The staff was very helpful and the atmosphere was friendly and chill. I stayed only one night but I still met some cool people. Value for money is also good, as the price includes breakfast and the location is quite central. The facilities are decent but there's some room for improvement (i.e. no curtains on bunk beds, the fridge is too small, no, dishwasher). Overall, CS still gets a solid 5-stars from me. Highly recommended for solo travellers. This place is not just an accommodation, but also an experience.

Best hostel I have been to see far on my solo trip around Europe. Staff were super helpful and enthusiastic about anything you wanted or needed. The breakfast is the bomb. And the whole vibe of the place almost made me stay another day. I highly recommend!

Nice place to stay, super well located!! From there you can go on foot to the main attractions in the city! They offer a free breakfast which is a plus and the waffles were delicious!! : ) The beds are comfortable and the room temperature was nice too. The downside was that they only have two bathrooms inside the main area of the hostel. But in overall I recommend this hostel!!

I loved this hostel! Everyone is so friendly. The staff organise free activities every day. The breakfast is included and serve waffles! Everything is super clean. Good vibes. The only thing I wish was different is some sausages or some meat for breakfast 😅 Thank you so much for a very positive stay!

Definitely the best hostel in Riga and one of the greatest I've stayed so far around the world. First of all when you arrive you feel welcome from the start, they ask you to take off your shoes, do the check in and then proceed to take you on a tour around to hostel. The vibe in this hostel is good, it feels more of a party hostel but It doesn't get crazy like in some other hostels, so even if you're an introvert like I am, you'll have a good time here and even join their events like I did. The common areas are a nice place for you to make friends, I met some great people here and made a good friend. If your introvert side begins to kick in, there are areas you can get away from all the "noise" and chill a bit. Not every place do free breakfast here in Europe and their breakfast is delicious, probably gained some weight from all those delicious waffles I had everyday :). My only two suggestions is to one have a mirror in the rooms and to also have one or two more toilets and also showers. Thank you for everything, I'll definitely stay here again in the future and will always recommend you whenever someone says Riga. Happy Christmas

Went here alone. Great location, direct public bus a short walk away to and from the airport. By far the best hostel experience I ever had! People were so friendly, happy and made you feel welcomed. They had a nice breakfast buffet where they made you waffles and croissants they had boiled egg, cerials, bread and coffee. Nice beds, power outlets by your bed, no annoying sound from outside and the hostel was quite after 23 You get supplied with bedsheets and towels and the showers are great! Place is clean with a cozy common area where you can sit and chat with people, drink beer or maybe play the guitar they had there! Was a bit tricky to find the entrance but you have to enter McDonald's and there will be a a door there. They also bave you great advices on what to do in Riga! Will come back in summer hopefully

Awesome hostel! I've stayed here several times, and over summer there are activities almost every day! In winter they run a free pub crawl and they have events that highlight local culture and history, such as Folk Dancing. It's super homely and the breakfast is great! - fresh waffles, veges and free unlimited coffee! The rooms are super clean and the staff and volunteers are always around, being social and creating an awesome atmosphere! Very nice touch having a wall with photos of former staff and volunteers to show the effort put in by so many people to make this place as cool as it is! There is a co-working space with its own dedicated wifi and comfortable setting and another thing that makes this place stand out is the art, it's like it's own small gallery. My favourite hostel in Europe, 💯.

I loved this hostel. The personal is great, and the atmosphere as well. They organise activities every day in which you get to know with other people from the hostel. Breakfast is included and also become another social event. I felt like at home all the time and really enjoyed my stay here. 100% recommended.

Cinnamon Sally is a project that has been ongoing for 11 years and counting. Even with a change in ownership the vision for this hostel has not been lost. Location 10/10: Cinnamon Sally is located right across from the heart of Riga and it is easily one of the best possible locations to stay to explore the city. The old town is just 2 blocks away. Most buses are 3 blocks away or less. The train station is 1 block away. The central market (which has amazing produce and treats) is 4 blocks away. Cleanliness 10/10: Everything from the sheets/beds/bathrooms are thoroughly maintained and kept as close to spotless as possible. Hospitality 10/10: The staff is accommodating to everyone they meet. From language barriers to special requests they do their best to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Layout 10/10: The common area is the centerpiece of the hostel. No matter what you are doing in the hostel you must pass the common area. This leads to constant conversations and socializing that you don't find in other hostels. Food/Drinks 10/10: There is a wide selection of drinks kept stocked in a fridge for guests to take. The breakfast is healthy with several different options to take including options for those that have diet restrictions/limitations. Safety 9/10: The hostel always has someone from staff around or actively monitoring to make sure that everyone is safe and taken care of. There is another hostel on the 5th floor that tends to attract a very different type of crowd. Overall I loved my time at Cinnamon Sally and I know for a fact that the next time I come to Riga I will feel welcome and greeted as a friend if I return. Cheers, -Chris

One of the best hostels I've stayed at. Firstly, the rooms and facilities were clean, well maintained and comfortable. They were also practical and well thought out - little things like plenty of power points, and a shelf next to your bed. Secondly - the people. The staff are all very engaged and enthusiastic, they want you to enjoy your stay in Riga and there are plenty of social activities organised if you'd like to join in. As a result I met lots of fellow travelers, a great experience when you're traveling solo.

