No trip to SF is complete without Burmese food and this place was awesome. The appetizers are the highlight here, the samosa soup and tea leaf salad are delicious. For entrees, we liked the minced chicken but would skip the garlic noodles. Lastly, the mango lassi might’ve been the best lassi I’ve had in a while!

Great experience. Delicious authentic Burmese food. I grew up eating Burmese food and this really hit the spot. Great cocktails too. The Mohinga was exceptional. They customized it for me, the way i like it. They provided special hot peppers and other ingredients. Kyaw, the server was excellent The black rice dessert was, OMG, unbelievable. Casual, great fun environment. I will definitely go back. My only problem - I ate too much.

Blown away by the experience! I loved everything about it: the ambience, the friendly service, and most important of all, the food. The servers were attentive to our needs, friendly; and quick. A huge difference from other restaurants like Flour and Water and Nopa, where it’s also crammed, so the service was always slow. The food was delicious. Everything had a unique touch to it. I got the tea tree salad, chilli beef, samosas, and curry noodles. They were all rich in flavor and cooked just right. I never tasted salad so good before. Highly recommend if you’ve never been!

    - highly recommend the tea leaf salad!! i get this every time we go and the combination of textures and flavors from all the ingredients - the minced chicken was decent, probably would not get again but was still pretty good - i thought that the garlic noodles would have more flavor, the sauce was a little too thin for me but still a great dish - the platha dessert was so yummy! the platha was flaky and warm which paired well with the ice cream

Love this Bruma food :) You should try Tea Leaf Salad, Pork Curry, Chicken Curry etc...and of course friendly staff! I’ve visited 3 times here and every time I enjoyed the meal!

The service is very friendly and fast, as well as attentive. We tried the Laphet salad (tea leaf salad) as an appetizer and ate the lamb curry as a main dish, with coconut rice. Absolutely delicious!! We both had a the ginger lemon tea to go along with it- has a strong ginger flavor so expect a kick (:

I’ve had Burmese food before but this was my first time at Burma Love. We don’t have many options for Burmese down in Orange County, CA. This was my friend’s first time trying Burmese food so needless to say we were both excited. We chatted with some guests who had been here before and they raved about it. The hostess also said everything was good. The server said nothing is a miss. With so much hype, I honestly didn’t believe it. BUT… LET, ME, TELL, YOU..all three dishes we ordered were SO good! The tea leaf salad was flavorful and refreshing. The string beans (my favorite dish) were perfectly cooked with so much flavor. It had a little heat, a little sweetness, a little savory..and a whole lot of deliciousness. The coconut chicken curry (my friend’s favorite dish) was so comforting. This is now on my SF must eat list for myself and for friends and family.

I can't tell if I was just hungry, or this food was amazing, because it tasted amazing. I ordered through DoorDash late one night, and delivery was quick and neatly packed. The Coconut rice was spectacular. I've ordered coconut rice from other places before, but can't recall anything about it aside from being nonplussed. Not the case here. If anything, there was too little, next time I'm getting triple the amount. Next up, I love shrimp, eggplants and especially garlic, so I got the Shrimp and Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, and hoped for the best. (It's amazing how many places manage to botch these 3 yummy ingredients.) Not the case here. I was not disappointed. The Shrimp and eggplant were fresh and it had just the right amount of sauce. The food was a little pricey, but, it's SF and more importantly, you get what you pay for, and this place was well worth it. I can't wait to explore the rest of their menu. It's weird, when I was figuring out where to order from, I came across a one line review, which helped me decide. I looked but couldn't find it, so I'll just write what I remember it said here: "STOP LOOKING and order from here! You won't be disappointed."

Had a great time at Burma Love. Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable, and the food was great. The Fiery Vegetables had crisp vegetables, firm tofu, and tender chicken. The Garlic Noodles were garlicky and toothsome, with peanuts, zucchini, and tofu. Lastly, the Shrimp Chutney was rich and savory, with bold seafood flavors and an excellent spice. The coconut rice is a definite upgrade, with a sweetness that perfectly contrasted the savory dishes. Ask for a side of Thai chilis, which are minced and lightly acidic, and outrageously spicy. Overall a great dining experience and I will be back as soon as possible.

Lovely spot for Burmese food. We ordered a bunch of different meals to be shared with our group, but a few favorites of mine were the tea leaf salad and the platha & dip. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. A great experience overall.

