We visited in july 2019 we had an amazing time in the city and then we dropped in on Chalex, the food was fantastic, see the photos, the waitress was lovely, very friendly. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, the outside seating was sorted. Wish I was coming back this weekend. Highly recommended.

cocktails are nice, food ok, but the service was NOT GOOD. We constantly had to go hunt the waiter to get drinks, very unorganized and at the end, they over chaged us 82 euros. Got the owners number, tried calling him, texting him, to get a copy of our consumption... we never heard back from him. UPDATE: I was contacted over a week after, and the manager apologized for the mistake. My 82 euros were reimbursed. Accepting the mistake and reimbursing the money is highly appreciated. Thank you

Amazing atmospheric place, beautiful audience

when we arrived they made us sit at a table that was dirty and wet... I asked them to clean it and the young man wiped it with a too smelly cloth on which it was unpleasant to be sitting smelling the smell of dirty cloth... when the praise from the bar came He realized that he was smelling the table, they approached us to tell us that the table was reserved and they kicked us out... clearly it was an act of very bad taste, very bad attention and above all not very hygienic... totally not recommended

Our favourite spot in Mechelen. Great variety of choices (vegan & non-vegan), everything cooked and served with love, in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. We love to be there to drink/eat something, relax and enjoy the time. Definitely recommended!

Busy night, but sold out of a few items. The food wasn't real hot, table wasn't washed between customers, and he delivered the wrong beer

Warm service, good food and Nice location. We sat outside and both of us had great view of the Grote Markt from different angles.

Opening hours say from 5:00 PM but we were still standing in front of a closed door at 5:05 PM. Then we went elsewhere first and reserved online for later. When we went back it was open, but a friendly lady came to tell us that the bartender was not there yet and that she could not make cocktails... too bad for a cocktail bar. She couldn't say for sure when he would be there, so we ordered regular drinks and then had to wait another 25 minutes.

You have to wait a really long time for your drink, only to be told that certain cocktails are no longer available? Then another long wait to get the drink. I don't think the staff has any idea what they are doing. You can't call this a cocktail bar. Atmosphereless tent. Nice music.

We have already made reservations 3 times and we are always standing in front of a closed door, even though it was during opening hours.

Cocktails were good and the waitress knew her stuff! Unfortunately a customer who refused to pay his bill came in to cause trouble. It was loud, some punches were thrown and most personnel stood by and watched. I almost felt the need to throw him out myself. What should have taken a 2 min stern approach lasted for 20 min, destroying everyone's mood.

Nice place on the big market square of mechelen. Food is good service nice for a reasonable price. The terras is nice when the weather is good.

Cozy bar, not the traditional cocktails but special types which makes it different. Atmosphere OK, finger food OK. Minus: music too loud sometimes.

Nice enough place but really annoying staff member who made the experience unpleasant. Asked to come in with a dog, which she said was fine, but then acted like we were in the way when directing us to a table. We had said we were here for drinks only, but then she asked to take a food order. When we repeated that we were only here for a drink, she said she wouldn't have let us in if she had known that, as if we'd misled her. This despite being totally upfront about our intentions.
