😠 Terrible service, passive agressive waitress. Too busy cleaning the restaurant at 9pm than serving the people waiting for food order. The restaurant closes at 10 but the staff is mopping the floors all around the customers by 915pm. The restaurant is nicely decorated with plenty of free parking .... People often mention sushi, service, time, order, good, rolls, recommend, restaurant, great, times,

Terrible service, passive agressive waitress. Too busy cleaning the restaurant at 9pm than serving the people waiting for food order. The restaurant closes at 10 but the staff is mopping the floors all around the customers by 915pm. The restaurant is nicely decorated with plenty of free parking . Ordering online through digital menu is convenient. The unfriendly greeter and the terrible waiting staff is ruining this restaurant All you can susi in Commack is much better food and service than this place. Between a 1 and 2 star for this place.. we used to go here because they had a good value all you can eat lunch special, but servers were always unfriendly. Our last visit, we had the same sort of unfriendly servers, but also the sushi was not good. One of the red snapper sushi pieces I got was crusty and looked gross (see pic).. and the food in general wasn't great. Gonna have to look for a better lunch special around here.

I am not one to write reviews and complain about food, but If I could give them zero stars, I would. This was the worst sushi I have ever eaten. Yes, they are a buffet style, which I have been to several, but it was terrible. Everything they served tasted and felt old. I knew right from the start when they placed the ginger and wasabi. The ginger at first glance looked absolutely dry (see picture) which it was and I immediately spit it out. The hand rolls they offer were the worst of all. The nori felt rubbery, the avocado was already starting to brown, and the fish tasted like it was kept in the freezer for too long. Similar to the hand rolls, the sushi lacked color and taste, as if everything they serve is old. The rice had no taste of sushi vinegar, and also felt and tasted old, more of a mushy consistency. I am one that normally eats 40-50 pieces alone, and I could not finish the 20 that we ordered due to my ruined appetite. The service was sub par, waiters/waitresses just dump food in front of you without a word said. They should rename their establishment “Old-Mami”

Amazing place. Staff was amazing. Food was really good! Inside was clean and service was fast. They remembered everything we ordered without any pen or pad. Old school style. 100% recommend. Also came recommend by other friends and people I have spoke with.

I have eaten at many sushi restaurants around the United States. Umami is very efficient. I really liked ordering via tablet. The service is very prompt, even when ordering for the 2nd and 3rd time. Most places that will make you wait for the 2nd serving. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the Miso soup and the Volcano roll.

This is the only all-you-can-eat Sushi place I will eat at. The Ipads make it so easy to know what you order. All of these comments complaining about service are not it. I have been here multiple times with amazing service. They are supper understanding and accommodating with gluten allergies as well.

I took my family there for lunch yesterday to celebrate my daughters birthday. The food was great up until they apparently decided we were done. As we tried ordering desert, they closed the tablets and brought the check. As we were a party of so many, they added the 18% which was fine but then requested additional gratuity. The whole situation was quite embarrassing. We paid and left then went to go get desert elsewhere. I would not reccommend this place for any group. We were a group of 10.

Me and my best friend went there before the final junior varsity girls soccer game of the season, she is their coach. You sit down and order from an iPad type tablet. Pictures of all their dishes appear and you tap how many of each you want. It then sends to their kitchen. You can order as much as you want but do not throw any out. You have to eat it all. They offer drinks, we got water to save room for more sushi. I took a photo of her when the first group of sushi rolls came to us. The bill was $47 plus gratuity. It may be a tradition now, we went last year after one of her soccer games.

I came to this establishment with 4 friends of mine for a nice dinner and was immediately told we could not sit with our friends because we were not doing the all you can eat special so we had to sit elsewhere. We than were not greeted for about 10 minutes to order. There was 3 kids participating in the all you can eat and ordered countless time while we ate and they walked out on their bill and one of the workers had to run out after them. We finished our meals and waited around for the bill. I got 3 rolls and the bill came to $27. I put down $30. One of the waitresses took the bill laughed and handed it to someone else who circled the 20% tip and literally tossed it at us on the table and trying to force to pay after were not pleased by their service. I do NOT recommend this place at all.

This is the best all you can eat sushi that I've ever been to. The food is super fresh and the service is great.

This is an all-you-can eat experience so you would expect the sushi to be average at best but this was some of the best sushi I've had on Long Island. You order with a tablet from your table and are served within minutes of sitting down. Amazing food (much more than just sushi), incredibly reasonable cost, shockingly fast service, great atmosphere. I drive 35 minutes out of the way to go here--can't recommend it enough!

