked a class via the app, went to the gym as usual and went to sign in. Was told I was not in the class. I stated that I had booked in via app. Instead of listening to my frustration Donna decided she knew best and couldn't help but lecture me as to why I should've had a confirmation email. If you have my email address on file and can't see that you have not sent me an email ever then maybe you need to upgrade your systems. Donna needs to understand that saying you are "trying to support" me and being aggressive in your tone and attitude does not make the customer feel very great. Donna also needs to learn that when another member of staff is dealing with a situation it is not appropriate to but in and interfere.

Great, as long as you don’t go on a Friday morning when they have re-rented the café out to a bunch of corporate types for the first hour of the day preventing members accessing the café at all despite it being open to the private hire. They don’t seem to understand that the members gym or club essentially means that we have access to the facilities and nobody else does. They have literally resold the members café to corporate or other meetings every single Friday morning. On top of that the staff don’t seem to get why this is this not ok... or care about it... and are quite rude when you ask them what’s going on. I would not expect this. The staff were so bad and unpleasant about this that I’ve ended up giving it one star. Special shout out to Gary on reception who is an unhelpful, patronising and unnecessarily argumentative young man. ????

Worked here for a while, extremely friendly members and staff and a very social environment. Would highly recommend the equipment, customer service and other members to anyone who is looking for a secluded gym that is build around an adults only vibe which no other gym can do as good as Nuffield Health Chislehurst! Was very sad to leave this place of work

The joint pain programme is amazing, it really has helped with my pain, mobility and self belief. I've always found the gym extremely clean and tidy, the disabled accessible toilet has been fixed and made very nice. The staff are totally amazing people, every single one of them has been friendly, happy to help and so supportive of my fitness journey. The reception staff remember you and always have a smile. I've heard some members speaking to staff like dirt, there's no need to talk down to people just because you may have a bit of money, it doesn't make you entitled to be rude! The classes are varied and take all levels, you can even do them sitting in a chair. Thank you Nuffield.

Staff are great. There’s a huge variety of programmes and classes. Great the fact they have a lifeguard as many clubs don’t and I e witnessed near deaths in these clubs before now. Senior management at head office I believe are out of touch. Now I don’t know anyone in the club but I’m guessing staff are trying to hang on to jobs inc manager. I’m senior management myself and I can tell this is head office stuff No maintenance No jacuzzi it’s now boarded up (worst thing ever this club did) Old decor Old equipment Low staff morale Frequent break downs in showers heating and hot water Saunas out of action Inadequate cafe facilities Over subscribed classes. Inadequate maintenance Lack of cleaning staff Mould everywhere Dated broken changing rooms. Head office senior management. Fingers out improve facilities charge £15-20 a month per member more keep quality members bring back quality facilities like jacuzzi. Otherwise sell it off to someone who will make it a great club again with beauty treatments proper spa facilities etc. It’s currently like the council swimming baths Been a member 4 years it’s going downhill

Had an awful experience where a staff member shouted at me across the reception, before I was entering a class. I had signed in, changed, then went to put my clothes in the car and when returned was questioned about signing in. The staff member answered back in such a rude manner, when I had done nothing wrong. She then proceeded to shout at me! Gave me such anxiety about going back in that gym. I went into my class crying and have never been back. Appalling customer service. Facilities are dated and there are constant issues with the hot water.

A great Virgin gym. Adults only club so uninterrupted use of facilities. The machinery is modern, with television screens on each machine. Complimentary towels are provided on arrival. The pool is great and generally quiet due to no children. There have been times when it's just been myself and my fiancé in the pool. Great jacuzzi as well as sauna and steam room. Large tennis courts are available. There's a small Costa coffee which serves nice food but the selection is very small compared to other Virgin Actives. The class timetable is also extremely limited for those wanting to do a class after work

Best health club I have ever been to. I was recommended it by a work colleague. As soon as I was shown around by Luke I signed up straight away. Brilliant equipment and jaccuzzi spa pool. The pool is great as well as the indoor and outdoor lounging areas. All the staff are so warm and friendly and I am always left feeling like a valued member. Its always great to arrive to the big smiles and warm welcome of whoever is on reception. Classes are excellent and so too is the cafe area and the girls who work behind it. I am very happy with Nuffield health at Chiselhurst. If anything could be improved, in my opinion, is it could have better quality hair and body wash that works up a lather. Excellent club though and I happily recommended it to a friend who also took out membership as soon as she tried it.

