We were there once before today a couple of weeks back and had a really nice meal. Today, however, the food was not good and very over-priced for what we received. Also, two of the dishes were not as described on the menu! One of the dishes was a combination starter that was described as having samosas and tofu tots and what we received, for $34 which is such a rip off was basically a platter of miniature puff pastries with only 3 of them with any filling. They are all tiny pieces to boot. 1/2 cup of French fries was also on the plate with 3 small containers of sauces two of which resembled hot sauce. How can they charge $34 for this? I didn't even realize the cost until my family member showed me the receipt as we were walking to the car - that's when I decided to review because we felt very ripped off. I actually called the restaurant afterward because I thought there had been a mistake on the $34 charge for the platter and the woman who I spoke to said she was a server and not in control of pricing and if I had a concern I would need to email top Burmese “support,” which I did and haven’t heard one word back. The woman said “they’re air fried!”Okay…Anyway, we’re feeding the remainder of the mini empty all carb puff pastry platter to the birds. I’ve ordered samosa platters at other restaurants for $9-$11 and actually received delightful, substantial and delicious starters. They should be ashamed serving this and charging such an outlandish price. Probably the biggest rip off I’ve ever experienced in my long history of restaurant dining all over the planet. For my entree, I ordered a curry chicken noodle which had absolutely no chicken in it. My family member had an eggplant dish with coconut rice, she usually loves anything with eggplant and she said it was 'tasteless and bland.' The only thing that was decent this time was the tea leaf salad, although that tasted bitter and I would not recommend it. Another disappointment was getting their dessert cake to go, they did not include the whip cream and the serving size was literally half what I received on my last visit. A very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. This restaurant lacks quality control and over-charges. I am thoroughly disappointed. See my itemized receipt below.

Best food I had during my week long trip to Portland and Seattle - not expected! First Burmese experience, according to my friend this is more of a fusion not exactly wholly authentic... but very tasty nonetheless!! Tofu tots are ok kind of basic. Tofu noodle salad was probably my favorite, reminded me of my spaghetti with tomato sauce, which isn't a bad thing for a pasta lover like me. Coconut curry with chicken was a dream, never had a curry with so much coconut flavor, so good!!! Burmese lemonade was yummy. Food was pretty quick, simple no frills place with bomb food.

Thinking I would have a great meal as an Asian having Asian food, but I felt it was a torture. The beef curry was hard to chew and too salty. Even the cucumber side dish, I ate small rock salt.. The mango juice taste like that it came from a bottled juice. The young waitress seemed more interested in talking or texting to someone on the phone. Maybe, I was just unlucky.

Vegan friendly and delicious! I am vegan and I came with two non-vegan friends for lunch, we ended up all ordering vegan dishes and we all enjoyed it. I had a coconut milk noodle with tofu, which is tasty and creamy. My friends also liked their curries. p.s. Coconut water feels just right for summer. At the moment for outdoor seatings, there are a few small tables outside in the parklet.

Oh man, stumbled upon this very cute hole in the wall and so glad we did. Not very familiar with Burmese food and we were food hopping so just got the jasmine tea, a samosa, chickpea tofu salad and the chicken curry. Despite being cold and hesitant about the salad, the flavor was phenomenal. Loved the texture and bright flavors and the chickpea tofu were well to balance it out. Best surprise dish we had there. Samosa was oily and ok but the chicken was so tender, fall apart moist, and flavor was phenomenal. Loved the texture of the rice to go with it and it was a fun add that our food was delivered by their robot server! Would absolutely return.

One time try, place was a bit tiny. We went for our Monthiversary there today 1. Golden samosas - The layers are very thin and very crispy. 2. We have tried their new Rainbow 🌈 salad with red rice and rice noodles. It was great and dressing is very tasty. 3. Black grass jelly drink- The flavor reminds me of Indian beverage: Sugandh/ Nannari - Nostalgia ☺️ Overall , it’s good to try once.

Really enjoyed our meal over at Top Burmese. It has great local charm and a quaint feel. Pro tip! Sit inside if you want to be served by their adorable robot waiter. We did not expect this coming inside but we’re pleasantly surprised. Food was flavorful and delicious. I went with the Khao San which was oozing with spices and noodles. Partner got the eggplant curry which she also really enjoyed. Samosas we’re also a great starter. Overall a simple and cute date night spot!

We got samosas, curry noodles and samosas soup. It was delicious! The robot brought us our food. 😀 The drinks were so good! Excellent service. Gave us a lot of heartburn but it was very tasty.

The food is absolutely scrumptious! Would highly recommend trying this place out. We chose outdoor seating since the weather was very nice. The samosas were tasty, paratha dip was innovative and the main dishes were really tasty and wonderfully presented. There was a 30 minute wait time on a Saturday evening when we went. Also, the parking could get tricky since the street parking was very full on the day we went which coincided with game night. 10/10 would recommend.

After informing the owner about an issue with a Postmates delivery and my food being stolen and informing her about friends and stories on Facebook regarding postmates and being told she has had issues with items being missing from the delivery she was thankful for letting me know. The restaurant is going above and beyond to make my husband and I happy and keep us as a valued customer. The manger is remaking our order and delivering it herself so we have something for dinner. Thank you Poe and Calvin Myit sorry if I spelled your last name incorrectly but I’ll definitely let people know what and incredible restaurant you all are.

