This restaurant was very good. My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. We have tried from Burmese food once in San Francisco and it was hard for us to find a place in Boston or near Boston that served Burmese food. So when we found this place we were really happy and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the tea salad which is quite a popular Burmese dish. It was exactly as I remembered. The vegetables were fresh and there was a variety of toppings. My husband ordered a dish called the Shang noodles and he said it was delicious. The servings were generous and everything came out at a reasonable paste. Also I tried their yogurt drink which was so amazing. The prices were very good and we were very satisfied with the service. The restaurant atmosphere was nice and cozy and it was very clean. I highly recommend this restaurant.

They are rather over priced for what they offer. Taste is mediocre too. They try to put in effort, but somehow doesn't translate, very mom-pop, needs better business acumen. The heavy student population of the area probably keeps them up, else would have been hard to survive. I still believe it has potential, but needs to seriously revive. At least quality and portions can improve...of the topping meat or shrimp, especially for the price.

Four pages of vegan food?!?! Is this real life?! Why yes it is! And it was delicious!! The tea leaf salad was spectacular. My parents were so confused by how tasty it was. I loved the use of tomato in the dishes. The veggies were all super fresh. The okra was crisp and not slimy. The samosa and pakora with onion soup was such a good combo. Everythjng was good that I ordered more to take home with me. You gotta check this place out! I really appreciate that the vegan options were not a sad after thought. Thank you!

We got a Cream cheese wonton puff - they are little droplets of heaven, I could eat them daily, and Parata with Shaw Myanmar coconut chicken curry W/ potatoes for appetizers, OMG the taste would just stay in your memory and makes your glands watery imagining it, I didn't expect that to be that delicious. For main course we had House curry noodles which is amazing, it has a mix of masalas and spices aptly savoring the tastebuds and melting in mouths, I'm from India and any dishes with little resemblance easily gets my heart. We asked the owner to pick a dish for us, authentic Myanmar Chicken Noodles Salad (Nan Pyar Thoke or Nan Gyi Thoke) he also mixed the salad for me, so sweet of him. With such delicious food and amicable nature, this place only wants me to go back and try the many other varieties of food. I got to try Iced milk tea sometime and also the other salads. This place also has cool pictures hung, the ambiance was great.

We went there because of the extensive Vegan menu. The Pork Garlic Noodle dish #14 was served luke warm, bland tasting and unremarkable. The vegan items as well were unremarkable. We will not return. Flatware, paper napkin and paper plates at a sit down restaurant? Sticky table, gross looking condiment jar...

I’m visiting friends in Livermore. I’m excited that they took me here for lunch. The menu was extensive. We tried the curry lamb and some salads. Wow the EGGPLANT was memorable! The very cordial waiter adjusted the spicy quotient of our dishes! Very vegetarian/ vegan friendly food. It was a wonderful experience and I heartily recommend Shwe Myanmar!

A most wonderful surprise. Tea leaf salad was a delight, with many seeds and nuts all spiced to perfection The Garlic noodle with chicken was excellent. The Okra -potato Egg curry was a true experience, well seasoned and texture was fantastic. Iced milk tea was flavorful. I would highly recommend this establishment

Service was friendly. Prices and portions were decent. The menu is the same for lunch or dinner. It's a fantastic option for vegans (and therefore vegetarians or plant based folks as well). The Rainbow Salad and the Garlic Noodles were delicious (well at least my omnivore partner enjoyed the pork garlic noodles enough to make joyful food noises). The parata with the split peas dish and the kidney bean fritters dish weren't the most flavorful options. They both tasted freshly made. There was a crisp on the outside of the fritters that was nice, but even with the dipping sauce they were a bit on the bland and dry side. Very healthy tasting. The parata was slightly burned, but the split pea curry was flavorful. Overall we wouldn't get these two dishes again. But we would go back and try other dishes and we would get their garlic noodles and Rainbow Salad dishes again.

Burmese restaurants are very hard to find. Great ones even more so. Burmese cuisine is unique. Somewhere between Thai and Indian, but that description leaves much out. Try the tea salad it's perhaps the best and most unique tasting salad anywhere. The ginger salad is also awesome. Definitely get some Plata bread and definitely the potato and chicken curry!

My first time trying Burmese food. I highly recommend it. The mango salad, and ginger salads were amazing. My host, ordered a noodle dish that had several types of different noodles and a variety of vegetables. Very tasty. I was quite impressed. I will go back someday when I visit to Boston.

