The hotel facilities were great in terms of rooms, comfortable bed, and gym/sauna. Rooms were clean and besides from not having towels a few times was good. Some drawbacks too was the breakfast food being fairly poor quality and some of the items on the restaurant. The reason for the one star was the awful guest policy, had a friend visit one night and got surprised charged 580000 pesos on check out. I understand wanting to protect the hotel from certain visitors and customers potentially using facilities, but this is insane and almost the same as two nights at the hotel. Never once experienced this anywhere in the world, change your policy.

I liked this hotel a lot. I am platinum member and I was upgraded with executive lounge access. They have food there from 2pm onward. That was very handy. Food was good. They have free clay tennis courts. Nobody begged for tips like in Bogota or gave attitude. Pool was warm. Steam room was good. Macaws were passing above the pool in the morning.

Supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but my room was not 5 star at all! The public spaces like lobby and restaurant look fantastic, but my room was small and smelly, wit old school furitures. The smell was the worst, like someone would have smoked inside for a week at least (and this was a non-smoking room). The hotel staff barely speaks English.

Location was great, easy to get in and out of- I liked that it was just outside of El Poblado. When picking a hotel, we wanted to make sure it was safe for our family and we felt that the entire time. The staff did a great job- my kids had fun on the playground, swimming in the pool (food service was also very good here, convenient to be able to charge to our room), restaurant, room, minibar, laundry service was great- very convenient. We LOVED the breakfast! Huge selection. We ate at one of the on-site restaurants at night and the portions were generous and very good. Although the hotel in general was a bit understaffed, they definitely did a great job accommodating us. Whenever we go back to Medellin, we will definitely be staying here at the Intercontinental ❤️

Pretty terrible stay. Rooms are very outdated and not clean. Upon going into the room I was given, I found hairs and trash from previous guest all over the place and a floor that looked like it hadn't been vacuumed. I went downstairs to inform the front desk and ask for another room, a request that they granted. However, the second room was pretty much the same and at that point I just decided to clean the room myself. Furniture and fixtures in both rooms appear at least 15 years old. Guest service was also pretty bad: they only had 1 person at the front desk, so check in took about 25 minutes to get through; I emailed a few days in advance to schedule transportation from the airport and never heard back from them; restaurant wouldn't serve us food because we were 8 minutes ahead of "opening"; housekeeping just walked into our room without announcement at 8:30AM; and, lastly, I've been calling for the last three days to get a copy of my receipt, but there's no answer or response from the hotel staff. Would not recommend in any way.

Stayed here the other week for 5 days. Really nice! I'd go back. The hotel arranged shuttles, covid tests (for airports), and everything. Super friendly.

The service was amazing from beginning to end! We loved the breakfast buffet in the mornings and enjoyed the room service in the evenings. The staff was incredibly accommodating and they even surprised me with a birthday treat! We would definitely stay again.

This would be a wonderful hotel, provided they remove their affiliation completely with the IHG brand. I completed a stay 2/24-2/27 of 2023, as an IHG Diamond member and Ambassador. I paid for the stay with a cash rate, specifically the Ambassador complimentary weekend night rate, so I could redeem a free night award certificate. The front desk staff affirmed upon check in that the free night award would be applied, and that I would be promptly reimbursed 1 of the 3 nights immediately upon checkout. It’s worth noting the Ambassador complimentary weekend night rate actually costs more money per night than other cash rates available, so it would only make sense to use that rate type if you’re saving a lot of money from the free night reimbursement. It's been over 1 month since checking out, and the Intercontinental has yet to reimburse me. I’ve made several calls to IHG, opened case numbers, and still nothing. They continue telling corporate IHG what they want to hear, while modifying the payment details without my knowledge or consent. Either, this property has staff that lack a basic fundamental understanding of processing reservations, or worse, they deliberately misled me on the nightly rate so that I’d pay more money per night without getting reimbursed. In other words, fraud. Medellin is a truly wonderful city, and Las Palmas is a great neighborhood. This hotel should be the last place perpetuating the stereotype of theft when you visit Colombia. They give Antioquia a bad name. Apart from this, the breakfast, club lounge, and location is quite nice.

