Hotel Kapital is really Hotel Industrial I want to leave this review for American tourists who are planning a safe and secure location for travel, this hotel is not for you. First of all, the hotel is located in industrial part of the downtown area meaning there are nothing but factories around the hotel. It is the equivalent of staying in downtown Los Angeles in the skid Row area. There are people sorting through trash and homeless people directly in front of the hotel. Everything closes early and after 6pm nothing is open around this location. The receptionist at the hotel are lovely and the housekeepers there are wonderful but other than that, the amenities and services that this hotel offers are horrible. There are arrogant, pushy Hustler type waiters that are quick to sell you everything under the sun. Although they do offer a complementary breakfast, the waiters push the most that they can to squeeze the most out of you. Beware because outside of the hotel there are nothing but people that look like they came out of The Walking Dead series, homeless druggies everywhere. Pictures Are worth 1000 words And I did snap a few pics for your review. The odors that are around this place are horrific. Your safety is at jeopardy at this hotel. I travel often to Colombia but this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

I had a great stay at Hotel Medellin Kapital, the rooms were clean and modern and it was a very quiet hotel. The front desk staff and management were excellent and addressed all my hotel related issues. As in any big city there are homeless and Medellin is no exception to this, the hotel is located in a urban area of Medellin. At no point did I feel threatened or unsafe in the area. I will be returning to this hotel again.

Pros: Center of Medellin for convenience to everything and everywhere, especially taxis and metro Helpful, nice staff Clean!!! Wifi free Cable on plasma tv Free (gratis) hot breakfast 0600-1000 (see picture) to eat in the restaurant or delivered to your room Amazing coffee (Colombia, duh!) Restaurant open for lunch and supper too Outside of restaurant hours= Deal with a 24hr restaurant for overnight delivery to your room Wonderful city and mountain views Elevator! Large rooms, more like room sizes in Midwestern US All rooms with private bathrooms Brand new- just 4 months old! Modern look 8 floors high Comfy beds All tile floors Ceiling fans and small windows inside enormous picture-windows do open Only 30 rooms so personal attention from staff Lock main doors at night for security 24 hour desk staff Free local phone calls Free use of business room with 2 computers, table/chairs, ceiling fan, nice views, windows with double blinds (same as in our room), and printing via sending docs to an email at front desk. Business event area available for rent Workout room Local owner: Sergio (speaks execellent English and has been to the USA, there most days) Outstanding evening manager: Leo (speaks good English, exceptionally helpful, and there overnights except for Tuesdays) Wonderful, honest housekeepers, especially Sandra and Suri! Cons: On 2 busy streets (all night), so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to city noise Like most neighborhoods, almost everything closes every Sunday, but you can plan to check out one or all of the big malls (centro comercials) like Premimum Plaza, Santa Fe, Unicentro, and Florida, as these are the places to eat, play, go to movies, shop, and relax on Sundays. Tops floors of the malls here are entertainment hubs, and these are all very safe inside with helpful security people and families enjoying their leisure time. In a transitioning neighborhood, on the rise, with cheaper prices than fully remodeled areas, but do not walk here at night, even in groups- take a taxi directly to the door and never get your phone out near here, even while seated in a taxi! Get a map of the area (city government website) showing city established estratas (neighborhoods) rated 1-6, with 1 being ghetto poor and 6 being filthy rich. Hotel is in 3 but close to 4s to walk through and 2s to avoid. Be aware everywhere as thieves know where people with money are too! Having a dummy wallet with a few small peso notes is a good idea to have something to offer a theif. The estratas estrellas are just for economic rating, as the neighborhoods are called comunas (or barrios). The hotel is in the comuna San Benito, in the center (centro) of the city. No washing/drying clothes machines there, but they have a send-out service No iron/board No safes to use in rooms or at front desk

I didn’t stay at the hotel but went to eat to restaurant/bistro in their lobby that was highly recommended. Fresh authentic food and the menu is simple, easy to decide what to eat. Nice quiet ambiance

The location is just north of the old city and right next to the beach, making it a perfect place to stay. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet.

If you love nightlife, you'll love this hotel... You'll be able to hear it all night long... Staff are quite gentle, though.
