Kali , Kalika or Mahakali is a major goddess of Hinduism . She is the goddess of death, time and change. This beautiful form of Adishakti is the black, fierce and fearful form of Durga Mata, which originated to kill the demons . He is especially worshiped in Bengal , Odisha and Assam . Kali is also considered one of the ten Mahavidyas of the Shakta tradition  The right Pindi in Vaishno Devi is of Mata Mahakali only. Kali' is derived from Kaal or time which makes everyone its grass. This is the form of Mother which is going to destroy but this form is only for those who are of demonic nature, who have no mercy. This form is going to make good win over evil, so Maa Kali is well-wisher and worshipable of good people. She is also called Mahakali . According to Hindu mythology, Shumbha and Nishumbha were two demon brothers who were the sons of Maharshi Kashyapa and Danu and brothers of Rambha , Namuchi , Hayagriva , Swarabhanu , Daityaraj , Karambh , Kalketu and Vaprichiti . Her story is described in Devi Mahatmya. Devraj Indra once killed Namuchi . Enraged , Shumbh-Nishumbh snatched Indrasan from him and started ruling. Meanwhile Parvati killed Mahishasura and both of them were eager to take revenge from her. He placed a condition in front of Parvati that she should either marry one of them or get ready to die. Parvati said that whoever defeats me in the war, I will marry him. There was a fight with both of them and both were killed. Apart from the Shakta sect of Sanatan Hindu religion, Kali is also worshiped in Tantric Buddhism and other sects. Tantric Buddhism worships yoginis , dakinis with terrifying forms such as Vajrayogini and Krodhakali. Krodhakali (other names: Krodikali, Kalika, Krodheshwari, Krishna Krodhini, etc.) is called Troma Nagmo (in Old Tibetan: ཁྲོ་མ་ནག་མོ་, Wylie: khro ma nag mo). Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs , composed a famous book called Chandi Di War . The practice of pilgrimage to Saint Sara (or, Sarala Kali) in European countries probably went from India to Europe with the Roma people in the Middle Ages. Some people in the western world worship Kali in a modern form. These people are mainly feminists or followers of the 'New Age'. But the form in which they consider Kali does not match with the Sanatan Hindu belief at all.

Khepakali Temple is a famous spot of religious imterest.Goddess Kali is worshipped here. There is a rumor that the original temple is centuries old.But it may not be an authorized version. But ,whatever it may be,the place is much popular.Devotees flock here on everyday, especially on the occcasion of New Moon Day.Every year Kali Puja is celebrated here with much pomp and pleasure.People from all over the district(even state) come here to pay homage to the Goddess. There is a small guest house too just opposite the temple. It can be booked beforehand. One can also relish the fantabulous "Bhog"of the Goddess kali .But it needs prior booking and it is cheap compared to the quality.I very often visit the place with my family...

Goddess Kali here is called 'Kshepi Maa'. People and disciple get Prasada ( Meal after worship is completed. But I have some complaints against negligence of management committee. Bhakts are to sit on the cold naked floor. No system of sitting on bench and table to have meal/Prasada there. Old people with knee problems can't sit on the cold floor. Management committee allow more than one party for offering Bhog at the same time, same day but don't arrange for proper sitting arrangement well before the distribution of Prasad starts. Good, able person required there to manage everything. Sitting arrangement on bench table is must. People of KATWA have a special regards and believe towards 'Kshepi Maa'. Nowadays 'Jhupo Maa' and 'Raksha Maa (Kali)' are getting daily Seva(Worship) and Prasad distribution is done there. Bhakts must Just contact before.
