Empty boxes for tissues / paper towels. This is modern Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Gym in Parrswood Didsbury.

I no longer attend this gym, but I am forced to pay the contract out. I stopped attending this gym due to the reception staff and have took out another membership. This is a cheap leisure centre with reception staff that are rude and only cater correctly to girls. It’s like they are emasculated by seeing another Male so they have to give you disgusting energy. If you would like to be greeted by hostility, ignorance and dirty looks every time you attend your local gym. Choose Nuffield health didsbury. Same guy being rude to you at reception will walk past you in the changing rooms and give dirty looks too. Very strange and scary environment.

The gym itself is nice but recent changes make my partner and I think is it really worth it. Firstly they shut jacuzzi down, then switched off the heating in the coldest months. Literally you can’t train there now unless wearing few layers. Even the staff are wearing scarves and big jumpers to keep themselves warm. Very disappointed, especially when Nuffield is a charity.

I have never been so disappointed with a gym before. This place doesn't even deserve a one-star rating. It's a complete waste of money. First of all, they constantly have issues with their facilities. The jacuzzi is always closed, and they even had the audacity to change the men's showers to family-friendly ones. Who wants to shower in a communal area with kids running around? And let's talk about their pricing. They charge an exorbitant amount of money and the services they offer are not even worth £20. I could get a better workout at home for free. On top of that, they keep changing the gym hours without any notice. I mean, seriously, since when do gyms have to close at 8 pm on weekends? Are they a supermarket now? People have jobs and they should be able to come at their convenience. The standard closing time on weekends should be at least 10 pm, and on weekdays, it should be 11 pm. Overall, this gym is a joke. It's like a cheap supermarket pretending to be a fitness center. Save your money and find a better gym that actually values its members.

I would give it less than one if it was an option. Staff are hugely rude. I had to leave my driving licence behind the desk to borrow a pad lock. They lost my ID without any apology or compensation. Pool is often closed without explanation. Gym is dirty in area's. Prices are ludicrous for what you get. Would not recommend to anyone at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Quite surprised with the service at this gym considering the price being paid for membership. Coldest time of the year, would've expected the gym to have good heating but it's too cold to workout. Cold showers! Definitely not worth the money. Don't join!

Excellent so far. Cafe reasona ly priced. Lots of good equipment. Down side locker area, it needs some one to actually check that that lockers are clean inside and tidy and also a bit more room to sit and change, place holdall or trolly bag but other than that all is ok

the receptionists are not helpful, useless, rude and ruin the feel of the gym by constantly flirting and messing about and lacking a professional attitude. A spanish man and blonde receptionist are always flirting and a ginger woman of abt 50 is very rude and unfriendly.

I have decided to change the review for this gym, having spoke to the GM in December I was promised changes in service and the gym this is why I didn’t join a local gym in the area and gave them a final chance. Sarah Heaton (GM) has turned the gym around and has also stuck to her words of new staff with better service who are more helpful and polite, just how a corporate/family gym should be, along with this the gym is also facing a transformation to generate with new fitness equipment for the future. Commendable to Sarah and her staff, well done on being a transparent gym!

Very rude and unhelful staff. One of the worst induction I ever had in a gym. Joined another gym whilst my membership was still current, much happier and eager to attend classes!

I only had a tour of the gym and its facilities, and was not allowed to try out the gym after traveling quite a distance for my tour. I got the impression that they wanted me to sign up then and there, which made me feel uncomfortable and pressured.

I used to be a member of Virgin active in 2016 in the site which is now Nuffield. I loved it and thought it was worth every penny. I have began attending Nuffield as I get a discount through work which just about makes it worth it. There is varied equipment and I can usually get a space in the weights area where I need to. The customer service in my experience is pretty flat. My welcome tour was unenthusiastic, but I signed up due to my discount. I got a free PT session which was helpful but I did feel like I pushed to get out of it what I needed and use the full allocated time. The plan she created for me has been really helpful. Shaneen's zumba class is excellent, very fun and high energy. I also enjoyed the yoga class I attended. I find the other gym goers to be mostly pleasant and unpretentious, so I feel comfortable on the gym floor. However I do think at the price that is being charged, the customer service needs some work. I've been a member of various gyms over the years, including one in Sydney which had incredible classes like aerial yoga, trapeze and ballet barre included as well as all the usual classes and equipment and great service. I don't think Nuffield Didsbury has anywhere near enough of an edge to have such complacent customer service.