The location is great unfortunately service wise the hotel is lacking, rooms were a bit rundown. In the reception they never announced when things arrived or people to pick us up. And during our stay the whole floor was being painted and very unpleasant having the paint fumes and workers all over. I lost my passports and I was never warned in the hotel that they found them in the hallway.

Hotel stay itself was ok. Received upgrade to a suite. What happened after I checked out is absolutely unacceptable. Unauthorized charges to my credit cards! 1MM COP charged to my Amex that was used to secure the reservation. Reached out to hotel, they admitted it was human error and refunded promptly. 1 week later, the hotel AGAIN charges me, this time to my Chase card used to checkin/incidentals. Again the hotel said it was a mistake and refund has been processed. The only problem is the refund never arrived. First they told me it would take 20-30 days because it’s an international refund. Naturally 30 days go by, no refund, and after following up again, now their timeline extends to 30-45 days. And you guessed it, now 55 days have passed and still no refund. Initiated a fraud dispute with Chase; the hotel better not have the audacity to fight this dispute. What’s really infuriating is this is INTERCONTINENTAL, a world recognized brand, and they absolutely do not have their operations in order. Best part of this ordeal? All the emails I had sent to the front office manager also had the GM cc’ed (Claude Michel Paul Estrada) as well as the social media manager here that responds to guest issues (Lucas Muñoz Fernandez). I mean, at some point, after my many follow-ups, you’d think the GM would get involved! Nope, zero response from either of them and all correspondences were solely from the front office manager. And yes, I tried reaching via phone too. Absolute chaos because the operator barely speaks English and when I finally get someone that speaks English, they kept mistaking the original refund to my Amex as my issue!! Anyways, the phone calls were towards beginning of the issue before the front office manager started responding to my emails. The stay and everything else about the hotel, 4 stars. As for management rating, I’d give 0 stars if possible. After reading the other comments in here, there is a theme of unauthorized charges and promised refunds that never arrive. Whether or not there is any linkage to IHG, I do not know. What I do know is that this is a total operational failure of management. I’d love to see what Lucas Muñoz Fernandez has to say publicly here in response to this review (again, you and the GM are cc’ed on all the emails already).

Horrible experience. Horrible staff. Do not recommend at all. For the price you are paying stay somewhere else. This has to be the worst hotel experience I have ever had in Colombia

I stayed at the hotel for a total of 4 days with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived just around 3 pm, and were able to check in. The entire process was slow, but the staff were kind and helpful so this made the process less painful. We went up to room, but found it to be small, We returned to front desk to discuss other options. We decided to upgrade to a junior suite. The suite was more spacious, complete with a living room and separate sleeping quarters. However, it was apparent that the room had not been refreshed. We had no glassware, coffee pot, towels or other amenities that were displayed in the first room we visited. The floors were covered in dust as well as the furniture; The suite lacked charm and decor. Plain yellow walls with a mismatch of furniture and odd pieces. But we liked the spaciousness. So we decided to stay. We tried to call down to the front desk, but no one answered the phone. This was the case durung our entire stay. This room situation was rectified after walking back to the desk. There were many positives about our stay, but also some things that were less than desirable. Overall I can say this hotel suffers from a general lack of attention to details. The positives include the amazing complimentary breakfast spread, this is where I met Walter whom was exemplary. Walter was the highlight of my stay, and he was the perfect start to our days. He is warm, attentive and professional. Food at the Pool restaurant was delicous, but service is slow. It takes forever to get a check. The gym, which was a plus, is old and the equipment antiquated. It' is also an open air gym, so prepare to sweat on hot days. We tried to get information about the spa and massges, but no one contacted us after our initial inquiry about prices and services offered. The spa area does have a steam room and sauna, another plus, but they had no towels available. This was quite a sweaty situation. In fact, we can note that the hotel seemed to be short on towels in general. We had to request wash cloths, which were never replenished during our stay. The pool is huge and tennis courts are a hit with everyone. And no need to pack your own rackets. Housekeeping got the bare minimum done, And it seems on sundays the servuce is not available. For our 4 night stay our bed linens were never refreshed. And someone please give the housekeeping dept a vacuum. The carpets in walkways and rooms are so dusty and dirty. The location is close to the best of Poblado, you can walk to everything. But the walks are up and down hilly terrain. We felt completely safe here as well. In the end we would return, with a lower than standard expectation.

