Fun, convenient and comfortable - I had a great time staying at Travelers Rest. The room was as described and everything was very clean and professional, all while in a beautiful historic building. I was in Pittsburgh to see a new city and I found the location ideal as a launchpad. Downtown was a few minutes bikeride - and there were countless restaurants and attractions within minutes in several directions. It was a great experience and I am sure to be back.

Stayed for a long weekend in The Bunker with my teenage son. Perfect for the two of us. Owners were personable and responsive and took care of a check in issue quickly and personally. Great look and feel of a place - more like a bed and breakfast than hotel or AirBnb. Good location easy to get to and walking distance from Station Square and the T station, which will take you wherever you need to go downtown. Zero issue with parking at all - had a spot directly in front the whole weekend, even leaving and using the car a few times. Debated giving a review because too many of these and the next time I visit it’ll be booked!

Exceptional hosts Paul & Mary Beth kicked off our GAP bike tour. Beautiful historic building with clean and comfortable rooms and an amazing shared great room for eating, reading or hanging out. Walkable foodie/bar neighborhood with awesome South Side architecture. Stay here for an AUTHENTIC Pittsburgh experience.

Before we started the GAP Trail on Pittsburgh’s South Side we spent the night at Traveler’s Rest. Lovely stay! Our hosts were so welcoming and very attuned to the needs of cyclists. The atmosphere is really charming and the experience is one of a very comfortable and cozy hostel. It was easy to secure our bikes overnight, and there were lots of choices for a tasty, light breakfast before we hit the trail. We would definitely stay again!

This small hotel was a great alternative to the corporate hotel options downtown. I shared breakfast with fellow travelers each day and met some amazing people on their own adventures. The historic building was a delight, so much attention to detail! I was grateful for the contact-less check-in, the private bathroom, and the ear plugs offered. Safe neighborhood, clean room, lovely communal great room, and super nice hosts. I'd definitely stay here again!

We loved our time at Traveller's Rest! Paul and Mary Beth were lovely hosts. Exceedingly welcoming and gave fantastic recommendations for things to do in Pittsburgh. The building was beautiful, beds comfortable, and morning coffee delicious! Our favorite part was borrowing bikes and cycling around Pittsburgh. Can't wait to come back and try the GAP trail!

Travelers Rest is for anyone visiting Pittsburgh. Its location is excellent - right across the river from "dahntahn"; several short blocks from a long paved bike/walk/run trail(that becomes the GAP Trail; and a walk to the city's famous incline up to Mt Washington. Street parking is close (no meters). Private bathrooms. Key fob and key code for entry/exit. The vibe is great - lots of Pittsburgh historic materials; people mingle in the common room. Breakfast yogurt, coffee and breads are good. Bottom line: we'd stay again. The hosts do a great job.

I booked Travelers Rest the night before catching the Amtrak to DC to ride the C&O/GAP. It’s a really cool property, catering to cyclists. Beautifully restored, and great hosts. The rooms were simple and clean, the shared common space was spacious and welcoming. The garage was secure and provided easy bike storage. Next time I would stay longer. I would definitely recommend for anyone cycling in the area.

Nice spot if you're cycling through, to, from or around Pittsburgh. Rooms are set up a bit differently from most hotels, with private bathrooms across or down the hall. For cyclists, they have a bike wash station, work stand, tools, and secure storage for your bike. Rooms are quiet, and I slept very well. Neighborhood is quite walkable and there were good options for meals nearby. Paul was extremely helpful, and even made a quick early-morning visit to rectify a coffee issue. Next time I'm in Pittsburgh, I'll definitely stay here!

What an amazing property. Our group recently stayed here to explore the GAP trail and the city of Pittsburgh. We topped off the visit by attending a Steelers game. The accommodations were amazing. The building is loaded with charm. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The south side location made it very easy to access the many things that we wanted to do in our short amount of available time. Paul, Mary Beth and Levi went above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable . Highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Traveler's Rest Hotel. It is a truly unique and welcoming hotel with easy parking, intriguing historical decor coupled with contemporary artwork, comfortable beds, and access to some fine recommended restaurants close by. Mary Beth and Paul make their guests feel so much at home and were very helpful answering all our questions about the area. Truth to tell, staying at Traveler's Rest felt much like we were visiting friends. We much enjoyed our coffee, granola and conversations with them and other guests in the mornings. We will certainly stay there again when we return to Pittsburgh.

