An enormous park with multiple parking lots available around the site. Depending on what you are planning to do, you can park near the camping site, the fishing and canoeing station, or near the barbecue pits. Parking is charged starting May 31 until October, and free outside that timeframe. There are plenty of educational signs around the park describing the location and the plant and wildlife management programs going on in the park.

Check the photos: beautiful, right? Now think of low flying private planes whining overhead every 5 minutes or so and the pop-pop-pop of incessant gunfire in the background. The nearby small airfield and the skeet and shoot at one end of the park will ruin an otherwise lovely Saturday hike with your dog. Am I being overly sensitive? Maybe. Maybe the noise is less obtrusive during the week.

Had a quick detour here on my way out to the hamptons and it was gorgeous this time of year. Parking was free in the off season but thereโ€™s a fee in the summer months. Plenty of parking. Only negative was the constant sounds of guns shooting at a nearby shooting range (at least thatโ€™s what I hope I was hearing)

Great place been going here for years. Row boating rental is an awesome experience and there is plenty of places to walk. Charcoal BBQโ€™s are great to have a bbq near the benches and everyone who works here is so nice and the park is well kept thank you.

I walked around in an autumn day and was pleasantly impressed with the park and its surroundings. Looks like a nice place for a hike. There are many picnic areas that look like a good place to relax and meet up with friends or family and get away from the hustle and bustle of the Island. There were many deer around in the morning , so ticks might be an issue/ as they are in many places on Long Island and elsewhere. I my review was helpful please consider selecting the thumbs up button- thanks and if you go; enjoy your time there.

Great hikes, beautiful views, lots of friendly ducks, plenty of picnic spaces, two playgrounds, two bathroom buildings, seasonal boat rentals, and good fishing. Love coming here with my kids to enjoy nature whether it is warms or cold, this park is wonderful!

This park is one of the best in Suffolk County. Combination of pines and oaks makes hiking enjoyable in most seasons. Large number of intersecting trails allows to make loops depending on how much time you got. The only annoying experience was nearly constant sound of trap shooting from nearby business.

Nice park I enjoy coming here often. However, I am upset to find that they are hanging Yellowjacket death traps everywhere!! They are pollinators and the bags are killing other sorts of bugs as wellโ€ฆ.Iโ€™ve been trying to call their phone line to talk to them about these and no one answers and mailbox is full.

I enjoy the trails, especially during a rainstorm. They have decent variance in pathways. It was kinda hard to find but just go north from the boat rental place for one of the probably many entrance trails. All in all great park if that's what you wanna do (also make sure to try the rowboat that was great) and my only complaint would be the $15 entrance fee. Not sure if that's just a Summer thing.

Southaven Park has turned into such a dump. Itโ€™s disgusting, dirty, and no security there. Some of our camping gear was stolen. Itโ€™s a homeless tent/ camper town now. The pictures they have posted for this park must be real old just take a ride there and look at it. Never Again!!!!!

Always clean , plenty of trails and but needs more swings and more access to the water I remember when they had canoe rentals back and horseback riding Slots changed but still love going for nature and swing on whatโ€™s left of the swings and take pictures. Great place to get away from the everyday

Nice campground, bathroom were 3 out of 5. Husband said the water pressure was way too strong. Womenโ€™s shower was just fine. Kids had a great time riding bikes and checking out the playground l. We would go back.
