I’ve been here twice, once five years ago and today again. I must say the museum tries a lot to be good, but it falls short in the quality of the work produced by the artists. The terrace was nice for a view and there was a restaurant attached too.

Many interesting exhibits. We spent about an hour exploring all the displays. Nice terraza views on the fifth floor.

Came here on my first day in town, just a short jaunt up from Los Patios. A quite place with interesting exhibits and a nice rooftop view. Unfortunately, I came here while renovations were happening so only the 4th floor and rooftop were accessible, however because of this tickets were half price and definitely worth it. The museum shop out front has some really awesome stickers at the front counter too :)

This is a great modern art gallery. There’s a good mix of exhibits and media presented, with a lot of it grounded in Colombian politics, history, and cultures which helps contextualize the art. Particularly good for those who don’t usually enjoy modern art! All exhibits had English text as well. The indigenous art exhibition was one of the best. The theatre is also great, there’s a good variety of films showing. We saw one about snow leopards which we really enjoyed.

Awesome place. Descriptions in English are available. Nice people working there. Tickets: $ 15.000 COP ($ 3-4 USD). Crepes & Waffles (the restaurant next to the museum) gives you a 2x1 bonus if you eat there.

It is a very disappointing museum. Pretty expensive for Colombian standards and there is almost nothing which could bring your attention. The staff and the building itself is OK.

Visited the museum at an unfortunate time, only the 4th floor exhibit was available. The tickets were half off but we only spent about 25 minutes in there. There was not too much to see, but the substance of the exhibit was great. There is English and Spanish versions of most, if not all, writing and descriptions. Worth a visit when the exhibits are all open!

5 floors. Only 2.5 open. Not our taste. Maybe others will enjoy it. Even had to pay. The exhibition was in mainly Spanish with some English. Building was impressive. When all the building work around is finished then the views from the top floors will be impressive.

Definitely one of the best activities we did in Medellin. Great, diverse art, intersecting with the country’s history, and finding unique creative expressions. Absolutely loved the time we spent there. Also great views from the rooftop !

It’s cool but has very limited number of exhibitions. I saw everything in a little over than an hour and I actually spent time reading everything.

Small but nicely exhibited selection of local modern art. Some fun interaction too. Worth 90 minutes of your day.

As of this moment July 2022 there is only 1 floor of exhibits. The highlight being a box with bird poop on it. Until they finish redoing exhibits on first floor it is not worth your time in Medellin. Even at half price entry your time is better spent elsewhere. Hopefully someone will update when first floor exhibits are redone.

Most modern art museums have me scratching my head about how the pieces found a place in the gallery. This museum was different in that the pieces were intricate, challenging, and informative about Colombian history and culture. The garden terraces offer incredible views of Medellin. There are plenty of food places nearby as well as park to enjoy a picnic. While the content may be a bit strong for some, I'd recommend this museum to those looking to spend a couple hours exploring various Colombian perspectives on their tumultuous history.

Google asked me write a review so here it is. This may have been the most exciting place I've ever visited in my life. The birth of my first born son, Björn, was not nearly as exciting as my first trip to the Medellín Modern Art Museum. As soon as I saw the stunning edges of that concrete building, I threw my child into the gutter. The magnificence of those concrete slabs simply cannot be comprehended. The rest of my life after this point will no doubt be a disappointment. My life has peaked

Great museum showing modern art about Colombia's history. However I felt that a previous knowledge of their history is required to fully understand the messages in the artworks.

Interesting place. Worth a quick stop by. Nothing there that will take you more than 45mins to an hour to see all if it. The building is the best part of the museum. Overall not a bad experience but not one of the best modern art museums I have visited. But you could do worse if you are looking for some modern art in a cool looking building with air conditioning

This place is so confusing. Half the exhibits were closed or empty. The stuff on display was weird. We felt like we were trapped in a fever dream. Cool, however, was the sound exhibit.

Cool relaxing modern art spaces with a view of Poblado from the top floor. And an impressive building from the outside as well. Ticket 20,000 cop. Visit the museum shop, but do it after you have seen the art. You will get a 7% discount coupon with the ticket purchase. Ps a handy cafeteria, with food, on site.

The artwork and the building itself are quite unique and the rooftop terrace has good views. Some floors don’t have exhibitions, so the museum doesn’t take too long to cover. Some interesting perspectives represented. There is a souvenir shop, cafe and a theater as well.

Beautiful architecture, kind service, and very thought provoking work. Came here solo and spent about 1 hour looking at all the galleries. There's a nice terrace where you can relax a bit. It was 12 mil to enter. Everything is written in English and Spanish which is nice. I'd like to come back with friends and family.

A museum was pretty cool. Staff was pretty awesome. They had vendors downstairs with awesome trinkets. Only reason doesn't get five stars is because I need two floors open

This museum was very limited and it seem to only have one main exhibition documenting social movementd in Colombia. The museum is in a nice part of town and very close to a nice park frequented by locals however with the current collections I would recommend you skip it and visit the free Museum of the House of Memory (Museo de la Casa de Memoria) instead.

I visited the museum with family before the pandemic. The building itself is a peace of art, and both the permanent and transitory exhibitions were excellent. The campus features a park, a rooftop, a cafe, a restaurant, museum shoppe, and movie theater. The areas immediately surrounding the property are lined with amazing street art and grafitti.

I enjoyed two floors of very interesting exhibitions that show the history of the country and this city through the eyes of artists such as Debora Arango. The infrastructure is modern, the spaces are clean, the air conditioning is too strong for my taste, and the bathrooms are very clean. To make this an even more comprehensive experience, you can enjoy the views from the terraces, have a michelada at the exit or an ice cream from Creppes & Waffles. Depending on the visitor, the tour can take between one and three hours. If you bring your bag, you should leave it at the reception desk and claim it on your way out. The price is very convenient and worth it: $9mil for < 12 years old, >60 years old, students presenting ID, $12mil for Colombian residents, $18mil for non-resident foreigners.

The building itself is cool. Nice views from the fifth floor. But that’s about it. Only two floors with artwork and there wasn’t much to see. One floor is labs and another floor is conference rooms. Not worth the money to visit.

  • 4/5 Liz P. 11 months ago on Google
Very cool museum with interesting installations. Most (probably all) signage is in English as well as Spanish so it’s easy to learn about the art. The museum was undergoing renovations while we were there in April 2023 so we could only see 2 floors, but they only charged half price for admission which was nice. We also went to the gift shop and cafe which were both lovely. I wish we could’ve seen more but it was a nice way to spend some time in the city.

We found the MMAM to be a moderately interesting venue, worth having visited once but not exciting enough to compel us to return unless we were to learn of a specific exhibit or artist whose work we wished to see. The building itself is moderately interesting but does not compare to our favorite museum buildings elsewhere in Latin America, nor in Asia.

  • 4/5 Laura R. 2 years ago on Google
Couldn’t enjoy all the experience, be aware the expositions dates. I only payed half the price of the entrance because they were changing exhibits, I could only see the permanent one. I would suggest giving the personnel a minimum course of the different acquisitions and even the showrooms locations, I asked a couple of easy questions and nobody gave me an answer, they were just aware of: “no touching”

This museum is focused on modern Colombian art, and specifically the art and artists of Medellin. The works have well written descriptions displayed in both Spanish and English. When I visited there was even an interactive art event about haircuts in which artist barbers were giving visitors cuts. Pretty neat
