One of the worst experiences ever!! Then we were advised weā€™re on a waiting list. The restaurant was about 30% capacity were not offered anything. I have eaten at some of the best Michelin star restaurants around the world. The customer service we received at El Cielo was not even one star definitely not what i would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. To be honest when we walked in all eyes were on us. I truly believe they just didnā€™t want and young black guys eating there and Iā€™m going to stand on that. I will be also adding this to my national travel blog as i always give tips on the places to avoid when traveling.

After experiencing different types of cuisines around the world, I can take the attribute of correctly judging this restaurant as it deserves; as the worse, overrated, and most expensive restaurant in this country for nothing. My wife is Colombian and was told that she would have the best experience in the world; sadly, this restaurant had so much talk in the area; for those who live in this country might be the case since there is no further knowledge of any other type of food. Nevertheless, their meat quality and seafood were sour and sweaty. Their dishes are creative, but Creativity should never be sacrificed at the expense of taste. At the end of the meal, my palate was cloyed. This chef needs to travel to New Orleans, the Caribbean, or Central America to learn how to cook seafood. Not very impressed at all. The dessert and coffee were good, but their coffee was expected to be much more crafted to their culture, rather than German coffee craft. Their wine experience with the food was beyond sweet, not a match for their meals. Thus, please do not waste your time or money; quite honestly, I did not expect anything high from this restaurant as others in the area. Once again, stay with the most authentic and traditional food from this country, which Colombians cook the best.

We just thought we would stop by and see if we could get a table. Wishful thinking, I thought. It was 2:30 pm, and they stop accepting customers at 3 pm. We were able to get a table in the bistro. The place is beautiful. The staff was very welcoming and efficient. After talking with our waiter we found out they could seat us for the tasting menu. But, we were informed that it would take a minimum of three hours for the 20 courses. Unfortunately, we had plans that evening and didn't have three hours to spare. But our waiter made some wonderful suggestions and we were not disappointed. The food was flavorful and delicious. My only complaint was that a couple of the dishes were not "hot." The fried avocado and pork bellies was amazing. I really enjoyed the different flavors. And our service was outstanding. The restaurant is beautiful and serene. I look forward to getting a reservation for dinner ahead of time to try their tasting menu with wine pairings. Finally, we were two people and we both had appetizers, entrees, two glasses of wine (a piece) and one dessert. It came to about $100. I thought that was incredibly reasonable. I look forward to returning on my next visit to Medellin.

This place is amazing. If you're debating between the tasting menu here or at Carmen, it's no contest. I went to Carmen about a month before and after El Cielo, I felt like I had wasted my money at Carmen. I'll be back anytime I scrounge together the money to pay for the hefty bill...about $100 per person if you skip the winr pairings. I'd recommend they do a lunch tasting for less money.

The building was lovely and that was it. One of the worst food I have ever eaten. Nothing made sense, not the direction of the menu nor the story that came with it. Irately disappointed! My date has been to the old location 3 times and she said this was horrible. Her last time even trying to go again. Where was the chef at ???, he was nowhere to be seen.... go to a McDonald's would be my advice instead of here.

Iā€™m really surprised to say that El Cielo is not worth a visit. The meal is mostly a series of distractions: liquid nitrogen to overwhelm your eyes, toys and gimmicks to take the attention away from underdeveloped flavors, and shallow stories about Colombia that feel forced and robotic from an admittedly attractive, attentive service team. Some of it even feels misleading: your ā€œ17 coursesā€ count a towel as a course, for example. It would be one thing if the food was delicious, but at some point during your meal you will wonder whether youā€™re actually enjoying any of the food or just along for the amusement ride. And itā€™s a long, never-ending ride at that. (Ferris wheel included, at dessert.) Around me were mostly tables of shutter-happy tourists, inside of a tourist hotel lobby ā€” so it feels more like an attraction than a culinary experience. Thatā€™s my take; there are many people here who had a great time and Iā€™m happy for them. If any of this confirms your suspicions, this is not for you.

This was a nice gastronomic experience. The food was unique, good, but the service was great. Do yourself a favor and head up to the rooftop terrace. Bartender Freddy is EXTREMELY knowledgeable even working on his own versions of extracting flavors from different spices to create cocktails. Worth every second, Iā€™m glad we did not leave without going to the rooftop

I would beg to differ with some of the other people that have reviewed El Cielo. I thought the dishes were great and the price was more than reasonable for what we received. The ambiance, flavors, and service were impeccable. It was the best meal we had in MedellĆn hands down.