Incredibly flavourful dishes and great service. Laphet (tea leaf salad) had wonderful flavors and texture with the fermented tea leaf sauce; Ohn no khao swe (coconut curry chicken noodles soup) is comforting, rich, yet not heavy; the Burmese pork curry just melts in your mouth; and ching mong (Burmese roselle or sour leaves stir fried with shrimp, chilis, bamboo shoots) was something you don’t find often and goes great w coconut rice! Lovely and attentive service. It was a busy Thursday night that I went so the dining room was a bit loud. But the food was unmistakably good. It was slightly pricier but I’ve tried making Burmese food and the level of execution, quality of ingredients used here, and the labor needed for some of the ingredients (fermenting tea leaves, crisp frying garlic slices), plus the fact that this is in a pricey city like SF, it isn’t too bad.

Came here for my friend's birthday celebration! He told us it was gonna be a "small intimate dinner thing" but 18 people endedup showing up LOL The Parking: maybe its because it was a Friday night or maybe its just because im not from SF. But i honestly spent 40 mins looking for parking 😅 ended up parking 10 mins away and ubering over with my friends. The Wait: The wait to be seated from the time the first couple people from our group arrived to when we got seated about 40 ish mins? Its understandable as we have a whole 18 ppl in our party haha The Service: Kwya (i think thats how you spell his name) was our main server and he gave excellent service from the beginning to the end! Very attentive and did his best to make sure we had a great experience! The Food: Between 18 people, we ordered a significant amount of dishes. I wasn't able to keep track of who got what but I snapped pictures of a couple. I got the Burma Chicken Curry and the people beside me got Catfish and the salad (i think it wad the tea leaf one)! I don't have a chef's tongue, but everything tasted amazing! No complaints from me! Overall: The service and the food were great, the only downside would be that due to the layout of our table (several 2-person tables placed side by side to form a long table), we weren't really able to converse with anyone besides the people sitting right next to us. I recommend coming here with a smaller party next time :)

This was the first time going to this location, I’ve been to the one in Oakland a bunch of times. Both are absolutely amazing and a must try if you’re in the area. The flavors or something that you will try nowhere else. An absolute treat!! Thank you Chef!!

An outstanding Burmese restaurant with fantastic flavors in Valencia. We ordered sesame tofu, vegetarian samusa soup and superstar vegetarian fried rice and liked all of them. If I can eat only one item in this restaurant that would be the samusa soup. It was the best soup I’ve had in recent times.

One of, if not the best entrees I've ever had in my life was the Pork Belly with Mustard Greens and coconut rice from Burma Love. The Burma Superstar cocktail was also extremely good. The entree was spicy and tangy and sweet with amazing texture and taste. The bartender recommended it and I know why. Simply amazing!

A-MA-ZING! All dishes at Burma Love are absolutely delicious! The Tea leaf salad is definitely a must (I come back just for the best salad that I've ever had in my entire life and the main reason I recommend this place to all my friends again and again). The Skillet Prawns, the Chicken with Mint, and the Lamb curry are all so enjoyable. Cocktails are great! I Really enjoyed the Burma Superstar. And last but not least, the Platha Dessert, just made me smile, I started laughing with joy! This is why every time I come to San Francisco, I come back to Burma Love. An absolute 10!

Incredible place. We tried a wide variety of the menu and not a single bite was disappointing. Their cocktails were incredible to start - lot of standards with unique twists added in. The tea leaf salad was brand new to me and I would say it's a must-have, the flavor combination and textures are perfect. My favorite menu item was probably the Fiery Beef with tofu. It wasn't nearly as spicy as I was expecting, it was just right.

I recently tried the weekday lunch special at the Burmese restaurant atop the Mission neighborhood. The meal included soup, salad, and black rice pudding for dessert. Here's my brief review: The tea leaf salad was a bit disappointing, lacking the flavor punch I had hoped for. However, the soup was absolutely phenomenal, bursting with rich and complex flavors. To wrap up, the black rice pudding for dessert was a sweet delight. While the tea leaf salad didn't quite hit the mark, the remarkable soup and delightful dessert made the visit worthwhile. Consider exploring other menu options for a potentially even better experience.

