⚓An underated shortcut between Homa Bay and Siaya counties. Schedule: Normal time departures: Mbita side: 7:00am, 10:00am, 2:00pm, 5:00pm Luanda Kotieno side: 8:30am, 11:30am, 3:30pm, 6:15pm Covid 19 departures: Mbita side: 7:00am, 10:00am, 2:00pm Luanda Kotieno side: 8:30am, 11:30am, 3:30pm Ferry takes on average 10 saloon cars. Mid size trucks (canter types) are also ferried across. ⚠️Expect a bit of rugged terrain(just 20m or so) filled with stones as you board with your car, the ramp can get a little steep or slipery but no worries, the wonderful staff will help you navigate it without incident 👌 ☑️Crossing time 🕐: Approx 1hr ☑️Staffers are professional ☑️Passenger cabin seats approx 40pax (standing on deck is allowed so you won't miss a place) ☑️Soda and snacks available on board ☑️Great views of the lake and tiny Islands on the way 💲A car will cost you just shy of ksh. 1,000 (about 800 +/- 50), a passenger is approx ksh. 150 Enjoy 👍

A good connection between Siaya and Homa Bay counties. Use to get to Rusinga Island, which is accessible just over the bridge from Mbita Point.

Impressed with punctuality of service. The captain and crew are also strict with their standard operating procedures...so thumbs up!!

Some of the water vessels available are ferry, waterbus, speedboats and engine propelled wooden boats. The charges are fair.

Please someone confirm. Is this ferry operating in 2022 February? Not the waterbus, I am asking about the ferry which transports vehicles from Luanda K'Otieno to Mbita and back. Is the ferry operating as usual in 2022? I have gotten unconfirmed reports information that the ferries are all grounded and no vehicles can cross from Luanda K'otieno to Mbita. Is this true? Please someone give us upto date information. Thank you.

Lots of commotion when boarding the waterbus.Felt like women and kids should be given first priority.