My pallet has evolved because of El Cielo. They continue to surprise me. I come every 3-4 months when they change their menu. I love that they moved the experience to the hotel. Itā€™s an amazing ambience. The kitchen is open and right in front of you. Michelin star well deserved!

Amazing experience. From drinks and small plates to cleaning our hands with chocolate and coffee sugar. Everything was perfect. Our server took the time to explain each experience and made sure all the meal accommodate our dietary restrictions.

I personally think that this experience is overrated for the price. The time that me and my wife went to participate in the food experience was in July of 2022 and there were 3 different plates that we did not like. You can tell they try to push the norm and play with flavors. Nonetheless, the place itself is nice but keep in mind is in the first floor of a hotel. The servers could have more of a human touch, I say this because it seems like they are just reading things from a script and it's very monotonous. The best things for us was the chocolate therapy and the coffee one also.

Ok so for starters Iā€™ll share my experience in the restaurant and at the end, share with you procedure for obtaining a reservaciĆ³n. First off, the place is lovely and the ambiance subdued yet entertaining . The kitchen is open so you can watch, if you want, the quiet, subdued workings of cooking and plating. The service was very good and all the waitstaff are bilingual. All the protocols are professional and obviously the theme is articulated to you during the servings of each and every plate (we were served about 13 different ones including many desserts.) The dishes are from various Colombian regions but all are re-interpreted into a modern, taste combination and presentation styleā€¦all very cleverly put together. Two of the various ones I did not find appealing: one being the duck , which is difficult to cook in any new , artistic way and the other was the chicharrĆ³n. Not very flavorful. However; the rest were quite delicious. Now pricing: you have to pay in advance for your meal when you finally are able to confirm your reservaciĆ³n. For two people it was about $220.00usd. Wanna drink ? Add that to the bill !! How to get a Rez: it ainā€™t easyā€¦ no wait , itā€™s almost impossible. You need to first put in a request weeks, maybe a month in advance . And if youā€™re lucky youā€™ll get an email telling you that you have to click the link to confirm. But donā€™t think they are responding only to your requested time and date,,, itā€™s many people who have requested the same so jump on it quickly because if you wait 7 minutes, you fail ! Thatā€™s what happened to us. Also, make sure you double check everything , no triple check and confirm the Rez , your bill (when you get it) because whatever algorithmic platform system they use , doesnā€™t work with the high precision that the kitchen and the waitstaff do ! Enjoy!

VERY SPECIAL DINNER! Great tasting menu, very daring as they elevate the Colombian flavors and dishes to the next level. It is an experience, so you need to come with an open mind. We did the alcohol pairing, which elevated the experience for us. The service was very knowledgeable and friendly. The table was decorated as we were celebrating some good news in life! In the USA a place like this would be very expensive, so if you have the possiblity make a reservation 2-3 months in advance and go. Elevated experience for a great price.

This review does not reflect the food in anyway but rather the professionalism of the host ans management. - called to make a reservation and was given different responses by different people in term of walk in and opening hours. - as a result, walked to the restaurant for lunch and experienced the most cold shoulder / dismissive experience. Was made to wait in the sun behind guarded gate. And was told we could not be accommodated during our visit, despite what we had been told the day before on the phone. No restaurant food justifies such unprofessional treatment.

The experience at El Cielo was amazing!!! Both in BogotĆ” and Medellin. I would give them a 10 star rating if it was available. The food is nice, the chef really thinks of combinations you would not put together and gets away with it marvelously ā¤ļø I recommend the 6 beverages pairing with the food tasting, of course. One of my favorite moments was when they had us washing hands with chocolate and ground coffee. The service was good and our waiters spoke good English, made it easier for my foreign friend. I will not share too much detail of what they do so you allow yourselves the opportunity to live this. They change the menu every 4 months , so I am definitely going back in some time just to indulge myself with such a magnificent experience!!! SUGGESTIONS: 1. The one thing I liked better in BogotĆ” was that they had hot towels with peppermint essence to clean our hands before starting, which was not offered in Medellin. Nevertheless it is just a minor detail I suggest MedellĆn restaurant considers. 2. At first we were being brought the dishes one right after the other with no actual time to really enjoy them and clean our palate for the next one. We told our waiter a couple of times and then they slowed down. I've seen it it a repetitive comment in some reviews, so also strongly suggest this is reviewed.