A fantastic little tucked-away hotel just outside of Pittsburgh! Perfect for quick 1 or 2 night stays! The building is an amazingly well maintained historical place, it's not terribly difficult to bike, drive, or even walk into the city itself, and the area is incredibly safe! Not to mention it's not expensive at all by any means! The owners are wonderful to talk to, and the bike garage is a great plus if you're like me and don't want to deal with packing up a bike for transit just to go back to the room. All in all, I'll gladly come back and bring my friends along :)

This place is beautiful. The building has a charming atmosphere and historic story. It's easy to find what you need when the staff aren't there, and when they are, everyone is so nice, helpful, and knowledgeable about the city. I like the South Side of Pittsburgh way better than downtown. It has lots of character. There's the bike trail with river views, the shops and restaurants, and a staircase that goes up the hill for views of the city. It's also easy to walk across the bridges when you do want to go downtown.

Such a wonderful and unique place! The owners/staff were so nice and accommodating, helping us get the perfect room by phone that didn't show up online. The bike garage area was perfect for re-assembling our shipped bikes for the GAP trail. The hotel overall had all the warm feelings of a community bike space, with friendly travelers gathering in the airy main room. Staying here felt like dipping in to a wonderful local community and getting to be a part of something very special. /// A few notes on the accommodations: Beds are on the hard side, but comfortable. Sheets are so soft that I want to buy the same ones for myself at home. You get your own bathroom per room, and it's detached with a hallway walk to get there. Overall very comfortable. The noise outside was fairly loud at night, and somewhat bright light coming in the windows at night. Cool, industrial space converted into a cozy hotel. /// Great breakfast food available - donuts/bagels, Chobani yogurts, apples - I liked that we could grab these whenever "breakfast" happened to be for us. Really excellent coffee from a local roaster. Shared kitchen available, but we walked to the many great restaurants 10-15 minutes by foot.

I had a great time staying at Traveler's Rest. The rooms were very nice and all the amenities were great. The theme/environment was very welcoming and I really liked the living area and fully stocked kitchen. I met one of the owners, Paul, in the morning and he gave me tips on exploring the city. Overall a great experience and I would definitely stay here again.

This place is awesome. The owners/staff are incredibly awesome. That's all you need to know! This was a great place to stay after riding from DC on the Gap/canal trail--its right off the bike route. The bike garage was stocked with everything you would need to continue grinding out the miles. The coffee on tap is excellent. The place is decorated to the tastes of Jack White (a compliment in my book). Their shirts are awesome--I'm wearing mine right now. I work remote and the staff was happy to provide me with a private space to get my head down and grind and have privacy for my meetings. They even overnighted my login device to my next location when I realized I had lost it. This is clearly a passion project for the owners and the place is run like it. If you're staying in Pittsburgh and especially if you're bike touring, look no further--this is it.

What a great spot to stay if you're planning on riding the GAP. Very cozy sitting area, nice rooms and bathrooms, and a kitchen stocked with breakfast supplies, not to mention the bike garage. Owners are very kind and want to help you enjoy the city. 10/10 would recommend.

Perfect stop for any traveler! I showed up late after driving all day, only to enter the beautiful oasis that is Traveler’s Rest. Using contactless check-in, I let myself into my room (the super affordable bunker room!) where I slept comfortably the whole night. I woke in the morning to fresh coffee and pastries and good conversation, before continuing my journey. Anyone needing a place to crash for a night will find a haven at Traveler’s Rest, but the beautiful building and great company will make you want to stay longer!!

This hotel is really a nice experience. Came in from out of town for a single night for an interview in the city and the Traveler's Rest Hotel was able to provide all of the normal accommodations and much more. Specifically, they lent my a loaner bicycle which enabled me to explore the city in my free time before the interview at my leisure. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and coordinates with any additional needs you may need from them. I would recommend this unique experience for people who are interested in staying in a cozy accommodations.