Breakfast was very good, delicious waffles, fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, good coffee. Room was nice, towel was for free. Hostel is located near city centre, receptionists are helpful and kind, especially I liked Agnese. I spent a good time in Riga

This hostel is unique in Europe in that it fosters an atmosphere of actual community, especially with it's set up. If you want to make friends and be in a homey feel during your stay, this is the place. My only complaint is that they should have someone at the front desk more often and a 24/7 phone number.

By far the best backpackers I have been to in the Baltic countries. The rooms are super clean and they’ve managed to create a homey atmosphere. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely stay again in the future

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Cinnamon Sally Backpackers Hostel in Riga during my second trip to Europe, and it undoubtedly stands as my best hostel experience on the continent. The hostel set a new benchmark for what a great hostel experience should be like, blending comfort, community and excellent service seamlessly. A special mention must go to Christian Balmer, whose hospitality was remarkable. He not only provided us with a map of Riga, highlighting must-visit spots, but also took time to show us around. His efforts greatly enhanced our exploration of this beautiful city. The highlight of the stay was the New Year's Eve gathering. The hostel's management and volunteers not only organized the event but also actively participated in the fun games, creating an atmosphere where guests and staff blended in harmony. This level of engagement from hostel management is something I have seldom seen, especially in America, where such personal involvement is rare. As we celebrated, ringing in the new year with games, dancing, and enjoying the fireworks, it was heartwarming to see the staff ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being. Their attention to every guest's safety, while letting everyone enjoy the festivities, was truly commendable. The accommodations were immaculate, with clean rooms and timely, complimentary breakfasts. The hostel's location, intriguingly situated above a McDonald's, added a unique convenience. Initially, it was a bit challenging to locate, but once found, it proved to be an ideal spot, especially for those looking to balance traditional Latvian cuisine with familiar fast-food options. Cinnamon Sally Backpackers Hostel in Riga goes above and beyond to create a memorable, warm, and welcoming experience for its guests. It's a shining example of hostel hospitality done right, and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Riga, especially over the festive season.

Amazing hostel. Highly recommended for those who want to socialise with others or remote work. The Staff and volunteers are the best. Free breakfast, Cozy living room, clean toilets and showers, separate space for co working. Will visit again in summer.

The location is amazing no doubt. Also there is a working elevator which is so nice since it is on the 3rd floor of the building. The beds and bathrooms were okay. The part that makes this place stand out is the free breakfast and the very “HOME” feel to it. The staff is professional, kind and doing their best to keep the place clean and social. Of my Baltic trip so far this was my favorite hostel.

A really nice, spotlessly clean, modern and tasteful hostel with plenty of capacity for washing and showering and a great laundry service, which saved my two-week break for €8. Staff so helpful and go above and beyond what they need to do to to make you feel welcome and orientate you in the city. Grateful for the quiet side of the hostel with space to work or read in peace. Only thing that was a negative was the pedestrian crossing outside the window, which beeped for 30 seconds every minute seconds all night long.

What an amazing hostel this is! It caters for absolutely anyone and anything. Whether you wanna party every night or rather just chill inside and chat or play games, you'll find your spot here. Staff is super nice, rooms are clean, location is superb with everything within walking distance. Only downside is that the hostel is next to a very busy road so I got woken up by police sirens a few times. Don't search further for a hostel in Riga and stay at Cinnamon Sally!

The CinnamonSally is the perfect place for backpackers to stay in Riga: tidy, clean, well organized, central located and safe. The staff of the hostel makes you feel home from the first second. Exceptional!

Just an awesome place to be. Feels like home, a living room, a party, a place with free waffles and lots of things included in the price all in one place. For a small amount they can do your washing and dry. Makes you want to stay longer

One of the best hotels I stayed in ever! Its clean and cozy, super nice hostel vibes because of the great chill out area and great staff which makes you feel welcomed and gives good advices for activities in the city. Also the Breakfast is perfect. Totally recommend!!

Never seen a hostel this clean. Also it's incredibly cheap. And the breakfast is really delicious and gives you a lot of different options. Everything you need is provided. They really care about their guests. I've no idea how they do it but it's amazing. The location couldn't be more perfect. It's only a matter of time before I'll be back here.

Great hostel, definitely one of the best ones I ever stayed in. Convenient location, and comfortable beds. The place felt like home, because of the cosy "living room". Very friendly people working/volunteering in the hostel, organising different activities: from singing karaoke to watching a movie. The waffles were a big plus :)

Everything was perfect! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Cinnamon Sally's. From the minute I walked in the door I was made to feel welcome. Julius and Oliver are simply the best hosts. They really take an interest in getting to know their guests and it really felt like I was staying with friends, rather than in a hostel. The rooms were clean and the bed so comfortable. The free breakfast was delicious. Loved the waffles! Will definitely stay at Cinnamon Sally's next time I am in Riga. Thanks for an enjoyable stay guys!

