Amazing location, cheap price and very clean rooms. If you are traveling with a group getting a private room is one of the best possibilities in Brussels. If you want towels you should pay but if you get private room they are free.

I saw online price was 15 Euro but when I wanted to pay the guy at the counter said it would cost 24 Euro. For me that is unfair and screws over customers. Furthermore, the receptionist was quite stressed and negative and complained about the masks (yea of course nobody likes it and they are pretty useless but it was just negative vibes all in all in this hostel ( I arrived there during evening 23rd of July 2021. The night was a catastrophe. I tried to sleep but they played really loud music until 3AM in the bar downstairs. Do not recoommend if you want to sleep early. All in all would not recommend and choose a better option.

This hostel became my home for four days, even though I planned to stay only one. It’s really clean and nice, so it would be five stars from me if not some drawbacks. However, I hate it when hostels charge for towels. Towels should always be included. The wifi was very weak, almost non-existent on the third floor. And the lift wasn’t working, so I had to climb a lot of stairs. PRO TIP: book on their own website, it’s cheaper!

Modern non-perfection (-) Well, first of all, the app didn't work as it should. Maybe it was fault of my phone maybe not, I'm not sure, but didn't work perfectly. Second of all, the doors in the bathrooms didn't have any keys to lock and i didnt feel comfortable with that. Beds were very squicky. I tried to move very slowly but it was impossible not to wake up other clients. (+) Two of the best things in this place: - nice receptionists, very helpful and kind, - check-in and opening door system in the downloaded app, very interesting solution

Rooms (dormitories) are very small, poorly ventilated and badly insulated. The staff is not welcoming and not helpful. Very bad experience. For one night, that could be ok (good price)... but if you want to stay longer, i strongly advise against it!

Don't make the mistake of your life. I'm literally writing this review just after booking a new hotel in the same area, false advertisement, didn't sleep well, noise from people in the same room and outside the room. I came here from a long trip under the impression that I'll rest for a bit, but sadly it wasn't the case, one of the worst experiences in my life.

Not a bad place, the location is great. However the building is old and lacks renovation, the bunks are okay and the bathrooms left a lot to be desired. Not dirty per se but didn't inspire me to shower. You can hear a bit of the nose from the street as well.

The location is central in Brussels, but it certainly isn’t what I expected of a hostel — not really any space to sit outside the room, no atmosphere, no recommendations of what to do. I made the mistake of booking a mixed room and it was all men aside from me and a friend. (Both of us woke up to men looking at us because our curtains were open! So fun!) The lockers weren’t secured to the wall, so whenever anybody moved to get things, it was a loud squeaking for several minutes. The bathrooms had no ventilation or insulation, so when one guest had explosive diarrhea in the middle of the night, it was insufferable to have the bed nearest to the bathroom. Other hostels I’ve stayed in have rules for shared rooms — quiet hours, reminding people not to take phone calls in the room at night, options to inform other guests about alarm times. There was NOTHING here, and I was woken with alarms from 4 to 7 am. And it was pitch black any time I entered during the day. Oh, and when I found the room for breakfast to sit somewhere that wasn’t my shared room, I saw a mouse. (Hotel staff was nice about this and assured me it would be taken care of, but I didn’t stay after the first night). If you’re looking for nothing more than an okay bed to sleep in for maybe 2-4 hours in a downtown spot, it’s fine for the price. And the staff is very friendly. But I wouldn’t stay here again.

The reviews pretty much say it all. Terrible service, ridiculously small rooms, and things are constantly breaking. Walls are ridiculously thin, and there’s no soap or anything extra on offer. But it’s cheap, and in a great location, so I guess you can’t expect much. Just hope you’re not put in a room with someone smelly

