Warm service, accepts card, love the outdoor seating with plenty of sunshine. They have their own garden!

Great place with a nice and friendly atmosphere and vibe. The fries were tasty and the selection of beers is decent. Tried the local lager and Kasteel beer and the latter one especially delivered great taste. Good place to chill and enjoy the vibe of the neighborhood with friends or as travellers as it's not one of the tourist traps. Appropriate prices and good service. Both outside and indoor seating are possible.

Good food for a reasonable price (e.g. steak and fries for €15,90, not something easily found in this part of the city), veggie options. Was able to have a good meal on a Sunday afternoon when most restaurants are usually closed... a good pick for the weekend.

I had meatballs in tomato sauce with fries, the meatballs were cold inside. The waiting staff sent it back to be reheated, which I appreciate but the fries came back tasting like cardboard. Was not cheap and the service staff although polite were not particularly welcoming or attentive.

After travelling around Europe for a week I can say this Flemish stew is the bed food I’ve had!! The sauce was amazing. The members of staff were very quick and helpful when letting us decide on food and beer. There is plenty of seating, either outside, inside or in their patio. The atmosphere was great. Overall, we loved the place.

Forget about Belgian fries, waffles or chocolate. If you are in Brussels and you don't visit this place, you would have missed the most delicious food and friendliest people ever. Sorry I didn't take photos before I ate my meal, but this is how good it is

Food portion is a bit small. Flemish beef was not tender. Creamy chicken with vegetables didn't come with much vegetable. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staffs

Visiting brussel for the day. We found this place and enjoyed a couple of Belgium beers. Bartender was really nice and helpful picking out some drinks and food. We got the flemmish stew! It has a sweet flavor from the beer and the meat was very tender! The fries with it made it a good combination and the beer of course!

It was a bit messy. The service was chaotic, they forget to bring a drink and they bring It after we finished our food. And mean we were ordering our food they just turn back to serve other customers that wanted to pay. It was respectless. The light went out several times while eating in all the restaurant. The food was ok, but we couldn't enjoy as deserved.

Really cool small place. We walked by it many times decided to stop today. It is great food and almost all locals and local style dishes. Steak and fries is good and beer selection is long.

Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker gewesen. Zumindest mein Gericht. Purer Wahnsinn! 🤯 Dafür musste man um die Aufmerksamkeit des Kellners kämpfen. Das Restaurant ist an einem belebten Platz gelegen.

The dish was generally tasty; however, there was too much potato and not enough chicken. Overall, it was flavorful. I wasn't pleased with the service. The waiter seemed very nervous, and at one point, as I was eating, she rushed by, bumped my hand, and my food went flying. The service was very confusing, and I didn't have a peaceful experience there.

They had the absolute best French fries I’ve had in my life. I will never forget how good and crispy they were. I highly recommend the stew, too. Excellent all over the place.

Very nice little cafe. With very good food for a reasonable price! The service was a little subpar tho and the menu was only in french.

Café Novo offers a satisfying experience for those looking to try traditional Belgian cuisine. We had the opportunity to taste their “Carbonnades”, A flavorful Belgian Flemish Stew. The sauce was rich and added depth to the tender beef. The “Boulettes”, Meatballs in tomato sauce, could have been more flavorful if cooked a bit longer, but they still provided a decent taste. Both dishes came with traditional fries which were quite good. If you are seeking a taste of traditional Belgian fare in a pleasant setting, Café Novo is a suitable choice.

Great place to eat at any time! For the first time I ate a wonderful traditional Flemish dish called 'Carbonnade à la Flamande', which is reminiscent of a Bulgarian traditional dish that we prepare with pork and red wine. I also ate one of the most delicious Crème brûlée I've ever eaten. My only regret is that I cheated on myself and did not order a dark beer with Carbonad, but wine. The service was great too! I think I made a good choice!

Great little find in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Food was spot on, good portions and a decent selection. Garden is an added bonus, cool and quiet. The staff were friendly and not overbearing

Decent Belgian kitchen. Enjoyed the Stoemp & Saucisse and the Brussels waffle. Very reasonable prices. Near the historic center (and manneken pis) but just outside of the touristy area

I got the Carbonnade and I loved the fries on this plate - solidly comparable to any frituur on the street. The beef was fatty and soft to the knife, I loved it and the beer based gravy. However for 15 Euros, I would have expected at least one more medallion of beef. Service is also really good here. Definitely worth a visit for Belgian cuisine.

Misleading pricing The food was great however the prices on the menu in the restaurant and on their website are very different. For example the Carbonnades flamandes on their website in the English version is for €15.5 however in the restaurant is for €18.4. But even in the French version is only for €18. When I asked the waiter he said it hasn’t been properly updated for the last 2 years and the owner knows about it. When I also asked if they could honour their website pricing he said the owner said no. It is very sad because the food was great however this has left a sour taste in our mouth.

Great little restaurant in the centre of Brussels. Staff was kind and accommodating, food was excellent and pricing is very reasonable. It has a family friendly no fuss atmosphere. I would recommend and go back!

20€ is little expensive but it is worth it. Food and service were great. If you don't mind eating late go later as it will be less busy and service faster.

One of our favorite meals while here. Service was great and food was very good! The Flemish stew was spot on! Also the steak frites were good as well. Would definitely return.

If you wanna have decent beer and food away from overpriced tourist traps, you should definitely visit this place. Tasty products, friendly staff and nice atmosphere around.

Apparently you can’t visit Belgium and not have their traditional dish “Carbonnade à la Flamande” or “Flemish beef stew”. I absolutely enjoyed it!

It tastes as it smells, honestly they covered all the details, sticky floors and tables, burned cake, undrinkable coffee. I need to find a place for my kids and had to endure the whole horrible experience, BUT definitely never ever ever returning there

Food is ok. You get what you pay for. Their main clientele obviously consists of tourists. However, they do have their local regulars as well, including me. I don't come to this place for its fare. Rather, it's being used by my fellow yoga students as an after-yoga meeting point because of its proximity to the studio, and probably also for its cosiness, friendly service and budget-friendly menu compared to other restaurants in the neighbourhood. You'd find the Flemish stew is average if you are used to eating Flemish stew. Its meat is not quite tender enough. Their meatballs with tomato sauce are just fine, no more no less. The fries are so so, a bit on the bland side. They also serve an aubergine and goat cheese oven dish which somewhat lacks flavour. There are definitely better eateries out there but, like I said, if food is not your primary concern, then you'd probably enjoy this café.
