This is just at the entrance to the Nangur area from the main road connecting Sirkali. We visited this temple by evening. It gets closed around 8pm so we had time to finish it at the last. Even lights are there and temple is well maintained. It has a big pond infront with many Lotus. Temple area is fully covered with asbestos and hence not able to see it properly. Two small shops are available for buying Puja things. We finished our rituals properly and had a nice time.

In April 2015 our friend and neighbour who has moved to Annan koil to live in the lap of nature doing organic farming and visiting the temples around drove us to the domain of Tirumangai azhwar. We left Srirangam at 10.00 A.M. and after a short stop at Koiladi we reached Annan koilgardens at 3.00 P.M. We spot the brightly painted Tiruman shanku chakram from a distance itself and as the gate opened we saw the garden beautifully tended by the couple. Flowers and vegetables growing fresh makes one happy. We couldn’t but marvel at Perumal’s Creation which is so perfect. Thin wiry creepers bear huge pumpkins, the cluster-beans and brinjals and ladyfingers mingled with the roses and jasmines and Tulasi flanked by banana plants bending their heads with the weight of the meroon flowers with small plantains waiting to ripen. Butterflies and bees and birds of various kinds and a stray dog with two puppies wagged their tails vigorously in welcome. After resting and relaxing we proceeded to Annan-koil armed with a torch . The first thing we spied was a beautiful pond with lotuses. It being evening the flowers were shut and Hema told us that this was the pond from which Kumudavalli nachiyar took avatharam. It was with awe that we offered our pranams to the hallowed spot and did prokshanam (sprinkled water) for this StriRatnam (Jewel of a woman)gave us Tirumangai azhwar. Smitten by her beauty Tirumangaimannan a chieftain of the area wanted to marry her. She agreed if he fulfilled two of her conditions: 1)To become a srivaishnava by getting panchasamskaram (samashrayanam) and 2)To feed thousand Srivaishnavas daily for a year. Tirumangaiazhwar fulfilled the conditions even though he became a pauper and resorted to robbing the rich. This kulam or pond has given the name Tiruvellakulam to this place. Vellai in Tamil means white. This kshetram is associated with Swethan (sanskrit word for white), the son of Dundhumaran of suryavamsham who was destined to die at the age of nine. After bathing in the kulam he sat under the bilva tree on its banks and did mrithyunjayamantrajapam. The result was that he was blessed by Perumal and he lived upto a ripe old age. Perumal is Srinivasan, Kannan also known as Annan Perumal and Thayar is Alarmelmangai (Moolavar) and Padmavathi or PoovarTirumagal (Utsavar). After buying flowers and offerings for archanai we entered the temple to have darshan of Lord Srinivasa and Alarmelmangai Thayar. As we made our way home with the torch on (plenty of power-cuts in this area) the moon shone brightly in the sky (it was full-moon night) the tranquillity of the place was apparent and because nature has not been tampered with yet the summer night was cool. Next day we got the sthala puranam and 108 Divyadesa Thayar- Perumal archanai recorded. Madhava Bhattar who is the chief-priest of the temple was kind enough to spend time to share these with us.

Shri Annanperumal Vishnu temple in Thiruvellakulam village, near Sirkali is one of the Divyadesams. Shri Alarmelmangai Thaayaar in seperate sanctum. Birth place of Azhwar Kumudavalli Nachiyar. As per legend Saint Thirumangai Azhwar got blessings of Perumal here and became one of the main Azhwars thereafter. Temple has large tank in front. In the inner sanctum we can have darshan of both Moolavar and Utchavar (Shri Srinivasa Perumal).

