Awful and expensive experience. Please, avoid at all cost. Beer is overpriced and not that great, food is just terribile. We paid 7,50€ for a slice of "bread" with a small cup of cheese that looked like Philadelphia. Having dinner here ruined our last night in Bruxelles and I'm not exaggerating.

Unbelievably atrocious restaurant - be very careful as a tourist with this restaurant as they overcharged me and and a group of individuals who asked for a bottle of water!!! Never published their price of water and the people working there are very RUDE! Absolute scam and **AVOID** at ALL COSTS!!!

Classic local pub just far enough away from the craze of Delirium. A place for the locals. A great range of beers . All beers served in the beers appropriate glass. The decor turns u back in history like many parts of the city. Simple but nice Staff are friendly and helpful

Go for the beer. The food is not so interesting. The beer and the ambience of this place is old school Belgium pub greatness!

This is a great place to stop and drink beer. I’m annoyed we didn’t try the food but the beer selection is good.

when moved to Brussels in 2000, I visit the bar and directly enjoyed the place. Nice atmosphere , friendly staff. Gave directly a good feeling. To start a night out in the city or even a early finishing of the night out. The bar is over 100 years old so certainly you have to have a drink there.

If you're looking for a place with a fantastic beer selection and a warm, inviting atmosphere, look no further than the Café Mort Subite. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel right at home in this cozy tavern. One of the first things you'll notice when you step inside is the impressive selection of beers on tap. Whether you're a fan of IPAs, stouts, or something in between, you're sure to find something to your liking here. And if you're not sure what to try, the knowledgeable staff are always happy to make recommendations. A true Belgian experience!

We often drink Mort Subite at home, but when we stumbled upon a bar called Mort Subite we had to go in. The waitresses were extremely helpful and polite. If you like beer and you're in Brussels this is a must visit bar. Would recommend visiting to everyone and will definitely visit again! Thank you very much 🍺

Really nice atmospheric beer hall. Fantastic selection of bottled beers and a smaller, but still nice selection of beers on tap. The food menu is simple - mainly omelettes and Crocque Monsieur / Madame, and to be honest I've had better. They are tasty and simple, but don't go expecting the best you've eaten. Definitely recommend going in though - could sit here for hours with a few beers.

Overpriced and overrated bar, which is a pity, as historical wise it could be one of the best in Brussel. So, not coming back again. I do live in Brussel and it's sad to say, but this is not more than a tourist trap... Just a star extra for the decoration

The place has a great atmosphere. We stopped in for a couple of sharing plates and drinks. We had the pressed head and steak tartare. The head cheese was delicious, and the tartare flavourful. We are more accustomed to a chopped tartare. Our server was very nice and tentative.

A must for beer enthusiasts and history buffs. Just off the beaten path with a large patio and plenary of seating inside, come and enjoy a piece of cultural Belgium history. It’s like stepping into the past… as the decor hasn’t changed, ever! The service is friendly and efficient. Try a Gueuse type beer if you like something fruity, otherwise enjoy one of their vast selections of draught and/or bottled beer! It’s a great spot to unwind and take immerse yourself in the past!

The oldest bar in town (apparently). The beers are good and the staff will recommend you a good one based on your preferences. The place itself is decorated with pieces of history since 1928.

This is the classic Brussels beer café, deliberately quaint, old fashioned, and quiet, at least by Brussels centre standards. You must try the Geuze, if only once. The food is basic but good cold bar snacks, no real meals. I always visit here first when I arrive in Brussels.

A very large beautiful cafe/ bar , one of the oldest in Brussels with many old local celebrities like Jacques Brel frequenting in past , this place is truly magical with its wooden seating , tall ceilings and paintings artwork on the walls. Staff is super courteous and will help you suggest. They have great selection of bier , the kriek ( cherry beer) being the specialty most in demand . You will not find this particular one anywhere outside. Located conveniently in city center you should not miss a couple drinks during your visit to Brussels . Inspire of its legacy & charm , the Prices are still moderate like any other normal cafe. They have some aperitifs options too like cheese ham and it was very fresh and yummy. Overall a lovely place .

Awesome historic café in Brussels! Food was delicious (kaas sandwich), beer selection was lovely, service was good. Outside seating was plentiful and very nice except when in direct sunlight in unusual heat.

Ups and downs to this place. It's an old, famous beer hall with a pretty interior and decent size beer menu. Beer was good. Unfortunately, the prices are rather steep compared to other beer halls and bars in Brussels and the service was not great. Waiters were not that nice and (the first time I've seen this in all of Europe) they will not split the bill when you are with others. Not ideal for going out with friends.

My favourite bar in Brussels, great atmosphere & beer selection. Can recommend one of the small plates if you fancy a bite to eat, esp the salami & local vieux cheese. Will have to try the Kip Kap next time!

