If
you
are
going
to
Wayanad
and
if
you
are
fit
enough
to
climb
about
300
steep
steps,
you
should
not
miss
Edakkal
Caves.
The
caves
with
prehistoric
carvings
are
good
but
the
actual
thrill
is
climbing
the
steps
which
sometimes
become
almost
vertical.
Once
you
reach
the
top,
the
views
are
just
breathtaking.
It
is
advisable
not
to
rush
through
the
steps
-
stop
frequently
and
take
ample
rest.
Also
take
sufficient
water
with
you
as
it
is
not
available
after
the
climb
starts.
If
you
are
driving
to
this
place,
there
is
ample
parking
space.
The
parking
is
paid.
You
need
to
walk
uphill
for
about
1
km
before
the
ticket
window
arrives.
The
stairs
start
from
the
ticket
window.
It
is
better
to
arrive
as
early
as
possible
because
it
gets
very
crowded
most
of
the
time
and
some
of
the
steps
are
so
narrow
that
its
get
scary
when
there
are
many
people
waiting
to
climb
up
or
down.
PS:
While
returning,
do
not
forget
to
buy
freshly
made
coffee
powder
from
the
many
small
shops
that
come
up
along
the
way
from
the
ticket
window
to
the
parking.
You
can
also
try
the
home
made
chocolates
and
spices
that
they
sell.