As I have read before and did not want to believe this place is indeed overrated. The price to food quality we expected was a real bummer. We were also expecting the restaurant somehow to be on an upper floor, but in reality it was a really small area near the lobby of the hotel. However on the other hand we had an amazing waiter Javier who had a lot of patient with us when taking pictures of everything & all our questions regarding the dishes served. His service was in one word Exceptional! From all the dishes the choco therapy was my fave! So to summarize was nice to experience it but not worth going back a second time.

I'd give El Cielo six stars if I could. Everything was perfect. Many, many tasting excellent courses paired with well chosen wines. Service matched the experience, with knowledgeable and attentive staff. Chef deserves the praise. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Absolutely awful. Overcooked meat. Bugs served on food. Secret surcharge for wine pairing. Literally every dish is covered in sugar and salt. Worst meal I ever ate. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Zero flavor other than sugar and salt. Disgusting.

After hearing great things about El Cielo restaurant, my fiancĆ© and I decided to come here for dinner. One of the courses that was served was a piece of fish with ants on it. I was hesitant to try it because of the ants, but he assured me that it was delicious and worth trying so I took a bite of it, and it had a very rubbery texture the way that an undercooked piece of fish would taste. We called a server over to ask if it was fully cooked who then conferred with the chef, who assured us that it was fully cooked and totally safe to eat, so I proceeded to finish it, but not only was the texture odd It was also a pinkish color in comparison to my fiancĆ©ā€™s piece of fish, which was white. A few hours after returning to our hotel, I got extremely nauseous and ended up becoming violently ill throwing up all night, which totally ruined our plans for the next day. We contacted the restaurant who didnā€™t even have the decency to respond to us when we told them that I got sick from their food. Overall the experience was an incredible one. I was just extremely disappointed that after inquiring as to whether the food was safe, and I was assured it was, I became sick and the restaurant couldnā€™t even express an apology.

The setting is seriously sexy. Walk through a tiny courtyard garden through the sliding glass door into an organic, candlelit dining room with plenty of thoughtful but subtle touches. The chef is an artist! Somehow creating a storyline along with each course. There is no doubt that the dishes are meticulously plated, probably with the help of tweezers to ensure perfection in presentation. You will likely taste things you never have before and you will definitely have an experience with food. I give four stars because we spent over 3 hours there and grew tired of the massive number of courses. We also had a long wait to get our check. Even with that considered, if you are a foodie this will be unforgettable!

It's not often you can have a Michellin star meal for $100. The food was an 8 out of 10. It was a fantastic experience. The one thing I would change is the duration between courses. It was almost a 4 hour lunch. Towards the end, we were more than ready to be done. The ambiance was great. The attention to detail is exactly what you'd expect from a Michellin star restaurant. The duck in one of the courses was definitely overcooked, but that can happen.

This place was FANTASTIC. Ignore any negative comments about it. The value is incredible - the same restaurant in Miami and DC is several times more expensive than this. We love both the sensory and food experience. The taste and prestation was amazing. Christian was such a sweet waiter. Our best dining experience in Medellin, and one of our best around the world (we've lived across the U.S. and have traveled extensively around the world).

The gastronomic trip in this place took me to the remote, high and low, places of Colombia. The service is super well coordinated and the staff is ***** I will come back for the experience with loved ones every chance I have. Highlights were the shrimp and crab sausage as well as the Amazonian biggest fish served topped with crunchy Amazon šŸœ ants. Presentation to the fullest. Makes a super post!! iG Tick toK etc. I made two observations to the staff which I will keep to my self here because they are kind of petty. However if they pay attention, you will not only get the best Colombian gastronomical trip but also the top tear treatment and care experience. Shout out to the waiting staff. Best regards Angel Velasquez

Best of the best, top notch service and one of my top spots. Went to the one in Miami and despite some similarities this one is so much more memorable. The trout sticks out as so delicious along with other dishes that are part of the experience aside from the beet rose with the pork sauce or the langostinos that were my least favorite.

I had been on a date to the Miami location. This time I was celebrating my bday with some friends and was solo much better to do it in a group than on a date. It was exactly what I expected ( since I had done it before) an experience. It was an 18 moment experience and everything was delicious. Cocktails were amazing. The food and attention was top notch and the best thing is that itā€™s less than half the price of the Miami experience one. Highly recommend it and would go back in a heart bit.