Marybeth and Paul were very nice. I was welcomed and showed my room. I was in on an overnight work trip. I did not take advantage of all of the amenities or hang out space, so can not comment personally, but it looked like a nice space with nice people if you have time to hang out. I was happy to have a different type of place to stay over a regular big chain hotel. Quiet and nice experience, I think there was only one other person there the night I was in. I suspect you would hear people in the hallway, but they have quiet hours and I perceived respectful people that would look to stay here. The detached bathroom was different, but not issue...only worry I had was I would forget my room key, but I didn't! If you are looking to try a unique, personal, and clean hotel, run by a nice couple in Pittsburgh, this place fits the bill!

I wasn't a guest, but just to give you a sense of the quality of people running the place- I finished the GAP trail and had 12 hours before my train left. Called this hotel to see if they'd let me pay to store my bike. Not only did the lady in charge let me store my bike for half a day, she also gave me towels and let me take a shower. And refused any payment. The towels were also the softest I've ever used at any hotel. Super cool inside, I'll actually stay there next time I'm in Pittsburgh.

Five of us finished the C&O/Gap trail in Pittsburgh and Traveler's Rest was the perfect end to our adventure. The rooms and showers were nice, and the big common room on the first floor was an awesome area to hang out. They provide a kitchen with breakfast staples, and one of us made everyone pancakes. There's a cool Brewery two blocks away, and also plenty of restaurants also a few blocks away. It seems to be an up and coming neighborhood with lots of new investment. We ate at the Venezuelan place and it was excellent. The owners Paul and Mary Beth are super friendly and communication was easy. We saw both of them during our short stay.

Traveler's Rest was fantastic. Easy to get in and out of with your bicycle. Beautiful room I stayed in and lounge. I loved the chill and welcome vibe of those staying there and how helpful the owners, Mary Beth & Paul were. They gave suggestions for a local bike shop, when I needed to purchase something & looked up the hours, as well as shared about the local Arts Fest & looked up the schedule. I had a nice two nights rest and was grateful that in a hilly city, I got to stay in a flat area too, off the GAP and many other trails!

We're riding a tandem cross country. Mostly camping out west and hotels in the cities a d when weather is cold or rainy. This was the BEST hotel stay of our trip. Paul was helpful with the bike, great storage for the gear, fun vibe. A great choice.

This hotel and our experience there was 10/10 from top to bottom. This historical building is beautiful from inside out. Everything has been renovated, it looks gorgeous and is clean. Our stay was so cozy. We enjoyed a well equipped breakfast, great coffee and the company from the owners and their sweet and calm dog. The owners are so kind and really want their guests to feel comfortable and welcomed. This place is a true gem and we are so happy we found it!

Visited for a weekend NFL game via Amtrak. Location was great, hotel was only an 8 minute drive from the station. It was also near several bars, restaurants, and a train to the stadium. Check in was simple. Additionally, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and very well decorated. Only met the staff briefly one morning, but they were kind and amiable to me. Would STRONGLY recommend to anyone visiting.

Absolutely Beautiful. The host and her husband are the sweetest people and so helpful with my first trip to Pittsburgh by myself. The bed was comfy and I had a nice thick blanket to keep me warm. If you like historical buildings like myself, this is the place to be.

Out of all the traveling I have done, and all the lodging I've stayed in, Traveler's Rest absolutely stands out. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The property is spectacular if you are into restored industrial/office spaces. Since they cater to cyclists, they have great secure storage for your bike and gear (and a stand for performing maintenance like you'd see at some trailheads). There are restaurants, bars, and breweries within walking or riding distance, easy access to the amtrak station, accessibility from other bike trails, and the common area just makes you want to relax and share adventure stories with other guests (which is a huge compliment because I am a complete introvert). The owners have addressed so many little details to make you feel at home, and it shows. I can't wait to come through here again.

Great place to stay and not pay extra for unneeded things. Room had just the basics needed for our overnight stay. Private bathroom just across the hall was very clean and modern. Location was quiet, quieter than most hotels I've been to recently! Within easy walking distance of PNC Park. Plenty of free, nearby on street parking available.

We only spent one night here, on a trip to the Wheel Mill, and it was a very nice place to stay. The room was very clean as well as the bathrooms. The great room is very impressive and the owners are extremely polite and accommodating. Didn't use the bicycle garage because the neighborhood seemed safe enough to leave the bikes in the truck, but that was definitely a deciding factor when we were choosing a place. The bathrooms are across the hall from the room, but the place is quiet and comfortable enough that it wasn't an issue. Will definitely return if the Wheel Mill ends up staying open.
