Comuna 13 is known for its street art – but there’s a lot more to this neighbourhood than pretty murals and selfie spots. Here’s everything you should know before taking a Comuna 13 tour in Medellin. Just years ago, Comuna 13 was considered the most dangerous area in Medellin, which used to be one of the most dangerous city in the world. Nowadays, it’s a very different story. Over the past years Comuna 13 has undergone an almost complete transformation and become a safe spot for tourist and one of the most visited attraction in the city. Comuna 13, becomes more readily associated with graffiti, street art performances and walking tours. New infrastructure, including a cable car system and six outdoor escalators, has made life in Comuna 13 a whole lot easier for residents and opened the area up to tourists like never before.

Wonderful interesting walking tour through the slums of Comuna13. Very nice to see how the locals are building up their neighbourhood through art and tourism. Also the elevators were interesting to see and experience ourselves. Nicely painted grafitti's everywhere. And lovely little stands with various souvenirs and eats.

Great tour lots of fun. Very crowded. Inspirational story of the transformation of comuna 13 from the most dangerous and violent neighborhood in Medellín to the number one tourist attraction.

This was a fantastic tour. Esteban was great and highly recommend you book him if you can. Each graffiti mural had a meaning and Esteban thoroughly explained each one. I had no idea Colombia went through so much to get to the point they're at now. I highly recommend this tour. Was good to see how people live and learn about the culture

We had an amazing experience here! The people were very nice and we felt safe the entire time. A group of local colombians and Americans who had never been there before! We did it on our own without a guide. If you don't speak the language then a guide us best but if not go and enjoy.

I typically wouldn't write a review when there are over 9000, since what more can I say that hasn't been said? However, I nonetheless felt compelled to share my wonderful experience, albeit briefly. Catalina was an excellent tour guide. She was punctual, informative, funny, and very accommodating, but most of all she didn't just take you around but shared the story of this famous neighborhood that went through so much. It's a fascinating example of how responsible tourism can help an area, without exploiting it, and that is also what makes Graffitour so good, is that it is locally run, and created to support locals and local businesses, as well as a collection of incredible local artists, including painters, clothing designers, rappers, dancers and more. A definite recommendation to anybody coming to Medellin.

The experience exceeded my expectations. Santiago was an outstanding guide providing lots of information and sharing historical details of Medellin's development, political struggles, and comuna 13 graffiti meanings. His attention to detail and care for our group experience made this tour unforgettable. You will be merged into Medellin's culture, use public transportation (metro train, cable car, and bus), enjoy local dessert, drink a local beer, and witness fantastic street dancers and performers. I couldn't ask for more and highly recommend this to all travelers visiting Medellin. Thank You guys for making this trip memorable.

Great public art. Very touristy but worth it. No need for a guide. Just go and enjoy the art.

Must do tour in Medellín. The street art and food and story of how it turned around from the world's most dangerous neighbourhood to a local commerce and art district is amazing