Wow! This would have been an incredible, unique experience had my group of 6 not spent nearly 5 hours there :( Service was extremely slow. First round of drinks took 45 minutes. Manager comped us a bottle of champagne but we really just wanted our drinks in a timely matter. We were definitely a first in and last ones out table. Everyone was exhausted leaving. However the food was great, and experience would have been top notch too. They need help with service since time is a big part of the experience. Sadly wouldnā€™t do it again.

Visited the restaurant for the full experience dinner. It was one of the best food experiences we ever experienced. One of the kids in our party got a kids meal instead of the full experience (the chocolate and arepa experience is included for the kids menu as well). Another person in our party is a vegetarian and they were able to accommodate that as well. Most of the dishes were exceptional.

This was one of the best experiences my husband and I have had. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. If you get the chance to go, you need to or youā€™re missing out. Some of the best food I have had to date. Very relaxed environment, wonder staff and skill chefs.

The restaurant has one star, but is too fancy and weird. Thereā€™s a menu could not even eat the tree of life appetizer. It was four of us and that one like the menu. My French onion soup came out early and they took it back because I wanted it with a Main course. They serve the same suit with a breAd deflated later, and it was cold.

El Cieski does not deserve the praise it has received. And if it did, the establishment has fallen far from where it was when it earned its recognition. In short, the food was terrible and the service was lousy. The proteins were all over-cooked, timing of delivery of the courses was inconsistent, half the table would receive its course while the other half waited, with the server uncomfortably looking back at the kitchen, hoping that the food was coming. And at one point the server almost dumped a course in our lap. For the experience promised and the press that this establishment has received both the kitchen and the floor staff did not live up to the expectation or the price.

Best restaurant experience my partner and I have had and we've dined all over Europe, Miami, Israel, New York, LA, and other areas. The cuisine, flavor layering and service was impeccable. It's a must meal if you're traveling to Medellin

So delicious and the service was amazing! We did a la carte and the burrata, truffle gnocchi and the short ribs - seriously incredible! Juan Manuel our server was one of the loveliest most genuine weā€™ve ever had and really took care of us. The only thing we could have passed on were the desserts - high hopes but disappointing compared to the rest of the outstanding meal.

I've been to many Michelin star restaurants and tasting menus. This was a treat mostly because it was gastronomically accessible, modestly presented and fun. Lunch might be the better bet here with a gorgeous patio and lots of light.

Amazing dinner - they were not able to accommodate a walk in single diner for the tasting menu so I sat at the bar. Freddy and Alan are masters of their craft and the stars of the show that evening. Ask them for a cocktail of their own creationā€¦ you wonā€™t regret it !!

El Cielo surpassed my expectations! I enjoyed most of the 17 ā€œexperiencesā€ very much. The beet was a standout, as well as the Victoria dessert. I would strongly suggest they move the chocotherapy experience to the end of the meal rather than the candle (cera). It would be much nicer to end the meal with a sweet and chocolaty taste, and in fact I was expecting one of the desserts to be chocolate. Other than that, the smoked duck and the crab appetizer were very tasty. The only reason why I am giving four stars is because I could not eat the onion soup- it was way, way, way too salty. The service and the environment were also very pleasant. I had expected to spend 3 hours here but I ended up taking only 2 hours - the pacing of the courses was also excellent.

Cosmopolitan fine dining showcasing Colombiaā€™s finest. 22 course (some are single bites) takes the diner on a gastronomical journey utilizing local ingredients and modern takes on traditional eats. Creativity was through the roof, and the dining experience was as much about the presentation as the delicious food. Outstanding service. And a great value (especially coming from the US). $130 / person including bottomless wine pairing! Reminiscent of Astrid Y Gaston in Lima, Peru. Definitely worth going!!

Make sure you make your reservation on time if you want to have the exclusive menu.

Perfect! From service to food to the environment, everything was perfect. The entire staff was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help my wife and I understand (in English) what each plate and experience involved. Every plate was uniquely delicious and left no wrong for complaints. In the states you would expect to pay at least 4-5 times as much and receive much less. This is one of the very few places that I would recommend to everyone as a must if in medellin.

Wow I am so delighted by my meal there last night. We made reservations 20 minutes before getting there, ended up being late because of traffic and had zero problems. The service was phenomenal, the food was even better, I couldnā€™t of had a better time. Julian was amazing, as along with each other one of our servers. Lovely. I canā€™t go to Medellin without going here again. The price wasnā€™t bad either.