The main reason for me joining this gym was to take advantage of the Creche facility so I can train whilst leaving my little boy there. I cannot fault the Creche, staff and nursery are lovely. Unfortunately my low star rating is based on the weight training area and the changing rooms. Everything is a bit tired, rundown, and the gym area specifically is often a mess (weights and equipment everywhere), and sometimes unclean and smells bad. For the premium price I'm paying to attend I'm disappointed and will start to look elsewhere for gyms with Creches.

Do not join this gym for yoga classes! Great teachers and lots of classes but the studio is next to cycle studio and weight area. When doing yoga all you can hear is the base from the gym and during certain classes the noise from the cycle studio next door. In steam room in ladies area, small titles fall from the ceiling. Such a shame, staff also don’t seem interested with feedback!

Very disappointed with this gym. As a member of the Preston gym I had to pay £7.50 to use this gym to find the spa is nowhere near as good as Preston's😲. No jacuzzi, no saunarium and the steam room was disgusting. How on earth this place is a tier above Preston I will never know. Definitely won't return to this hovel again🤢🤢

Good Gym, not the cheapest, then again it is in didsbury! I like the showers & changing rooms here along with steam & sauna rooms. I would like them to improve the jacuzzi, as this is real let down at this gym. It’s the most pathetic jacuzzi l have sat it, they really need to replace it, long over due, but don’t take any notice.

The gym facilities are below average at best (e.g three flat benches for ~5000 members!) and are virtually unusable at peak times due to the lack of equipment. Anyone serious in training should look elsewhere. Hygiene is also poor, they got rid of paper towels (available in most £20 per month gyms) for sweat etc citing environmental reasons. Someone should inform them that paper is both recyclable and biodegradable… Most of the staff are great but the gym is seriously understaffed and it’s not uncommon to find NO staff on the gym floor on Saturday afternoons and Sundays which raises health and safety concerns. What really lets this gym down though is the poor management of the PT service. For the price paid (~£80 per month membership and (£40+ for a PT session) the level of customer service is poor. I had to wait on average 7 days to hear back from my PT on booking sessions. I raised this with management but sadly got no response back. I feel that this gym really lets the Nuffield brand down and has been seriously let down by its current management. Their lack of response to all reviews posted speaks volumes.

Prices increasing (again!) and there’s certainly no improvement in the facilites. The turnstiles seem to be broken every other week, jacuzzi was removed, spin bikes very temperamental. Over priced, average gym.

There is always something wrong at this gym - leaking ceilings, the pool floor has been broken for months, the jacuzzi has been turned off and is now being filled in and there is always equipment missing or broken. They let children swim in the pool lanes used for lane swimming and don’t implement the evening times where the pool is meant to be adult only. The price of the membership has then increased for what reason I do not know. I then got stuck in the Nuffield health in town for 3 hours and the staff at this gym (my home gym) have promised to reply to me on over 4 occasions by phone and email and never replied even though they promise to. Any query you have will go unanswered by phone or email.

Good for kids and adults. Lots of space. TVs on machines is a bonus. Lots of classes available that can be booked online. Physio service available too. Lots of mixed age groups of all shapes and sizes so not too overwhelming for newcomers. Loads of locker space. Cafe reasonably priced. Family friendly and includes a creche for members' children. I haven't really managed to find the 'perfect' health club, and i have been to many, but this ticks many boxes. On-site, hassle-free parking which is free!

The gym equipment is up to date and well maintained. They have a swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was not working when I visited. The lockers in the changing room need a padlock, which you bring yourself. The cafe was lovely, and had a small play area for kids. Parking was free in the Parrs Wood centre car park.

Been a member of Nuffield for years now but the gym has really went down over the last year. Really disappointed to hear today that the Jacuzzi will be closing and we won’t be getting a price reduction on our membership. Will be looking to join another gym now as it’s sadly not worth the money.

Great gym. Has quite recently had a refurbishment so offers very modern kit. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and the combination of gym, aquatic and leisure (hot tub, sauna, seam room etc) amenities are excellent. It also has a cafe where you can get food and computers for general use.

This is a great gym. Bright and open with brilliant equipment, a great choice of classes and lovely pool. Most of the staff are attentive, friendly, helpful and polite. If you happen to run into any problems though, you'll find the centre disorganised and the staff sleeping, which makes things very inconvenient and stressful. Would definitely give 5 stars if the issues were resolved.