I’ve been to many hostels in Europe, but this was by far the best. They have drinks for sale, lovely rooms and the best staff! We had great parties that lasted well into the night and they were accommodating to whatever the vibe of the night happened to be. They had great recommendations for things to do in Riga and I cannot recommend do the place highly enough. I’d say it’s worth visiting Riga just for this hostel. Shoutout to Julius in particular for being a legend and giving up his room so I could have a friend over. If you like people you’ll love this place.

Spent our stay in Riga at the hostel. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and made for a very social atmosphere. Julius made sure we were enjoying our way with every step of the trip with first class recommendations. The facilities and the hostel are exceptionally clean. We had such a lovely stay.

This was definitely a great place to make my first hostel stay ever. The crew is very friendly and will provide a comfortable ambiance for you to relax and meet people as they are coming and going through their travels. If you’re backpacking this is the place to stay in Riga.

Cinnamon Sally has everything you want from a hostel; a great location, clean, cosy and a free breakfast! The common room is the heart of the hostel which brings everyone together and makes it easy to socialise. The staff is super friendly, helpful and truly loves the hostel. Will definitely come back!

Its just make my Riga trip best. Best hostel i ever visited. Specially the common area, we hangout like we all know each other for years. Stuffs are too good, more of friends. Its clean, have drinks and complimentary breakfast. I would visit again.

Best hostel i ever stayed in. Only negative thing is - after you are home, you become homesick, for this hostel & the common room crowd. Shoutout to Olli and Julius, you created something very special in a awesome town. I will be back. Greetings to Elliot

Cosy college dorm vibe. Clean Safe and with a deadly location in the centre of Riga. Super access to the train station if you want to get out of town and explore surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend.

This is the best and most friendly hostel I’ve stayed! Very nice helpful and kind staff. Rooms are clean quite spacious! Staying here really feels a lot like staying home! You get to experience the hospitality of the staff. Every time I’ve stayed at this hostel, I just get excited! Location is also excellent! Right in the center of Riga!

They make super good waffles. Receptionist was there for me day AND night. If that isn’t convincing enough, then you’d be missing out on the best hostel to exist. This has been like a home to me and I stayed longer than I originally planned. There’s always people around who want chill or go out. Hostel organizes fun events like pub crawls and football games. Really nice atmosphere, well stocked kitchen, and comfy beds, everything is always clean. The owner really cares a lot about the guests and does everything to make sure they have a good time. Thank you Cinnamon Sally’s I’ll definitely return.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever been to. From start to finish, it's awesome. I had a late check-in , the guy working the late night shift gave me a tour at 1AM. All of the staff were very nice, one of the guys is working voluntarily there. 😅 Cleanliness : 10/10. Comfortable beds, lively environment in common room. If you are in Riga, stay here .

  • 5/5 Rachel M. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice place to stay for a solo traveler, especially if you like to socialize. The staff were super friendly. They serve nice breakfast (waffles, boiled eggs, bread, cheese, etc.). I really the no-shoe policy since it keeps the floor clean. Located on the 3rd floor, the entrance is a bit tricky since you’ll have to go through McDonald’s door in the middle, but it’s all good once you get in.

This is an amazing hostel. Many thanks to the staff for making this experience so special. Its all about the atmosphere in this place, the common room is always packed with people so you never have to be alone, been amazing to meet so many lovely people. The hostel has many activities from going out drinking, kayaking, to going to the shooting range. The breakfast in this hostel was also very nice and filling. Will definitely be back!

Probably best hostel I’ve stayed in. Very cozy (mainly the common room) and spotless. Staff was very nice, helpful, willing and friendly. Felt more like home than hostel. You don’t have to make your bed unlike in most hostels, they give you free towel and you can borrow basic hygiene items, great breakfast buffet for free made by the staff every day and there is a lot of advice where to go for a drink, for a coffee, for a food or a trip. Helped us even pick hostels in other cities. Small things huge difference. Definitely go there if staying in Riga. Thank you!❤️

A really great hostel with clean rooms, showers, toilets. They take care of you from the beginning, giving you some tips what to do in the city. I liked the most that they offer breakfast which is basically in the middle of the main room. It feels like a big living room and the atmosphere is really great to socialize with others. The rooms are big enough and the beds are super cozy. Also this is one of the few hostels with enough shower cabins. I would definitely come here again!

Loads of interesting and fun people travelling from Europe and further afield. The hostel runs socials such as bar crawls, pub quizzes and events in the day. Staff are extremely helpful and give good recommendations for things to do and places to eat. If you got to Riga stay here - you won't regret it!

  • 5/5 Aidan R. 1 year ago on Google
Best hostel experience ever! For the price you pay this place has everything you need and more. Good amenities, comfortable and in a great location nearby to the Old Town and other attractions. By far the best bit though was the people, the nicest and most inclusive staff, they work hard to get everyone in the hostel involved in their events and activities. Great memories guaranteed!

I stayed at Cinnamon Sally Backpackers in Riga for 5 days and had a great time. The hostel has a central location, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere. The regular pub crawls and social activities make it easy to meet other travelers. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for affordable and sociable accommodation in Riga.