We’ve been there with a visitor pass. The gym&spa is located in a very nice area surrounded by green little forest, easily approachable just off the A20. A clean and well organised venue. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We liked the facilities especially the cold water shower (not many spas have it in London - it’s great after a sauna session) and there is a very strong massage jet in the jacuzzi. Excellent experience ? five stars! ✅

I went on a guest pass, staff was friendly and plessent on reception and in the gym, great equipment and lovely sized pool which I am going to use next time. The only downside to this gym was the cafes food quality was very poor in my opinion on the day I went and for the prices paid i could of got a nice healthy meal deal at tesco and still had change.. The wrap I had was soggy and horrible and didn't taste very good. But overall a very good gym the equipment has USB ports to charge phone and you can also plug in earphones and watch TV on some of them so it's a great gym... If your unsure after reading this review head to their website and get a free day pass like I did to try the gym and pool for the day to see what you think x

Incompetent lot that will keep taking your money even after requesting 4 times to cancel the membership. They didn't take the money the month after I asked to cancel the membership but started again charging me the following month and been charging me since... Same gym as it was 10 years ago which has been rundown, all the facilities are old and very basic to today's equipment. Everything you use or touch falls apart. In the locker room a toilet is always broke, multiple showers not working, all the showers are dirty and mouldy, I used a water fountain and it fell off the wall. Out of 4 water fountains in the gym one is working with warm water. The gym has very basic equipment, a £20 month gym has better facilities. The gym staff when training leave equipment everywhere, great etiquette set.I joined back to this gym for the jacuzzi pool, which has been shutdown so they can save money and you dont, I was not told this when signing back up. Overall if you want your pants pull down for £100 month this is the gym you. I went in today for a swim, the pool was closed, a toilet broken, two sinks out of use 3 water fountains broke, no Aircon a cheap fan instead and a sauna. Joke of a club.

This place has slowly gone down hill, they have gotten some new staff who are friendly and still some bad ones the lady at the front I think her name is Tara is not helpful. I would say have a look at other gyms with better equipment and service.

he news of the membership fee increase comes as a disappointment. While I don't mind paying extra, it has to be questioned here as to what exactly we are paying for. Looking over the recent Google (and other) reviews regarding Nuffield Chislehurst gym, it would appear I am not the only member who is finding this club increasingly not worth the fee. The equipment is really, really outdated, facilities and equipment that break are either not repaired at all or repaired with a severe delay, making planning a work out quite a challenge when half the equipment works the other half does not. There was a flood there last weekend which meant no one could access the gym, no part refund was offered for this lack of service, not even a communication by email, I consider this very poor customer service for Nuffield. There are constant issues with hot water, or rather not having any. Saunas have been put out of use in the changing rooms, probably forever. My feedback on this increase in fee, is that this is not worth it, and if this decision is not reconsidered, I will be, amongst many others, cancelling this membership. This gym is in dire need of improvement in terms of both facilities and equipment, and to increase the fees after closing many facilities so that you can save money (such as the hydro bath) without passing this saving onto the customer has been noticed by many, the audacity to increase the fee despite this, is quite simply unbelievable. I will be looking to move to a better, well equipped gym, which is shame, all other Nuffield Gyms I have been to have been excellent, this gym would barely scrape a pass.

I have been a member of Nuffield Chislehurst for over 10 years. Over this period the gym has gone rapidly downhill. Most of the equipment is in a state of disrepair. Temporarily Out Of Order labels can stay on equipment for years. The changing rooms are shoddy with many lockers broken and showers are dingy and needing replacement. The staff, while mainly pleasant, are ineffectual and do nothing to resolve simple issues, such as tightening seats on bikes etc. I am struggling to give this gym a rating of 1 and have finally had enough and will not be returning!!!! Save your money, go somewhere else!!!
