Location: Good. It takes about 20 minutes by walk to Grand Place. It takes about 15 minutes by public transportation. As you walk out of the hostel you walk past the botanical gardens and the cathedral, etc. Facility: No place can replace this place. perfect. Breakfast: Variety of bread, cheese and fruit. What more do you need? Employee: Is there an employee there? Just ... they were like my mom and dad. I mean, they are the best. Sweet and sweet. And there is a lovely puppy.S2 I strongly recommend this place. If you come here once, you will definitely come back here again. It has already been 7 months since I traveled to Belgium. Originally my Belgian schedule was 2 or 3 days (I did not have a fixed schedule cuz I am a long-term world traveler). But after checking in here, I had 5 days in total because of this very lovely place. Of course this hostel did not have an empty room, but I was able to stay longer with the care of the owner. He may remember me, but he was kind enough to call him the Belgian Second Daddy. This hostel made me feel like I was living in a Belgian home, and in the kitchen it was so nice to have the atmosphere as well as the cooking utensils and various beer glasses. There is a comfortable sofa and a grand piano in the place where you eat breakfast, and it is enough to feel happiness. Breakfast was good with simple fruit, bread and cheese. And I met a lot of nice people in this hostel. Two Americans, a Chinese, and an Indian. A chance to get acquainted with other guests naturally will be waiting for you on the veranda. kkkk. Everyone was friendly to me, and at the heart of it is this perfect and lovely hostel.

THIS HOSTEL IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP AS OF ~1 MONTH PRIOR TO THIS REVIEW!! All of the one star reviews are regarding the old guesthouse, please disregard. The new owner, Karel is absolutely fantastic, and even though I was only staying there for 2 nights, really made me feel like part of a family. The rooms were clean, beautiful and spacious, Karel joins you for breakfast and happily helps you plan your day as if you were an old friend visiting from out of town, giving you all the tidbits and tips! The decor was wonderful, big rooms and high ceilings gives a very comfortable feeling. If I could give 6 stars, I would. I would stay there in place of a luxury hotel - I certainly do not feel like a commodity, as I always do in other 'nicer' places. Thanks Karel, for everything!

The contract wasn't as clear as it should be. Not nearly. It says nowhere, that the owner/landlord and his family also sleep in this house and could come in most of the bedrooms very easily. They got a guard dog, which sleeps and walks where he desires. If we had a guest with an allergy it would have been a catastrophy. All of them use the kitchen but they got their own restrooms. The roof had a lack so it was cold, moldy and wet. Not every restroom has a key. It is freaking cold. You are told to close all doors but it doesn't really help when some of heaters wouldn't work. The landlord himself is very kind and the house itself is beautiful besides the mold and the lack.

An old house converted into GuestHouse. Charming common areas, especially the living room. Antique furniture. Shared bathroom. The breakfast is very good.

It is not like all the hostels that probably you're get used to stay, but it's actually really good. I'd stay there again. Lovely place and is not too far from the Grand Place.

This hostel is fantastic. It's in an enormous house from the 1830s that has been converted into a hostel with only 10-ish beds, and it's absolutely wonderful. The living room is delightfully cozy, there is a full kitchen for guests to use, the bathrooms are massive, and there's a nice outdoor area with tables, couches, and ping pong. The owners are incredibly friendly, and will go out of their way to ensure that you have a great time in the city. Another pro is that there are no bunk beds; all the beds are single level beds, and the sheets/blankets are surprisingly quiet when you move (not loud and crackly like the sheets in many other hostels I've stayed in recently). Additionally, having so few people in one hostel makes it incredibly easy to find people to go out with in the city and have a fun time. Most things are within either a three minute walk (grocery store, coffee shops, metro station, botanical garden) or a twenty minute walk (old downtown area with almost all of the famous tourist spots), so if you're really trying to budget you hardly have to spend anything on transportation. I really loved this hostel, and recommend it to anyone coming to Brussels.

Excellent Guesthouse! From the get-go the owner Karel was very hospitable and informative about both the establishment and Brussels as a whole. The rooms had a lot of space. And the complimentary breakfast was more than satisfactory. The housekeeping was top notch and maintained to a high standard. This Guesthouse is ideal for people travelling by themselves or in a pair.

Wonderful place to stay. I visited in June and revisited in October and have booked my next visit for March 2019. I wouldn't have booked a 3rd visit unless I was perfectly happy. The house is spotless, idiosyncratic and reflects the owner's personality. The dog is a big (huge) softie and doesn't bother guests at all. Local bars tend to close by midnight so there is no late night noise and the area feels perfectly safe. Can't wait for March to come around. I have seen some of the negative reviews on here but they seem to relate to the time when there was a different owner. None of the negative comments apply under Karel's ownership and management. Breakfast is a pleasure with everyone sitting around a communal table sharing tales of their visit.