As a seasoned traveler who has stayed in dozens of different hostels around the world, I’m also an eight year veteran working in over 16 hostels. My opinion is that it’s best to avoid StaySafe Hostel in Brussels. There was a clear lack of love in this place, zero customer service skills from the employees (no eye contact, no greeting or warm welcome, just an annoyed attitude and short words) At first I thought it was a cultural difference until I went out into the city and realized everyone was quite lovely. There is no air conditioning, and with heatwaves + global warming I was sleeping in a puddle of my sweat. No proper lock on the room’s shared bathroom door ensured that when someone goes to open it there is a large crack where they can see you naked or sitting on the toilet (pretty embarrassing). They charge for a breakfast and they charge for luggage storage, the wifi was on & off the entire stay. There is only one single toilet outside of your room’s one single toilet for three floors (if these two are occupied, good luck 👍🏻)There is no common area and no kitchen, so if you wanted to save money by staying at a hostel be prepared to eat out for every meal and with no common area you won’t be able to eat inside even if you have takeaway, you will have to be outside. You will not meet anyone besides your three other roommates cramped in the tiniest room possible who are equally as annoyed (and sweating). With all the available data on businesses, how to run them, what customers want, how to treat your guests, it was pretty cringe to be there. Safestay is a chain, so this was even more surprising that it’s so underwhelming, clearly someone isn’t doing their job or it’s just a moneygrab or maybe a work in progress, I don’t know. If Safestay needs to hire a consultant to figure things out, I will happily delete this review and help you. Otherwise, I’m just another disappointed traveler.

As soon as I walked into this place it stunk. The interior and spiral staircase and carpet makes the place look really creepy. The room was really small and cramp and didnt have a nice feel to it. It's not spacious. Above all I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND and it's nearly been a month. I didn't even stay there

The walls are super thin so you hear every word someone says. Also I think that there should be hand soap in the bathrooms since the pandemic is going on.

This hostel is perfect for a low budget. You have to keep a lock with you, bring your own itineraries. It is perfectly placed near to Grand place and in mid market, surrounded by various coffees shops, cafe and clubs.

Speaking from a point of view of a young person who needed a one night stay in Brussels for time management, it's a nice place to sleep. I mean, it's cheap, bedrooms are pretty clean (mattress under the sheets not that much though), bathroom too and come with clean towels. You can have breakfast there too so it's cool (didn't have though). During the night you don't hear too much noise (not for now at least) and all the builging is pretty silent. Good position and in general a good hostel!

Stayed in a 8-bed room and met great people there. Nice room and nice bathrooms, but they charge 3€ for towels.

Rooms are waaay too tiny. Like i-can't-even-move-around tiny. No closet space, nor any place but the floor to place your suitcase, and bunk beds are very noisy. There was a dirty towel in the room when we arrived, and I couldn't sleep a wink because contrary to another hotel in the same block we stayed at, at this hotel you could hear every drunkard in Brussels, both inside and outside the hotel. Staff is only there to tell you to download the app to open the door to your room and for you to let them know when you're leaving, they won't help with anything else. The good thing is, sheets seemed to be clean (not the carpet), and you can leave your bags (along with others) in a locked room while you wait to check-in. The area is downtown Brussels, so you are very close to everything, but in an area with pickpockets, and not so safe-looking places.

Room was nasty and the staff was unfriendly. Random hole in our ceiling very sketchy. Location was amazing.

It was clean, the beds where ready to step in, and I found a towel i could use. City center of Brussels, next to the great market. It is self service. A digital key on your phone, online check-in. 24h reception. Nice hostel. p.s. before i booked i read a lot of negative commentments on different booking apps. That made me doubt to come here. But i have been in a lot of hostels. And this is definitely a good one. Book in time, because my experience in the month December in Brussels, everything is sold out.

Love the hostel. We booked room for 3 people - for our family. You have to rent towels, but there is shower gel inside and 1 free towel. There is breakfast option for €7.5. The variety is not really big, but you can have a great breakfast. It was enough for us. Wi-fi did not work properly on the second floor of the bed. It was not problem for me due to unlimited internet, but might be for someone else The location is a great advantage- right in the centre, so everything is close to you In general, if you really need to just have sleep place - great choice

  • 5/5 Julia P. 1 year ago on Google
Staff was very nice and rooms were clean and tidy. The bathroom was cleaned daily and the beds are comfortable. An app can be downloaded to open the doors instead of using a card and late check-in is available!

Great hotel, exceeded my expectations. Got a single room with a king size bed for me and my wife. Room was around 15m2 but had a shower and a toilet which was great. It was also clean. I saw many comments about missing shampoo and soap but I can confirm that we had shampoo, soap and towels. Removing 1 star because you can hear people talking next door so it may be complicated if you have light sleep.

  • 2/5 Iain B. 4 months ago on Google
Looked nice outside and that is it!. Lift broken, rooms are bland and tired. No kettle. We were thankful it was only for one night. Overpriced and avoid if possible.