Food is delicious. Must order tea salad, it was good. But I had better one in MA with half of their price, definitely over priced. Around $100 for 2 people. They are always busy, we waited for over 30 minutes on a week day dinner.

The tea leaf salad, samosas, and pork belly were all amazing! I suggest getting one of their lunch specials because it gives you a taste of the tea leaf salad and a curry. My plan is to force a group to go there with me for dinner so we can eat family style and I can try many different items.

Awesome environment, great food and awesome service. I recommend going on a Tuesday or Wednesday night so the traffic is low. Owner Kevin, pictured below, provided great service and recommendations. Their Tea Leaf Salad and Samosa & pakora soup was good too. The soup can use extra spice for my taste. The place is somewhat expensive with soups and salads at $12.

We came for Tuesday lunch. Nice decor on the wall and nice ambience. Not too dark, not too bright. Almost fully occupied. We ordered pig ears salad, fried pork rice vermicelli, crispy mushroom fried and pork mango pickle. It does not take long for the dishes. All are very delicious and reasonable price. Service is good and attentive. I ordered tamarind juice and pretty good. Highly recommended.

first time here for lunch with my daughter, wasn’t sure what to order so we chanced it with Tea Leaf Salad - freshly assembled, very good flavor. chicken lettuce wraps - wonderfully flavorful dish. and a small chicken curry appetizer that was very tasty but not too curry strong. Will be going back here soon! Unfortunately, I was too busy enjoying the good food to take a photo! Nice presentation though.

What an experience. My taste buds haven’t been this surprised in a while... My recommendation : the Pumpkin Curry, you’ve never tasted pumpkin like this... with a side of Anchovies Balachaung, a spicy crispy mixture of anchovies, onions and garlic. Thank you for this moment Yoma.

I found this place a little underwhelming, I went with 3 other people and we ordered just about everything recommended on the menu. Nothing tasted bad per se, but I found everything lacking some flavor. The service and atmosphere were fine, it was a comfortable place to dine on a cold night. When we went, they were byob, which is always a plus, but they do charge a tiny corkage.

I've always walked by this place and decided to take my mom in for an early dinner. We ordered the seaweed salad, coconut rice, and pork meeshay. The service was incredibly slow. It took about 30 minutes to serve the salad, another 5 for the coconut rice, and 5 more for the pork meeshay. It was kind of bizarre they didn't serve all 3 items together and within 15-20 mins. The restaurant wasn't packed, but I did notice an older woman coming out of the kitchen on the phone after about 20 minutes. Just speculating, but maybe taking delivery orders instead of cooking our meal? The coconut rice didn't taste of coconut whatsoever, and the bowl it came in was very hot which leads to me believe, they just put rice and water in a bowl and microwaved it. The noodles were very bland, but maybe that's just how they are. I am not going back there and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you are just going for tea. My burmese yogurt drink wasn't half bad.

I had the appetizer platter and the #10 chicken soup thing. Honestly I have never had Burmese cuisine but it was delightful and just what I was looking for. The wait staff was super helpful and very knowledgeable in steering me towards items that were favored on their menu. I would have taken photos but when I start eating a good meal I don't stop.

I've been here twice and plan on continuing to return. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. They've opened for indoor seating and they make sure to keep ample space between customers. They also have a bathroom that's open to customers. As far as food goes, I 1000% recommend the tea leaf salad. It is delicious!! You cant go wrong with any of the main dishes on the menu. We got an order of samosas, chicken curry soup and a noodles plate (cant remember the name). Try it asap!!

  • 3/5 Andrew S. 1 year ago on Google
Not much to say was memorable. The coconut curry chicken soup was bland. Pork belly was chewy and lacked that certain deliciousness you come to expect elsewhere. The litmus test, the tea leaf salad was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Overall I’d unfortunately suggest other nearby options for the money.

  • 1/5 A J. 1 year ago on Google
Was looking forward to this place as they have 3 pages of vegan offerings and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. What a let down. From the dirty glasses to the under cooked dumplings to the soggy rice and spoilt wine, the quality didn't equal the cost.

  • 3/5 Lucy V. 1 year ago on Google
Noodle plates were amazing. Everything else was over salted. I hate to give out bad reviews or be a Karen about it. Service was slow and it’s not first come first serve. They expect at least 15% tip. If you’re up for trying new noodle plate and have patience to wait at least 30 mins, go for it.