Great traditional place for Belgium beer. The venue is a really classic beer hall. It’s not a place to have dinner, but they have a decent selection of charcuterie, cheese and pickles. Crowded but always easy to find a place to sit.

A place setback in time. It feels like the place is set back in the 1950’s. A fantastic experience. Great beers and food.

  • 1/5 James G. 5 years ago on Google
Well start with the good... the beers are nice... but it’s not exactly a stretch to find that in any bar Brussels. The food was terrible - my croque Monsieur was value bread that was barely toasted with a sad bit of salad! Service wasn’t great either - probably give it a miss tbh

Nice little boozer with a great selection of beers. You could quite comfortably pass the time away here. The staff were friendly and the place itself is quite nice, with a bit of a rustic interior and a great terrace on the street with tables and umbrellas. The terrace seemed to catch the sun until late evening too which was a bonus. I didn't have any food there but I saw it being eaten by others and it looked great.

Friendly and kind service, a 4th generation beer hall with character that looks like it could tell lots of great stories. The house beers are great - a little sour and fresh with plenty of heart.

Fast and attentive service. Beers are very good. Try lambic. Place is traditionally decorated. Noisy but full of atmosphere.

Great place to have a beer. The place is owner by the 4th generation of the Vossen family. It has quite an interesting history, you can read more about it on Wikipedia (À la Mort Subite). The staff was very friendly and nice and took the time to explain to us the beer types. I would definitely recommend their brand of beers, it’s very unique tasting and looking. Each beer is served in a different glass shape.

Very special atmosphere in this nice building. Good selection of Belgian beers and simple snacks that are great for their purpose. The staff is very friendly and polite. It would be nice if it was open later hours and on Sundays.

It's a nice cozy place and have a wide range of choices in drinks. The decor is really old which gives it a vintage look. The service was quick. However, the price is a bit steep. Could be a good place for hangout if you like good beer and are ready to pay a bit more price for it.

  • 3/5 Lala93 6 months ago on Google
On the expensive side but you are in Brussels. Good choices of beer and varying sizes. Not a lot of food choice but it's enough to keep you from being hungry. Place wasn't overly busy but we were still ignored by a waiter and when we went to order drinks and food he turned and left as soon as we ordered drinks. However, other waiter was very pleasant. You'll see a lot of people simply coming in to take a video for Tiktok, bit of a shame really - if you truly want to enjoy the place you need to sit down and buy something!

  • 4/5 Gillian F. 4 years ago on Google
A great place to visit, with the interior unchanged since 1928. A decent enough selection of beers and some snacks available. We visited on a busy Saturday night and the service reflected that but the waiter was very polite and smiled (especially at my attempts to speak French...). The Gouda cheese was delicious. Worth a visit!

  • 5/5 Rodanthi H. 7 months ago on Google

  • 3/5 Irene Compte (. 8 months ago on Google
A classic beer "taverne" to visit in the old part of town, it features an old style deco indoors and a small terrace area. Belgian snack options like sausage & cheese plates, and not the place to find a warm meal. Of course you'll find a large beer selection. It gets busy depending on the time of the day. Waiters are as classic as the place itself.

Amazing space, kind staff and a simple yet authentic and delicious menu. As vegetarians they were nice and accommodating on making a couple of changes. We passed a couple of hours here with beers and good conversation and really enjoyed it it!

We were looking for a spot for a good beer and a nibble, and this place did not disappoint (it was strongly recommended by our hotel). In the heart of the city, amazing service, phenomenal beer selection...and a few traditional Belgian dishes to accompany your beverage. I highly recommend for a quick pit stop or even a nice lunch while sightseeing around the historic parts of Brussels.

The kind of place where the rude service is part of the gig. Yelled at by a beefy woman manning the door but that’s part of the fun. Great beer hall.

Fantastic drinking spot to give your feet a break. Close proximity to great landmarks/building, we mostly stayed downstairs but the space was beautiful in an antique way. The server was great & the option for beers was perfect. Would recommend to anyone

(Translated by Google) Nice interior, very nice waitress, but very bad experience. The boss kicked us out because our 3 year old son spoke too loud in his opinion. When we were outside and at 9:30 pm it was basically noisy on the street. On top of that he (the boss) started talking to us about raising children which is really rude! Avoid this place if you are with children. For the boss: "put CHILD FREE" if you hate children.

I showed the right menu picture and asked if served wrong plz bring the right menu, but he answered no it's right menu! and quickly disappeared. Not only menu but also beer was wrong I ordered again Nevertheless, he was charged for all the dishes. It seems like more expensive menus that you propose order ... Worst service ever and don't want to visit again. I recommend other restaurants nearby.