Honestly words can’t even describe how terrible the service is here because of the feelings you experience as the waiters try to rush you and get you out as soon as possible because they’re inconvenienced by you arriving an HOUR AND A HALF before they close. They stared at us to see how close we were to finishing, they told us two times that we needed to order before 10:30 even though again it was well before that time (9:40). The way the waiters treat you is wild and I will definitely never come back, not because of the food, but because of the way these people make you feel even though it is an all you can eat

Went here for Lunch and food was good, however the Japanese Cake tasted very off as if they put chemical in it. Host was friendly, it was my first time and he explained thoroughly how it works. Service could be better. I wish they told me beforehand they charge extra for credit card. Best to pay cash!

Let's start with food. The food is subpar, heavy sauces that are gooey and have a snot texture to it. About the only thing that's fresh at this place is the bottled Fiji water. The sushi rolls were tough dry and old. The chicken tastes freezer burned and double deep fried. The service was ok but very pushy to get you out. The atmosphere is decent. Haven't tried their drinks but I'll assume it's the same as the food, lackluster. Can't recommend to any one.

Service felt rushed and it wasn’t busy. May have been the server’s attitude. Otherwise this place has a lot of potential. Having “west coast sushi expectations”, the food was very good and very reasonable priced. I’ll definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.

This is one of my favorite places to eat on Long Island! The all-you-can-eat sushi is fantastic. The pricing is amazing - around $20 a person for all-you-can-eat during lunch and a bit higher for dinner. You order the sushi on a tablet so it is super convenient and fast. The all-you-can-eat includes all sorts of sushi, sashimi, rolls, appetizers, cooked options, and deserts. I highly recommend Umami Sushi!

My first time going there everything was great they had just opened up so I’m guessing they were at their best. The second time I went the service was awful. They were rude and rushed us the whole time. When we got there we asked if it was ok to stay because we had gotten there at 8:45 and they said we were fine because the kitchen closes at 9:30. That was plenty of time to order our meal. By 9 o’clock they kept letting us know the kitchen closed at 9:30 every 5 minutes. To the point I told them that we understood that the previous 5 times. Very different from the first time we went. This is the third time going there we wanted to try it again because the food wasn’t spectacular but it was good and the same thing happened again. Each server made it a point to come and let us know they were closing by 9:30 who h just so you know that doesn’t mean you have until 9:30 to order it means they shut it down at 9:30 so your last order has to go in by 9:20. We’re finishing up eating and it’s not even 9:45 and they’re mopping the floors by our feet and honestly the worst experience. We were not the only ones there and they looked like they were over it. I’ve worked in the food industry and I get it but when you have customers in your establishment you have to wait until customers leave to do certain things like mop a floor with bleach or use of any strong chemicals. I can genuinely say I will never go back. The waiters look like they don’t want to be there. They’re not pleasant at all.

I've went to this place time a few times and each experience has become progressively worse, so much to the point I am writing this review. To start, I get it, it's an ayce place, but the quality of the fish and actual taste of the sushi isn't good at all. The colors are soooo off and the portions of whatever is inside the sushi roll is so unproportionately tiny. The seaweed is always stale and chewy. The ginger is horrible. I've been to other ayce places that have been much better. The iPad idea seems to be effective until things don't come, and the servers don't care. I requested a server come because they took my soy sauce plate, and they never came to me to see what i needed.

The Umami Roll is a MUST TRY absolutely delicious. Ypu have to try the dumpling sauce and the yum yum sauce.

The food was good we enjoyed the variety. Loved the ease of the iPad ordering! The staff wasn't unfriendly, just not friendly. It was odd when we thanked them for bringing food and drinks several times and no acknowledgment by the waitresses. I think I will keep frequenting another outrageous sushi restaurant nearby. BTW. $44 with tip for each adult, in case you were wondering.

I love this place. My friends and I come here for all you can eat sushi all the time. The ordering process is so easy, and the staff are quick and polite. The kitchen apps are pretty good and so is the sashimi.

Where other restaurants quality has seemed to take a downturn in recent years, Umami just keeps getting better. Sushi is always fresh and delicious, and the restaurant is clean with a nice modern decor. This is my daughter's go-to birthday dinner every year. Awesome selection of rolls and hot food. Highly recommend!

Since they opened they have cut back on the all you can eat fish offerings, as well as raising the price. I would of been fine with a price increase but keep the same selection and quality. Was really shocked when i ordered red snapper sushi and the fish was paper thin...Definitely not going back.

Absolutely disgusted by this place. Never will I step foot into this establishment. Took a bite out of their Spicy girl roll to find a staple inside of the spicy tuna on top. Completely unsanitary and disgusted.

Been here a few times over the years, and it is one of my favorite all you can eat sushi spots on long island! Fast service, great sushi and special rolls!

Giving this two stars even though the sushi was good. When I placed my order the total was 19 dollars with taxes. They charged 21 dollars on my card assuming it was some kind of service fee or tip. The reason I am annoyed is because they do not tell you about any additional costs and just charge your card more. I do not like the dishonesty so will not be going back here. Also want to make others aware that your card will be charged more than what the total tells you so best to pay in cash.