  • 2/5 Nancy T. 11 months ago on Google
For the price it was certainly not worth it. It was my first time staying at a hostel and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good night’s sleep. I went in a group so I can’t comment on what it’s like staying with strangers. There are lockers and a book for the bathroom door. However the rooms are small so you will be running into others regardless.

Great location: historical city center, next to delirium village, shops, bars and Nightlife. Is in the pedestrian area. Owners were nice and helpful The structure is a old (historical) building: poor breakfast choice in my opinion, but there are plenty of options right outside, no kitchen for the guests. The locker for the luggages is a remote room with no surveillance where all the bags are stored together. Small, squeaky, hot room: Therefore I slept terribly No towels service. Small bathroom.

  • 4/5 Alex D. 10 months ago on Google
Easy going with no common room. Lovely shower and room in general. Amazing location. Make sure you have earplugs, like you should in a hostel. The city centre is noisy as expected.

  • 2/5 Nofar H. 6 months ago on Google
Start with the good things- the location is great and the price is good. Because of that, it is not suitable for someone who wants to sleep at night... It attracts young and noisy people who parties all night. The walls are not thick at all so you can here everything thats going on outside and in the close rooms. Every door that opens and closed sounds like a big "boom" in the room. The floor is wooden so everyone that walks on the floor in any close room feels like is walking inside the room. I can literally smell the cigarettes from the room next door. There's also noise from the street but it's more Its ok if you're xoming to party also, but if you really want to sl The service was also not so great, and any additional service costs more money.

Location location location. This is the place to be for those of us who like to not have to walk far. Rooms are basic, but you get what you pay for. Shower in room, can't knock it.

  • 4/5 Pavel 11 months ago on Google
The hotel is located a short walk from the main train station. Overall location of the hostels very good nowhere it is not far. The beds have curtains so there is at least a little privacy. Overall the hostel was clean and quiet.

The guy at the counter (mornings) is very rude and disrespectful. He would always ignore us, so not helpful at all. That was the first warning. We had a private room (the tiniest of all) under the very roof, it was so awfully hot that we couldn't sleep at all. There wasn't even a fan!

  • 2/5 Abigail M. 5 months ago on Google
-The location is great -Staff was helpful and flexible -Curtains on top and bottom bunks -nice bed lamps and charging stations -nice linens and comforters, beds were comfy too -good water pressure and temperature on showers -clean bathrooms Some caveats were -the carpet -stains on aforementioned curtains and carpet -awkward spiral staircase -mediocre breakfast, but the coffee machine was AWESOME -little airflow, lots of noise from street -tight quarters, small lockers -bathroom on 1st floor didn’t have a lock for the shower…

I asked to change the dates of my reservation, and was told there would be a charge. After accepting the charge and asking for confirmation, I have been ghosted by this hotel despite several emails, calls, and voicemails - leaving me unaware if I have housing when I come to the city and unable to make any plans. Frankly unbelievable and unacceptable to be ghosted by a hotel over several communication channels. If they ever decide to get back in touch, I’m open to reassessing.

  • 1/5 Anita Clara N. 8 months ago on Google
Overall terrible experience. The room was incredibly dirty, with chewing gum residue on the carpeted floor and on the bed structure. When we arrived, there was a dirty towel thrown on the floor. No towels were in the rooms and when we asked if we could rent them they said they didn't have enough for us and we had to use bedsheets to dry ourselves after showering. There was also a piece of paper on the ground behind a bed and the floor was dirty. The location is the only good thing about this. would NOT recommend. Also, the hotel was understaffed and when we saw some guests complain about their room the receptionist said they couldn't do anything about that because he was the only one working there.

  • 5/5 Fenia 10 months ago on Google
Very helpful personnel, for example the young lady at the reception even gave me suggestions of places to visit. Maybe not the cleanest but definitely very convenient. I only went there to sleep so I don't know about any other facilities

awful experience. beds had LOTS of bed bugs crawling all over them. we were not given another room or anything. do not stay here. plenty of better hostels and hotels around for the same price.

  • 2/5 Daniel T. 8 months ago on Google
Location is good, street noise is an issue, bars are open late 3am then rubbish and street cleaning happens at first light. Shower temperature would vary wildly from boiling hot to freezing cold. Bed's are similar to what you would find for a gymnasium equipment pads for practice on a metal frame.

Everything super in here -I am really don't like something but if you want to stay hotel in Belgium you shouldn't be cause steps are too little to pass. -At night bathroom locked (only outside, hostel room has a one bathroom, it's open don't worry :) -I am really like breakfast room so big and meet some people on there -I am really love surrounded bed with curtains. (if you want to see look my pics) -There is a one reading light and USB charging place -Beds so comfortable.