Fantastic experience at Top Burmese! Husband and I decided last minute to head out for dinner instead for a break from quarantine cooking and decided to try Burmese cuisine for first time. Could not have had a better experience than here at Top Burmese. Service was prompt, friendly, and safe. Food arrived timely and was excellent! I had the Samusa Thoke soup while my husband had the Khao Soi soup and we finished with some avocado ice cream. Portland has fantastic vegan options and Top Burmese definitely fits into that category!

I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. The food was good. The service not the best. I would recommend to not order the Samosa as they were very oily. The Tea leaf salad was refreshing and delicious as well as the Falooda. They have a robot who serves food. If they improve their service they will receive a better rating. Update: On owner's request elaborating on the service part. We visited on 01/29/22 evening. After we finished our meals the tables weren't cleared when we ordered deserts. We had to pile them all together and make space for ourselves. By this time it had slowed down and there weren't many customers too.

Not a whole lot of Burmese options so it was a pleasant surprise to stumble across Top Burmese. Tea leaf salad and eggplant curry were both great. Shan noodle sauce was a tad over seasoned. Staff was super friendly

Made a day trip to Portland and glad I came across this spot. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the robot waiter. That was a new experience. The food was great. The Samosas, the tots, and the main dishes were delicious. The drinks were excellent as well.

My family and I went to this Burmese place with no standard because we had never tried Burmese food. Let me just say it was excellent. The samosas were the best samosas’ I have ever had. I also had a beef curry served with jasmine rice and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s worth trying for your first time having Burmese food or if your looking for a good place to try

Ive never tried Burmese food before, but thought....heck why not!! Glad I did! I got the chicken curry with naan. It's similar to Indian cuisine but definitely with some different spices thrown in! Quite delicious! The wait staff were super friendly and they even have a robot that serves you your food(I'm not even kidding)!

I first tried Burmese food in San Francisco and loved it. When I moved to Portland, I was happy to find this cute Burmese restaurant near me! I have eaten here multiple times; the rainbow salad is incredible and the coconut chicken soup is my go to for rainy Portland days. Not to mention, everyone working at Top Burmese is so kind, and willing to go above & beyond!

The place has a comfortable positive atmosphere. It is small and cozy. The server was sweet and positive. I ordered the tofu curry w/coconut rice. The rice is decent in flavor taste, though however, the texture felt on the dry side. As if it was a day or two old. The tofu curry was good in flavor overall. The tofu traingle was well done though the sauce was a bit water. Typically curry sauce is much thicker. They did offer a complimentary jasmine green tea, which was a good basic tea. What I did not like about this restaurant was the portion sizes compared to the cost. This one dish cost me $22 plus tip. For a small dish that isn't enriched exotic flavors and for the size isn't worth the cost. This dish flavor is your typical tofu curry dish you can get in many places for large portion size and cheaper price.

The chicken curry was incredible. The fish curry was also delicious-- reminds me of Cambodian khmer noodles. The Chinese noodles are a bit oily but everything else tastes light and fresh. 3 plates were perfect to share with 3 to 4 people. Delicious cocktails & soju also. Great service-- they joked with us made good recommendations. Will definitely return.

This is a great little quiet spot for dinner with a cozy vibe and unique decor. The tables are painted with different designs and the food is unlike anything I have had. Unsurprisingly the food is somewhere between Indian and Thai food. Dietary guides are clearly marked on the menu, including vegan and vegetarian. The samosas are familiar Indian-like fair. The fresh salads somewhat like Thai or Nepalese food. The curries are hearty and savory, more like a Japanese curry instead of sweet Thai curry or spicy Indian curry. The kabocha curry is a delicious vegan choice. The noodle soup is like Tom Yum Nam Khon. All flavorful and worth the price. My favorite part were the drinks. The Brumese tea with coconut milk really hit the spot on a cold rainy day. The Burmese lemonade had a depth of flavor to it, with some pleasant slushy shaved ice. The Burma Pearl was refreshing for an alcoholic drink. Not strong at all and pleasantly sweet and sour. Dining inside is small, so not good on busy days. They have a very cute robot that helps with orders! Quick service no complaints. Highly recommended for mixed company of vegetarians, omnivores and vegans alike. **beware there is a step down into the restaurant, if you have a wheelchair this will make the inside functionally inaccessible** edit: the business says there is a secondary entrance which is level and accessible. I did not see this during my visit.

Amazing food and great service. If you like spicy get the shoo share tea leaf salad 🤤. Also highly recommend the beef curry with coconut rice.

Been here twice now for take-out (once on Postmates and once pick-up) and their Coconut Noodle Soup w/Tofu and Burmese Gold Samosas (both vegan, even though I am not) are to DIE FOR. You must get these. (They give you the broth & noodles separately to keep it fresh, excuse my messy mixed photo - I was too excited to eat it right away.)

Great food. Friendly & warm staff. Just the beef could be served a little more well cooked and softer. But overall, highly recommended.

Place was really cute and a nice menu. We got two things. The pa la ta which is a beef stew was over cooked. Stews are hard to get just right but this was very dry. Chicken salad dish was better. Also service was slow

Tea leaf salad was bitter and disappointing. Samosas just ok. But the coconut curry soup is quite tasty, as was the mango beer. Quaint surroundings and quick service. Dec 2020:. Ordered two curries online for pickup. No Curry flavor in my or fellow diner's dishes. Rating changed to 2 stars.

There were good options for vegans and non-vegans. They have outdoor seating and inside was cozy and nice too. If you get take out and need utensils, remember to ask. They are not added automatically. One of the four in our group really liked the curry. Mine was spicy hot but without other flavor. The other two people were so-so about their choices. It looked like other people were getting the salads and soups. I will probably go back to try those dishes but will not get a curry again.