  • 5/5 Wesley R. 8 months ago on Google
Interior and seating is nice and comfy. Looks like a hole in the wall outside, but is nicer on the inside. This is somewhere casual you go with friends or family. Menu is extensive, and some pictures could be better, but the same theme applies in that the food itself also is nicer. Portions are generous. We ordered four dishes, and each one is worthy of repeat. Definitely try the tea salad or the fried oysters as appetizer. The eggplant curry 103 was very good, as was the beef biryani w/ fried rice. Nothing was too salty or greasy.

  • 5/5 Rajeev S. 10 months ago on Google
Great restaurant, food and service. We went there as a huge family group of about 15, and they accommodated us on one side of the restaurant, took our orders and served the food promptly. The food was delicious, with a fantastically long Vegan menu (there's a full separate appetizer page, and two more pages of entrees). This was our first time eating Burmese: the food seems to resemble Indian food on the one hand, Thai food on the other, with some unique blend of its own added in. It's not a big restaurant: it's basically a single medium sized hall with tables for four fairly closely packed (and a single bathroom). The decor was clean but like the standard issue Chinese restaurant in the US.

  • 4/5 Leticia S. 9 months ago on Google
Imperial Sesame chicken, Coconut Chicken with Potatoes and the Coconut Rice were delicious. Samosas were good but the some of the Samosas were cold on the inside like they weren't completely cooked all the way through.

My first visit to Shwe Myanmar was by accident - I thought I was going to Bua Thai Kitchen [which was the best Thai restaurant in the Livermore :( ], but they had closed down. Being too lazy to walk through the complex to either Viet Noms (very good) or Canton Village (pretty good), I gave them a shot. I'm glad I did, because they're food is solidly yummy. I've since returned a few more times, pre-pandemic. The items I've ordered in the past include pad thai, spicy eggplant, and garlic noodles. I honestly do not have a strong enough palette, so it's difficult for me to distinguish between Burmese and Thai food - but the bottom line is Shwe Myanmar's food is incredibly flavorful and delicious. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very pleasant.

After a tour of Burma (aka Myanmar) a few years ago we found a Burmese restaurant in SF that we dined at a few times. We seldom eat out in the tri-valley area but then we saw this restaurant while shopping, we picked up a take-out menu and put this on our list to try.  Now with Shelter-in-Place we wanted to support our local restaurants. After getting a few recommendations from the hostess we ordered 4 dishes - appetizer salad, noodles, fried rice and main disk. Ample portions for the 2 of us, so leftovers. The spicy dishes (we asked all to be spicy) was not too spicy and all were very tasty. We will definitely continue to support and patronize this fine restaurant.

This is a different take on Burmese food than I've had, including distinctive touches such as house-made chickpea tofu. It seems mostly like Thai, including a fish-ball curry with rice noodles. Very attentive service, I hope to come back to try the "rainbow salad".

NOT a tea salad! A salad? Yes. The most basic of house salads with a few extras - iceberg lettuce (Is this restaurant quality??? Suited to a $15 dish??? I think Not...), tomatoes, corn, a handful of cabbage shreds, 3 slices of jalapeno, a lime wedge, CANNED corn (or frozen, as it seemed too "gummy" to be fresh) and 2 types of dried beans with sunflowee seed sprinkles. NOT like the picture! No tea leaves. No filling, tasty salad. No mound of Plump beans. And in Their false advertising pic, the iceberg that overwhelms the salad isn't even visible! Just lettuce & tomato, the kind I pick off a cheap sandwich. This is a NO for me. Way too pricey for the product offered.

New favorite in the Tri-valley. We've been 4 times now. Service is excellent!! No joke. Respectful, polite, and helpful. They really care and want you to enjoy the great food. Good Service at restaurants is disappearing. I for one, really enjoy a restaurant that makes me feel at ease and as if I'm in good hands. It's here. We've had the Samosas, The eggplant, the Paratha, the spicy garlic salmon, the bean salad Pad Thai noodles and a few other dishes. All very tasty, and large portions. The crispy tofu is made with split pea.and is superb! Spicy is up to you. Mild is just that, mild But even the "SPICY" is cooked so that it is well integrated into the dish so there is an even flavor. Prices are right too. Please do the right thing for your good food itch and scratch it here.