Overall a very nice place to stay, the location is perfect. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hostel so it was hard to rate some things because I literally slept and showered there then went out the entire day with friends. Only issue is that the WIFI wasn't good, I wish they could fix that. They could improve on check-in time because 2 p.m. is too late for people who land a bit sooner and just need to lay down a bit. But overall, I would stay there again

The location, price, vibe, staff and cleanliness were amazing, really good!! I would just say that it would be much better if the bathromm's door in the 4 bed shared room where I stayed would have a lock, to use it while you are for example having a shower and to avoid the surprise in case of someone coming in without knocking at the door before. That would be very important please, thanks :)

  • 3/5 Katarína D. 2 years ago on Google
Terrible experience during check-in, they told us our reservation had been canceled although I didn't receive any email about that. I received only an email about confirmation. Lady at reception wasn´t very helpful, she was even whispering to her colleague and laughing. It felt very uncomfortable because we didn't know what was happening. In the end, someone else came to the reception and helped us with everything, he solved our problem and even apologized for the inconveniences and long waiting. The stay, rooms, and location were perfect, but for me the first impression also counts, that is why my rating is lower.

  • 5/5 Muhammad Arshad M. 2 years ago on Google
Good and economic hostel. Don't expect high. It worthy of value of price. However there policy to directly withdraw total amount from Hostelworld seems fishy. I booked on Hostelworld, as per web, I was supposed to pay just a fraction to amount in advance. But eventually all my amount was withdrawn. Wondering how they can access my account without my permission. So, use only the volatile cards for payments.

Safestay Brussels is right into the center of the city, which is great ! Plus it is not that costly. However, we encountered quite a number of issues during our stay. First of all, the room in which we slept was not at all the one that we rented. Plus, the smartphone app that enables us to unlock our door was not working at all. The receptionnist who was there when we addressed the issue was very slow and reluctant on giving us a badge, and when he finally did... It didn't work either. Moreover, the wi-fi connection is bad but this was not vital for us, and finally, the rain got through the roof of our bedroom, so that the room was flooded and we had to sleep hearing the sound of every single drop of rain falling on the floor.

I don't think it's as bad as the reviews say. I had a pleasant stay, the dorm and bathroom were clean for a really affordable price. You have to have your own amenities and a lock for your belongings though (I didn't have a lock and so does a lot of people in my dorm room, but thankfully nobody touched each other's stuffs). Both check-in and check-out were done in less than 5 minutes!

  • 4/5 Sean N. 2 years ago on Google
Clean rooms and bathrooms, and a fantastic location. Wifi signal was poor in my room, but functional. Old building and very creaky, but very nice otherwise. If you're checking in after midnight make sure you book for the previous day btw, don't make my mistake.

  • 3/5 Pedro R. 2 years ago on Google
Pros: - Great location - Recently renovated Cons: - Bad noise isolation, you will hear everything from other rooms or the streets. - No soap in the toilet inside the rooms. BYOSoap I guess. Only in the common toilet there was soap, yet there was no toilet paper there. - Towel hanger broken. All in all it’s fine if you have your own towel, toiletries, and earplugs. For the price that I paid it was kind of expected.

Tiny rooms at a central location surrounded by night life. Accordingly this hostel is very noisy and in the early morning the noises are produced by the city cleaning. One issue with this is that you basically have to open the windows at night, as once everyone is present the air will be super stuffy as there is no air conditioning system in place as of Jan 2023. I would definitely stay away from it in summer. Also the price for it is sometimes a bit ridiculous. It's either at EUR 35 or 15. At 15 it is definitely fine but 35 feels like a rip off. Tho unlike other hostels the beds are already prepared and bedding is already included in the fee is definitely a plus. Finally, another plus would that due to its central location there are bus station and subway right behind the hostel.

  • 2/5 Andrés O. 2 years ago on Google
I found it very expensive for what they offer. 90€ for a private room for 2 people sleeping in a super noisy cabin in only 10m2. There was not even a char to sit and not soap to wash your hands. The young people they host also super noisy. The only positive thing is that is in the middle of the town center.

  • 5/5 Samantha C. 1 year ago on Google
Stayed here for 5 nights, I love this place, you can access all the main attractions by just staying here. The bathroom is okay, except that there was an incident where one of the girl in my shared room tried to use the extra socket in the bathroom, it short circuit the whole building. But overall, I enjoyed staying here.

