Mosque of Al-Ghamamah (Arabic: مسجد الغمامة) is one of the oldest mosques in Medina, Saudi Arabia, located in the place believed to be where the Islamic prophet Muhammad performed an Eid prayer in the year 631. It is also narrated that Prophet Muhammad offered Salat ul-Istasqa when the city of Madina faced a shortage of rain. For a while, this mosque was closed for daily prayers because of its proximity to the Al-Masjid an-Nabawi. However quite recently it has been reopened for the worshipers for praying. Five times prayers are held in this mosque now with an internal sound system to avoid the clash of sounds from the Prophet's Mosque. The mosque is one of the historical relics of Medina.

Historical Mosque where Prophet SAW used to lead Eid prayers as it was outside city in those days at a very open space. Also it is said that He SAW lead Namaz e Istasqa (prayer for rain) here. Ghamamah means cloud; it is said that while Prophet offered prayer for rain, clouds appeared

It is located at 500 meters west of As-Salam door of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi. The mosque is rectangular shaped, and made of two parts, which are entrance door and prayer room. The entrance door is also rectangular shaped and has five dome-shaped circles drawn on facade. Prayer room has six domes in the shape of a circle. The largest dome is at the top of the mihrab.

The mosque is believed to be located at the place where The Prophet, Peace & Blessings Of God Be Upon Him (PBUH) offered Eid prayers during the last four years of his life. It is also reported that he once offered Salatul-Istasqa at this point when the city of Medina was facing a shortage of rain. This gave the mosque its name ‘Ghamamah’, which means cloud. Some sources claim that this is also the place where the Prophet (PBUH) performed the funeral prayer of Najashi, the emperor of Aksum in Ethiopia.

Masjid Ghamama, also known as the Mosque of Clouds, holds historical significance in Madinah. It is located near the site of the Battle of Uhud and is associated with a unique event during the time of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. The mosque gained its name from an incident where the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam led a special prayer seeking divine intervention for rainfall. As the congregation prayed, a thick cloud (ghamama in Arabic) appeared, bringing much-needed rain to the arid region. This event is a testament to the Prophet's supplication being answered and is considered a miraculous occurrence. Masjid Ghamama stands as a symbol of the Prophet's connection with nature and his role as a supplicant for the community's well-being. The mosque's historical roots and the significance of the rain prayer make it a site of spiritual importance for Muslims visiting Madinah. The architectural beauty and the story behind Masjid Ghamama add to its allure, making it a notable landmark in the city.

Well maintained, clean. There is a seperate entrance for women at the east side of the mosque. This was the mosque where the prophet Mohamed saw did his last Eid prayers. Also the name means ‘cloud’ which refers to the fact that the prophet saw performed here the prayer to request rain, and subhanAllah afterwards it did rain.

Masjid Al-Ghamama, also known as the Masjid of the Clouds, is located in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. It holds historical significance as it marks the location where the Prophet Muhammad performed the Eid prayer, particularly Eid al-Fitr, during his lifetime. The Masjid's name "Al-Ghamama" refers to the cloud ('ghamam' in Arabic) that is said to have provided shade during the Prophet's prayer. The Masjid is situated near the Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet's Masjid) and is relatively small compared to it. While not as expansive or well-known as the Prophet's Masjid, Masjid Al-Ghamama is still visited by pilgrims and tourists due to its historical importance in Islamic tradition.