Has a gym floor with a heavy weights and free weights section, lots of cardio equipment and a variety of classes. Pool is 25m which is a good enough size to do lengths. It’s not huge and there could be more classes, but would recommend as one of the best on the area.

Gym used to be good but recently went downhill as they are making too many changes to save money, such as jaccuzi being closed at all times, half of the machines are switched off to save on energy bills, during the day there is no heating on so the gym and changing rooms are freezing cold, and shower temperature has gone down the water is only luke warm now. Disappointing for the price of the membership

I anticipate receiving the typical response, but I feel compelled to express my concerns. Despite the club's claim of being more family friendly, the pool consistently remains uncomfortably cold, causing my children to shiver and want to leave. I have also spoken to other parents who share the same sentiment. The club insists that the pool temperature is maintained between 27-29 degrees, but trust me when I say that it is far from enjoyable. It is disheartening that they refuse to increase the temperature due to financial reasons, as evidenced by numerous reviews highlighting their cost-cutting practices. They flat out refuse to listen and it’s just sad.

Due to injuring my knee in May, I have been receiving on-going physio for around 5/6 months at Nuffield Health and Matt has provided an excellent service. He was very knowledgeable about what the injury was and how best to approach the recovery, and there was always a science and reasoning for what we were doing. He gave me a structured workout to target areas of muscle weakness and later on brought in some balancing tasks to help give me the best outcome, and my knee has since made a full recovery and I am back out running 10kms again. Thanks very much for your patience and hard work Matt!

What I don’t understand is that there is a kids pool that seems to be constantly closed ! recent changes to the gym seem to have included better cleaning and overall upkeep which is good though . Waitlisting fir classes is ridiculous and I’ve given up trying . Still too expensive for what it is but it’s really convenient.

A good gym with friendly and motivational staff who are always on hand to help, even the personal trainers are usually found on the gym floor to offer tips for exercise on the fly. Good selection of classes, the facilities are good, but in need of updating, however the gym floor is getting a total make over starting this month, so this won't be an issue much longer. I'd recommend this gym 😁

So i've had two stints at this gym. The first time was in 2018 and it was really good, the staff were awesome and the gym was great. I cancelled my membership due to moving offices in work. I rejoined again this year as i was moved back to my original office. I am not sure whether there has been a management change or what but 80% of the staff are rude, arrogant and unapproachable. There's a chap called Alex who is horrendous. I would suggest he goes on a couple of courses on customer service. There are some good ones but the majority really need some training or to consider a career where they aren't dealing with customers. When i asked reception how to cancel my membership they just wrote an email address down, didn't ask me why I'm cancelling, nothing. i emailed on 07/07 and asked for them to confirm they have received my cancellation email, i heard nothing back. I emailed again on the 08/08. Again, i've heard nothing back. I've tried to call the gym multiple times and can't get through, nobody bothers to answer the phone, which isn't surprising with the level of customer service you get from this place. The equipment is fantastic and the gym is really clean. The pool area and spa facilities are also really good. Overall this could be a really good gym if they sorted their staff out and taught them how to provide a decent level of customer service. I've joined a gym half the price with much friendly staff. You actually get a hello when you walk in the door

Nuffield Health Didsbury Fitness and Wellbeing Centre is located at Unit 8, Parrs Wood Entertainment Centre, Wilmslow Rd. While exercising here, I made a lot of like-minded friends, encouraged each other to make progress together, and moved towards the common goal. The efficiency of slimming is getting higher and higher, and I feel very excited.

signed up three children, and they seem to enjoy the showers more than the freezing cold pool. The staff claims to monitor it regularly, but I have my doubts. It's quite chilly, and they refuse to increase the temperature due to the cost. If you ask any gym member, they will confirm this.

As a member in preston I thought I would try didsbury gym. Its a tier above ours so had to pay £7.50. What a disappointment, steam rooms are in changing rooms with no steam, where I could find no single changing areas and all bunched up getting changed together like school. There is no jacuzzi and the sauna is in the pool area with no hooks for towels no ice bucket or cold shower. Definitely not above prestons gym.

I enjoy having both the gym and the cafe here. Sanaz, the lady at the cafe, is incredibly friendly, and her coffee is absolutely delightful. I highly recommend it!

Had Physio here for my sprained ankle, which was excellent. Made a lot of progress in just a few sessions.

No matter what time...
