This bar is well known place for beer bar in downtown of Brussels, located 2 minutes walk from grand place. You can feel the heart of Brussels when entering the gate to the bar. If it is not easy to find, the entrance is right hand side. They offer the bottle beers and you can choose or ask for their recommendation if you tells your favorite taste such as dark, bitter or light and low alcohol. If you are visiter, don’t forget take picture of stained glasses. Recommend to visit earlier since you can relax more. Enjoy local beer and cheers!!

Such a charming pub full of character, history and more importantly great beer. Nestled away from the tourist traps this feels like the place for locals to relax and drink. A must for any fan of beer! Try the extra strong ones if you're brave! Much more delicious than you might think! I've been here every time I've visited Brussels and will continue to do so in the future!

Great pub with a good selection on tap. They also have the Trappist Westvleteren which is considered as one of the best beer in the world, it is pricey, but totally worth to try if you are into these types of beers. Note that the place is cash only.

We came here for Westvleteren 12. We satisfied our curiosity, we tried the beer (I don't think it's worth its 17€ per glass, but everyone has different tastes). But I didn't like the service very much. The woman behind the bar acted arrogant, it seemed like they were doing us a favor. She also brazenly demanded a tip (the only such case in Brussels in our practice)

Quietly located in a hidden alleyway off busy street. While my kids waited in line for some fries at the nearby corner(the line is 30min), I snuck into this classic old bar for a sip of Westmalle triple blonde!

Dropped in for some spectacular beers and scenery. There's an old stained glass window where the guilds of the town once showed their support. Wonderful place to have a beer, if you know where it is!

Went in for a Westvleteren 12. In addition we took Kriek (one of the few places where it is available on tap). A huge plus of the place is the opportunity to try rare beers. The bar is old, beautiful with lots of wood and stained glass. It is worthy of a visit at least once. But despite the large number of pluses I lacked atmosphere. The place is very quiet. Like its neighbor lacks noise and fun. In my opinion this is very important for such a classic old bar.

Nice stylish old looking tavern! Not so crowded with tourists. However I was little disappointed as they had only 3 draft beers. For me it was also little expensive but it's case for all places in Belgium as I'm from poor country.

Iconic beer bar, a hidden gem. Beers offering is not that extensive but the atmosphere is very nice and the staff is kind and helpful. Mainly locals we go there, few tourists. I will be back once and again.

A very cozy bar hidden in the alley that used to be a church. You can still see many traces of the chapel including a beautiful stained glass that was part of the original architecture. They accept cash only... but just like the name of the bar - "The Good Old Times" - so don't complain that they aren't "modern" enough! 😄 Leave your modern worries outside and come in for a drink!

This pub was lovely, quiet, looking very old school, really pretty, stained glass windows and nice details all over. Prices seemed pretty okay too (though I don't have a good grasp of Belgian beer process).

If you are looking for the "World's Greatest Beer" from Trappist W and you can't make the trip to the monastery, go here! It is the most expensive beer there but it saves you the trip, time, and money. Worth it. It's cash only though!

Avoid this place! Let me tell you why. The place itself is looking cozy and has lots of history (though royally overpriced, but what to expect from such a touristic place). The bar keeper, an old woman with glasses, is the most unfriendly, rude b**** I've ever encountered anywhere I've been in the World. Yelling at customers if you don’t immediatelly understand her crapy english or if you ask a simple question about a beer for an example (like is it a dark beer or a blonde..). She will give you a stare, like if you were stupid for not knowing that. She will do anything in her power to make you feel unwelcome. If you are a local/regular customer from Brussels she will be really friendly and nice to you, but if that's not that case, she doesn't hear a Brussels accent - you are a tourist, you will be trated horribly, that's guaranteed. So again if you can AVOID this place!! Being treated like that will likely just ruin your experience and your mood.. There are many, many other beautiful historical Brussels cafes to go to.

Old bar in a little impasse, decoration from the time that it was an antique bar, good history that you can hear from the barmaid (super friendly) or by one guide of a tour group !

Cozy little pub in the center of Brussels. It’s one of the oldest around and depending on what time you go can be quiet and quaint or a party. Choose you or own path, but definitely give this place a try.

Absolutely awesome little local bar down an alley of Brussels. Warm, comfortable, quiet. Not the largest list of beers but you wouldn't go there for just the drinks.

Such an alluring establishment right from the moment you spot the entrance. Like taking a trip back in time. The bar was mostly filled with Americans but I believe this is quite a common occurrence in Brussels. The decor is whimsical and the beer list is excellent. A must visit when in town

Great trappiste beer selection. His tiny place is located in an almost alleyway off a main street. Came here twice on our trip to Brussels because we loved it so much.

An old-school pub with good atmosphere and wonderful beers. We were there with a group and had a fantastic time.

Quaint and charming pub, the oldest in Brussels, and one of a handful that sells Westvleteren. Also, try the Bourgogne de Flandre to get to know the old flemish red ale recipe.

Little hidden gem in the old town of Brussel. If you want to get away from the hustle of the main Street, take this few steps into a narrow lane with some delicious Belgian beer waiting for you

Quaint little bar that’s hidden away on a busy street. Warm service and plenty of options for a quick drink; definitely not one of those places with an extensive menu or experimental beers though. If you’re in the mood for classics, you can’t go wrong with Au Bon Vieux Temps. The space has a bathroom and also an upstairs section (which was closed when we visited). Appears to be frequented by tourists and locals alike. Bring cash as they don’t accept cards

Fantastic, don’t walk by it! Nice bar server, enjoyed the $22 special beer made by monks I believe she said

Traditional brown cafe bar in the heart of Brussels, not the largest list of beers but some good ones non the less

Stepping into the Belgian pub felt like entering the Arctic, thanks to Maureen's frosty welcome – I half-expected polar bears to join us. But fear not, the Cardi woman was a burst of sunshine in a snowstorm, turning our lads' trip into a comedy of warmth and good times. She deserves a medal for melting the ice faster than global warming!