We stayed at the InterContinental Medellin for six nights and enjoyed almost everything about our visit. The only negative part was our initial checkin where there were five employees working behind the front desk and one customer besides us. Yet besides that fact not one of the non- busy employees bothered to acknowledge us until I got irritated and asked someone to help us. That should never happen at a hotel of this stature. Once we got past the initial checkin everything else about the stay was wonderful. The room was comfortable with a fantastic king size bed. The views were nice in El Poblado. Breakfasts were fantastic. They cared enough to acknowledge our anniversary with some fruit and chocolate covered strawberries which was really thoughtful. We enjoyed some time at the bar to end a couple of our evenings. Steven was an amazing bartender and so friendly. He also played a lot better music than what we experienced on the second night when he was not there. We would definitely stay here again. It was comfortable and conveniently located.

To begin, the rooms are magnificent and big. I love the climatic light not so strong. The bed is very big and comfortable, great pillows, the bathroom is beautiful and with all the necessary but in the shower the cold water doesn’t work properly. It is nice and great to have hot water, but a good cold water to wake up is my best way. The building in general is beautiful and big and nothing to complain about. In the service is where it has many failures. It is crazy that after 5 times calling to reception for towels they just miss the order and you have to go down to see what is happening. For the wifi in the fifth floor the wifi doesn’t work properly and when you call they tell you that if you want to contact the call center of the hotel to complain. I don’t guess that is a great answer that you want to hear. The dinner was great and delicious. The breakfast made to take was cold and the eggs done from the chef of the moment wasn’t very good. Normally for an hotel of this category you expect all 5 of 5, but there’s a lot to work on.

The hotel is been there for many years, but they keep updating to maintaim the inter standars. Love our room 301. The pool is beuttiful, but close ar 7pm The staff super friendly. They're many new hotels in Medellin now, but the inter conserve the ambient and elegance , rated one of the best of the city. The location is the best. Nice neighborhod. We will stay there again. Totally recommend. 5 stars

The hotel does not comply with it cleanliness promise, at our arrive the hotel room assigned has the bathroom dirt and smell terrible, old and dirt room furniture, no pest control, (cockroaches in the rooms), also it is under renovation and they do not inform the guests. The children's area has no maintenance, broken parts of the play ground make it dangerous. Bad service from the staff in breakfast restaurant and the food is not the best.

At 9:20, Began waiting 30 minutes to place an order. Kitchen closes at 9:40 and at 9:50 we were told we couldn’t order bc the kitchen closed. Very poor service, there was only one other party being served and we were not even given a heads up.

Stayed in Intercontinental for 4 nights, room is clean and breakfast is very tasty, most of staff is very friendly and willing to help. The only thing very bad is we check in very late like 2am because we spent too much time waiting for passing immigration in the airport, there is only one person in the reception, the front desk Marlon Góez attitude is very bad, no patience, don't know how to attend the guests, feel ashamed to check in with my clients. Unfortunately again in check out was this guy again. Super bad experience. Hope you won't have this guy to attend you when you stay here. If it's not necessary won't consider this hotel again.

Large nice hotel with great staff. One bar, several restaurants, beauty parlour, pharmacy, tour office, gym and pool. Good wifi. Only two non positives, the first is its location, it appears isolated and a car is needed. The second is cleaning staff are not replacing coffee mugs and drink glasses. Why have a coffee machine and no mugs.

No complaints about this hotel. I have been there 3 times in the past 2 months. Great breakfast and the staff is very polite. Love the drug store on the first floor. The rooms are a little dated and there are better locations but for business professionals it's good.

Very nice hotel that needs a few different pillows on the bed, we don't all want a thick pillow. Also a Wash cloth is a must in the bathroom! I am not sure why they think wash cloths are optional, the rest of the world believes they are Required. Put wash cloths in the bathroom! Wonderful grounds. Breakfast very nice. Room service excellent!