We went to Burma Love - Mission for Diwali dinner. It is a newer counterpart to the well-known Burma Superstar. I’d highly recommend using the Yelp waitlist feature to easily snag a spot. Ambiance: 4/5 It’s more spacious than your average SF restaurant and has a separate bar area. The vibe is lively with a warm, modern feel. Service: 5/5 Our server, Zin, was all smiles and super nice. It was busy, but she kept up. Food: 3/5 • Vegetarian Samosa Soup: 4/5 – A good start to the meal. • Roti Platha & vegetarian curry sauce: 3/5 – The Roti was good, but the sauce was too watery for my taste. • Garlic Noodles (requested with rice noodles instead of egg noodles): 2/5 – They were missing that garlic punch; ended up pretty bland, even with the side sauce. • Eggplant Curry: 4/5 – This dish was a hit, packed with nice flavors. • Coconut Rice: 4/5 – Complemented the curry well. Heads-up: They add on a 5% employee wellness fee to the bill. Overall, it’s good for a casual group dinner, with decent vegetarian options.

My first time experiencing Burmese food and I was quite impressed! The customer service was impeccable and I have never received food so quickly! The platha & dip was a personal favorite of mine, flaky roti with a rich curry. The tea leaf salad is a must, fresh flavors with multiple textures that work perfectly. We also tried the Nan Pia Dok which was a great noodle option. We tried the Burmese curry which paired perfectly with the fragrant and tropical coconut rice. Last but not least, the eggplant garlic sauce is a dish you don’t want to miss. The sauce is so well balanced and elevates the eggplant. You can also enjoy yourself with some coconut water from a coconut. This restaurant is a great rendition of Burmese food!

Platha and dip and shan noodles, you're welcome. Tea leaf salad is overrated, too salty. It is pricey though at like $15 a dish.

Really good, but also a bit hyped in San Francisco right now. Worth a visit, but I wouldn't trust others when they say it's the best restaurant in the city.

  • 3/5 Ryan W. 4 years ago on Google
Tasty food. Very confusing trying to get a table. The delivery app drivers use the same space to pick up deliveries as patrons. And there doesn’t seem to be any order to the process. So, elbow your way to the front to get a table. Though, the rest of the experience seems just as disorganized. I would say 2 stars for experience and 4 for food. So that makes a good solid 3 stars in my opinion. Which is disappointing, as I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while.

Pricey menu even for lunch. But far worst, any place that has a giant size portrait of a so called leader responsible for the Rohingya genocide is to be avoided. It means they support her actions. Walked in and out.

Shan noodles with chicken, and deep fried whole fish were delicious. Would order again. The deep fried battered chicken chunks and tofu not so much. We appreciate that each dish came with separate serving utensils, that isn't always the case at Asian eateries. So if you are sharing with friends and dread the accidental double dip, fear not. Shan noodles were mixed for us table side, and lemon squeezed for us. It was a great punchy mix of bright bold flavors. The pickled greens were funky and pungent, when mixed up with the fresh greens, lemon juice, etc. It all comes together. The whole fish was fried beautifully. Squeezing the giant whole lemon chunk left our fingers sticky from the sauce it had been drizzled with. Would have liked it to be wedged for easier squeezing. We liked that the fish wasn't drowning in the sweet sauce and only the lower half near the tail had sauce. The upper part near the head was mostly dry. This suited us fine but if you like more saucy, then you can always use the serving spoon to scoop extra sauce from bottom of plate and drizzle. The tofu was interesting, well fried so it was crisp, not greasy, like fried tofu can be. The inside was indeed soft like the menu described. It is different from regular (your average firm Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, taiwanese, Chinese etc. tofu) tofu, has a sour smell and taste kind of like slightly spoiled regular tofu, but with a mashed potato texture. The chicken chunks had a warmed over odor and flavor that I could not stomach, but if you aren't sensitive to that you may like the sticky sweet General Tso type sauce. Batter was too thick for my liking but if you like hush puppies and bready items, you may like this. Note for people with food allergies: The older male server was very communicative and proactive regarding possibility of cross contamination. Other young female server looked like she didn't want to be there, made a face when asked for the menu, and was the opposite of the male server in every way. If you have a mango allergy, they do store mango together with other produce, and use the same cutting board and wok. We took a chance knowing I may get probably a slight case of hives (in the Mission and really wanted some Burmese) because we were some of the first customers of the day, and they checked that no one had cut/cooked mangoes yet.

