I
had
just
arrived
in
Medellín
and
began
thinking
about
dinner.
I
selected
Romero
based
upon
the
suggestion
of
a
new
friend.
Upon
arrival,
the
place
was
packed.
So
packed,
in
fact,
that
I
would
have
had
to
wait
at
least
half
an
hour
to
get
a
table
for
one.
I
was
pleased
to
be
able
to
immediately
sit
at
the
bar
instead.
I
consider
myself
somewhat
of
a
French
Onion
Soup
connoisseur.
As
such,
I
was
thrilled
to
see
it
on
the
menu.
When
my
soup
arrived,
I
was
positively
giddy
looking
at
the
alien-like
bowl
before
me.
As
many
bowls
of
French
Onion
Soup
as
I've
eaten,
this
was
certainly
the
most
unique
looking.
It
looked
like
a
bread
bomb
covering
the
bowl.
As
I
stabbed
the
puff
with
my
spoon,
I
happily
discovered
that
beneath
the
thin,
flaky
bread
was
a
layer
of
melted
cheese.
My
hands
shook
with
excitement
as
I
lifted
the
first
spoonful
toward
my
drooling
mouth.
The
taste
was
every
bit
as
delightful
as
the
presentation.
I
was
pleasantly
surprised
to
discover
there
was
even
more
melted
cheese
hiding
at
the
bottom
of
the
bowl.
I
can
honestly
say
this
was
the
best
French
Onion
Soup
I've
ever
had
the
pleasure
of
enjoying.
Soon
after
I
finished
the
soup,
the
Casserole
Maremonti
I
ordered
arrived.
I've
never
had
anything
like
it.
It
was
essentially
a
seafood,
tomato
sauce,
and
melted
cheese
soup.
I
used
the
bread
that
accompanied
it
to
dip
in
the
tomato
sauce.
It
was
truly
delicious!
Be
forewarned;
while
this
is
a
romantic
restaurant
with
a
fantastic
ambiance,
it
would
be
inadvisable
to
order
what
I
ate
on
a
first
date.
Thank
God
I
was
alone
because
I
looked
like
a
fool
devouring
all
the
stringy
cheese,
some
of
which
ended
up
on
my
face
and
shirt.
My
experience
at
Romero
was
world
class.
No
matter
how
short
your
stay
in
Medellin,
this
is
one
place
not
to
be
missed.
Barriga
llena,
corazón
contenta.