Summary of our visit to Divyadesams in Sirkazhi - August 25th to 28th - Travel tips =================================================================================== Stay: Stayed in hotel Sadabhishekam, Vaitheeswaran kovil, for one night. Visited 3 divyadesams in Thirunagur and Vaitheeswaran kovil that evening. Next day, visited 2 Diviyadesams again in Thirunagur. The rest of the visits were from Hotel White Palace in Sirkazhi. Annan kovil has accommodation. One can search for "Annan Perumal Thirumani Mandapam". Thiruindalur also has accommodation. Location: The divyadesams are almost equidistant from Vaitheeswaran kovil or Sirkazhi. Most of the Divyadesams are within a radius of 3 to 4 kms in Thirunagur or Nagur. Thirunangur is about 11 kms from Sirkazhi/Vaitheeswaran kovil. Thiruindalur was about 23 kms from Sirkazhi. . All the temples are in villages which are serene and quite. We visited the temples around Nangur and Thiruindalur, along with the 2 Shiva temples in about 3 days (morning - rest - evening). Transportation: We drove from Bangalore to Vaitheeswaran Kovil. Took us about 7.5 hours. We took an auto to go around the temples. Each trip was for around 2 to 3 hours. One can either drive (google maps for guide) or hire an auto (they know the locations and the routes). The roads, except one small stretch, are narrow but motorable, since there is no traffic. Buses are available from Sirkazhi and Vaitheeswaran, but they might not go into the villages. One might need to get down on the main road/highway and walk. The Divyadesams: The historical and religious significance of the temples are available on the net. The summary of the temples we visited is attached. In all the temples, The Moolavar and His Consort(s) were at the back. Utsavars were in the front. As per one of the Gurukals, this is how it is in Chozha nadu divyadesams. Shlokam by Sri Krishna Premi and Azhwar Pasuram were engraved on the walls of all the temples. The Grace of Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamigal are also there for all the temples. Annan kovil has accommodation. One can search for "Annan Perumal Thirumani Mandapam". In Most of the temples, the Garbagriha was closed. On seeing us, either the Gurukal or one of the attendants came to open the door. The Gurukukal then explained the significance of the dieties and the temples and would recite a small pasuram. There is no fixed timing for opening of most of the temples. We would reach the first temple by about 7am and get back to the hotel by 11am. In the evening, around 430pm and get back by 7pm. The phone numbers given on the website are not correct. We got Curd rice and Puliyogare for prasdam from the Thrivkirama Kovil, Sirkazhi. Probably the only divyadesam in the area we are left to see is Thiru Parthanpalli. Also, there is renovation work going in some of the temples (including major ones in The Brahmapureeshwara Temple, Sirkazhi). The majestic stone walls which were sort of black have been painted white. How much of the orignal spiritual look and feel is left, is to be seen. We also visited Vaitheeswaran kovil and Brahmapureeshwar kovil. Food: We found small houses serving as hotels. We had idly and vada in one of them. Idly was good, vada was not. Otherwise, our food was in Sirkazhi or Vaitheeswaran kovil. Hotel Sadabhishekam had a very good veg only restaurant. They also had restaurant at Navagriha resorts near Sirkazhi.

It's in between sirkazhi and thirukadaiyur, very close to highways. After visiting thirukadaiyur we thought of visiting a perumal temple. Luckily we found this 108 Divya Desam temple, such a peaceful and awesome place in the middle of village. No parking charges or crowd. Also they mentioned that this lord perumal is brother of Tirupati Perumal, so the temple is also called as Annan Kovil (Brother's temple). A must visit place for everyone.

One of the Divya Desam. Near Sirkazhi. Sometimes flower, Thulasi may not be available. From where ever you come try to bring may be from Sirkazhi or where ever it is available. There are totally 15 Perumal Temples in a radius of about 20 kms many are Divya Desams. Similarly there are lot of Padal Petra shtalams (Siva Temples) - in and around Sirkazhi. In case you want to have Darshan. Try to stay in Sirkazhi for 2/3 days. For 13 Perumal Temples you can engage Car or Auto. In case you want to explore on your own better visit these Perumal Temples from 8 AM till you cover all (Two Temples Naan Madhia Perumal Temple and Thirunagari Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal Temple are open even between 12 Noon and 4 Pm). Hence, plan accordingly