This was a place recommended by all locals. So you can’t go wrong with that. We ordered all new things from the menu that others had not tried. We ordered the salt and pepper calamari which was not what we expected but even better. The calamari was deep fried and cruspy but not sliced thinly as usual. They were good big meaty chunks. It was served along with a sweet and tangy sauce and sliced jalapeños and this combination is the best we had all ever had. It was our favourite dish. We also got the tea leaf salad which is mixed in front of you by the server. It could do with a little more tang or maybe lemon. We got the spicy noodles wit chicken which had a sweet and spicy flavour. And the last thing we got was the chilli lamb which was perfectly cooked with great flavour. The service and the food was on point and a must visit for all.

Carlos was an absolutely amazing bartender. He created two really stunning drinks for me. He indulged mean in a cocktail that he had not heard of and he made it really well. He also mentioned that he really likes old-fashions and does them well. For dinner, he recommended the Shan noodles. I got them with tofu, they were a great pairing with my drinks. Aside from that, it was good and fast service for a busy Tuesday night. Glad that the restaurant is doing well.

Good restaurant, cozy with a nice atmosphere. The service is really good and for many meals they let you leave the "experience" (just mixing at your table all the ingredients of a salad or of the noodles maybe to justify the price). Beside the "food experience" is good Burmese food, but not the best.

The platha with dip, tea leaf salad and Burmese curry with cat fish were all super tasty!!! I was not a fan of the garlic pea sprouts because the vegetables tasted old/stale and stringy. Otherwise, it was a terrific dining experience in Mission and I’d come back for the tea leaf salad, and to try other menu items.

Got the vegetarian samusa- incredible flavors. Savory and delicious. Love the vegetables you add in - the crispiness is fun in a soup. I could eat this all night. Rainbow salad- also good! Recommend as an app for two. Fried banana (pictured)- small and good.

Everyone’s here for the tea leaf salad but two underrated dishes are the chickpea tofu appetizer and pork belly with mustard greens! Tofu was surprisingly good and the pork belly was not fatty at all. The mustard greens were super savoury and reminded us of northern Chinese dishes. Coconut rice too sweet tho! More like a dessert.

I'm always a fan of burma love! I've been to the other location, so I wanted to try the mission location. Good: - I love the tea leaf salad here - it's always got a nice spread of textures and it's always so tasty and healthy - The Pratha here is to die for, it's always so warm and flakey - The coconut curry noodles were solid as well - lots of flavor and a unique menu options - I got a cocktail here that was nice and fruity, forgot what it was called though - Cool ambiance, dimly lit and good for a catchup without too much noise - Nice servers Bad: - The food can take a while to arrive, and it's a bit slow Overall this place was really good and a classic to take friends to!

Busy but very nice spot to eat Burmese food. The portion are quite small but amazingly tasteful. There is a limited amount of vegetarian options (even if you can choose tofu, for most of the dishes), almost no dishes without garlic. The service is fast, and it was pretty funny to watch the waiter stir your plate. Things to improve: we waited about an hour, been called because our table was ready, then waited 15 more minutes.

  • 5/5 Julie Taeko . 4 years ago on Google
Absolutely delicious and great service although sometimes they rush you. The garlic noodles were very tasty, more so than the tea leaf salad! I loved the overall atmosphere, but not the prices. But heck, it’s San Francisco! What can you expect? Thus, it’s still really good overall!

Lots of 5 star reviews and I can validate this through my own experience. Visited with the wife and had enough food to feed a family. It was really very good. The flavours packed in these dishes are delightful. At one point my wife had to physically take the food away to give me some time to digest the food. We had a bit of a domestic after that. Get yourself down here, you won’t be disappointed.

Absolute garbage. B Star grade prices for Panda Express grade food. Got my order wrong, even though it was placed using DoorDash. The crispy chicken is more disappointing than anything I’ve eaten out of a frozen box, and the tea leaf salad just tastes like fish sauce. If you want a good tea leaf salad, go to Marnee Thai.

  • 4/5 Victoria S. 4 years ago on Google
We ordered the two entrees, vegetables, and salad for two, and had plenty of left overs. The tea leaf salad is a must try, because of how surprising subtle the tea is worked into the salad. It’s refreshing and appetizing. The garlic noodles were delicious and fragrant. The yellow curry was also well seasoned and really mildly spicy, so good for anyone who shies away from spice. The stir fried garlic broccoli was the only disappointing dish. We wanted a vegetable, and saw that it was a staff favorite. It was just steamed broccoli that was salted and had a few dried garlic flakes sprinkled on top. I’d pass on that one next time. Everything else was delicious.