Great location hostel rooms were decent but super hot, no AC, must pay for your linens and towels. Breakfast is a total rip off and service staff not helpful at all. Not worth the 35-45 EU a night.

cheap is the reason i chose it, good location. the furniture and bathroom are actually better than expected. room is super hot, not complaining the size as it’s cheap and dormitory setting bed bugs exist, that’s a no go

There was no soap in the bathroom. There was no lock for the locker. The room was dirty especially my bed's around. The check in is so late (15:00). The Turkish recepsionist was so good to me and the location of the hostel is very good.

  • 4/5 Connor G. 1 year ago on Google
Good location, beware though if you're LGBT this city isnt as friendly as it seems. As for stay safe you definitely do feel safe in the location, beds are comfortable and lockers are a good size to shove all your belongings into it.

The rooms were clean and nice and you had space to sit up strait in the lower bunk beds. I had beutifull city view and you could close curtains around your sleeping space for more privacy. What brings the place down is the service. When checking in it was very busy and we all had to wait quite a while to get into our rooms. I also think it was unclear that you had to download an app in order to open the doors to the rooms. The stairs where very heavy to get up. The storage area for the bags that you could use while waiting for your check in time was very hot. But the check out was super quick and smoof, compared to the check-in.

This hostel is in the perfect location. The rooms were really hot with no AC/fans, which made it pretty hard to sleep at night. Our bathroom wasn't clean upon arrival (or cleaned the day after), but when brought up to management, was addressed immediately and cleaned well for us. While the railings were dusty, the beds were comfortable enough, and nice and private with individual curtains all around. Great view from our window.

The 4 bed room is so small and does not have air conditioner that basically is impossible to sleep there specially in summer months. The location is good but also quite noisy in the nights. Not recommended at all!

  • 3/5 Peter A. 1 year ago on Google
I stayed for two nights in this hostel. The hostel is clean. The room was clean but too small. There is no space to walk. The shower is too small as well. I was surprised that a tiny service like having a hand gel in the toilet is not available even I asked for it. The only reason to give this hostel 3 star is the location. It was close to many sightseeing places, restaurants and shopping malls. It's not bad but below your expectation a lot if you choose to stay in it.

Good location. Not very soundproof, can hear people talking in other rooms. We were in 6 women share room. It’s too small to even turn around. Another thing is that there is no kitchen so I can e even cook or warm up my food. The price of the room is quite strange. I booked in advance hoping the price will be a bit cheaper which still costs me 29 euros per night. But when I get to the hostel, I accidentally checked the price online, it was 17 euros per night for my bed. It’s crazy. Feel like a fraud already. Good thing about my room is that there is a bathroom which is convenient.

First time being in a hostel and I'd say my experience was fairly pleasant! I had a weird situation where my bed was occupied because of a confusion from someone between G and J due to french pronunciation. It shouldn't have been an issue because your bed is written on your key but the receptionist sorted it out. Overall I'd recommend it if you need a quick place to stay.

Located very close to the centre. Shared dorms are decently clean. Bathrooms have no locks. Bathrooms are inside the dorms. Beds have curtains for privacy and large vertical lockers. Bring your own locks to use them or purchase at the reception. Unfriendly staff. Sometimes, water heating may not work. Decent breakfast options.

The worst thing about this hostel is the location – very busy street with many restaurants, which are open to very late night. The elevator stinks and the stairs are crooked. While in your room, you can hear steps all the time and it felt like someone was opening door to our room, but it was just noise from different floor. Bathroom was clean and room was okay. Staff was friendly. Would not stay again.

Bed bugs… Found them all over the bed, the walls and the carpets. Not recommended to visit now, during the France bed bug infestation. Got refunded though. Nice hotel staff. They were understanding 👍🏻 Had a nice view though. Great location. Near almost every tourist attraction.

Bedbugs. Very unpolite and rude staff, used offensive language against us when the bed bugs were mentioned. The place is good though, but it comes with a high price to pay. If you like having your clothes destroyed and are into being offended, I’d recommend.

It was a fine location and room nothing to send to the papers but fine, but the service was ridiculous, I paid for 2 nights and they absolutely refused to work with me when i had a delayed train and couldn’t make it until the second night and then asked me to leave and not allow me to stay past 11 to figure out travel plans that were cut short by them
