Also a few blogs from fellow travellers recommended it as a little known treasure to experience views across Medellin. The bus takes you into the heart of communa 8 which was ok but about 10 mins into the walk we spotted a shifty looking guy ahead on the path who clocked us and immediately moved into a shadowed corner out of sight. We continued walking but soon glimpsed him again and THANKFULLY before we got too close noticed he was holding an enormous machete and quite clearing lying in wait. We ran as fast as possible back to the bottom and left as quickly as we could. Luckily we weren’t pursued. Ok the views (from our insanely brief walk) WERE stunning but this is NOT a safe area and we had a very near miss so be extremely vigilant. Personally wouldn’t recommend.

So, after reading the reviews about robbery I decided to leave my cellphone and valuables at home while going to this nice walk up the mountain. I went on Friday morning with a friend and while we did not get robbed, we ran into some other people who were threatened by someone with a big knife! Even with this incident, I thought it was worth the trip as long as you prepare accordingly. If you don't want trouble, then just go during peak hours when there are lots of people.

He had a big knife , I was so scared. He threated to hurt me if we dont give us our phones and money. It was a very fearful situation for all . Nobody gave the phones, Thankfully 3 locals appeared in the top screaming: "hey what happend, let her alone" and the bad guy run down the mountain . The view was beautiful but we didnt enjoy well cause we were scared. We took the path of stairs to go down . And we dont want to go again.
